Albeit a genius way to play a GP sim, as a motorcycle rider I would have a hard time doing this as the use of counter steer isn’t present. If you were to flip the axis for the steering you would have a pretty realistic sim. If you were to lean right and steer right with a right hand pull at 60mph plus on a real bike, you might find that coming off your bike in a flat spin really sucks. Your videos are awesome nonetheless! I like the sound dampening in your workspace too, my wife hates the echoes of wrench clangs maybe I’ll look into that.

there's a vr game similar to Jet Moto called v-racer hoverbike that would be pretty sick to play with something like this. you lean your body and move your arms like you're riding a bike to steer it. would translate well onto something like this

Definittely funny build and well done. Only the input lag is beyond any immersion :/
Idk if there is any input lag. I think its just that the lean of the rig is independent of the actual steering. It basically seems like the handlebars control the actual game and the lean is just there for fun.
I think what would have made it more immersive is if the steering cause the bike to lean, and then connecting the lean of the rig to the controller somehow. Preferably in a countersteering fashion, since that is the correct way to ride a motorcycle.

Good start! Found this since i was thinking of doing something very similar since nothing good exists already, or at least not for less than cost of a real motorcycle ($6k - $20).
ONE BIG PROBLEM, this isn't a mountain bike SIM. Real street bikes turn opposite direction due to the steep rake angle and gyro effect of the front wheel.
Only works like this at extremely low speeds, although not a place you want to be since gyro isn't helping to balance and they have the steering radius of the moon.
Because of the economic crisis and rate of unemployment, now is the best time to invest and make money💯

At 4:35 you are doing it wrong. Counter-steering works on a motorcycle at over 12mph (19km/h). So when you lean right at high speed, that’s turning right, you will actually be turning the handlebars left. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s a gyroscopic effect 😉👍🏼

Okay that's really cool! my only problem is you push handlebars right to steer left on a motorbike going that speed. It's called counter steering, so this specific setup is counter intuitive for someone who rides motorbikes.

Awesome video. Would be great if you slap on a used steering damper to add some resistance to the handlebar.
For a more natural feel try connecting the controller thumbstick to your bike lean angle instead. On a real bike riding, at low speed yes you steer the bike by turning the steering handle. However, at medium to high speed you steer the bike by leaning the whole bike into the direction of the turn while the steering handle is relatively kept pointing straight ahead.
