I remember "Big Pier 60" back in the 1960's, when I was 13-14 years old. We visited from our New York home. We stayed at the Clearwater Beach Hotel. At night, tarpon and snook would roll under the lights. We snagged mullet in the canals and used them for shark bait on the pier, sending the mullet out in a cardboard box, then pulling them into the water when they had sailed out far enough. We mostly caught bonnet-heads. We caught big sea trout in the surf (we call them spotted weakfish in NY). Carefree days of hangin' with the local kids, who taught me how to rig wire leader for shark, and repair broken eyes on a rod. Clearwater Beach looked NOTHING like the busy place it is today. I'll always love Florida because of old Clearwater Beach, but my charming old memories might get bruised were I to visit again today...
Croaker or spot was the little guy you kept getting on the bottom Sabiki hooks (they hang close to bottom). Looked like Stone crab at the end, (those are highly regulated). Live line those pinfish!!
Headed down to Clearwater in March, last summer fished st petes for sharks for 4 nights in a row and caught nothing. Any tips in Clearwater to catch sharks?
Hey, im going to clearwater during feb break, i wanted to know how often do you catch those fish? also was the pier crouded and did they require you to show a fishing liscense? im under 16.
I believe you don’t need a license if you are on the pier. And I was there in February as well, so should be the same conditions for you. Otherwise, I don’t know to much about Florida fishing

Never caught one down there, just up in NY, I’m sure they are seasonal in Florida too.. make sure you’re targeting them at a time that they’re around
What line do you use
Love it there, did great by Courtney Campbell too
Not familiar with Courtney campbell, that nearby?
@@Bsprecksfishing yea its Courtney Campbell causeway, sweet double bridge to fish, long exposed bank line and open water
New fisherman coming down next week what should we ise for bait in clearwater??
Little pieces of shrimp

Crab catch big fish
What line do you use?
20 and 30 Lb powerpro superslick
@@Bsprecksfishing can you get it at Walmart? I’m leaving the 11th and going to Clearwater
Any old braid will do for pier fishing, just keep it to 20 or 30lb
@@Bsprecksfishing okay thank you
Not target species? That's bait fish for monsters
the pelicans also love to try and steal your baits
