You are correct. Speckled trout do get much bigger. They are a lot of fun on soft plastics and a popping cork around grass flats and depth changes in or around estuaries, bays, inlets, sounds etc. Nice video. Saltwater inshore fishing is my favorite way to spend a day at the beach!
That’s a great little spot to fish.. I always fish right off the same walkway by the bridge, or the pier is great when the fish are biting, just a bit crowded at times, nice vid
The bait is from the bait shop on the other side of that bridge. Cant remember what it’s called. Pier 69 was slow but there were sheeps hanging around the pilings there too. Thanks for watching!
I'm going to Clearwater in December. First time ever fishing saltwater, I'm an avid stuergeon/catfish guy.... May or may not have to change my gear for those smaller fishies. I love the video. Thank you for the time, it helps me understand how to fish from shore down there.
Thanks for watching! I love catfishing and sturgeon fishing. You can use a Carolina type rig similar to a catfish rig in salt too. Just lighter weights and terminal tackle obviously! Bridges pilings, rock walls and passes are all places to target down there. Live shrimp is my favorite for numbers.
@@WaterandIceOutdoors thanks for the ideas... I was already looking at my tackle going " ok so my 4/0-6/0 hooks are a tad overkill." I do like your set up. I may steal it. I have 3 days to fish, and it's all from shore for the most part with possibly a day on a kayak, so I wasn't sure if I was going to try bobber action, throw a hunk of lead and hook and bottom fish, try a floatation above hook to lift hook and try jig it in, even just using a jig and a mister twister. I really appreciate your video, I'll be fishing within a mile or even closer of your spots. I am going to use #20 blue braid and #20 fluorocarbon and I just ordered some 1/0 octopus hooks... All I can do now is wait for december. thanks for all the ideas and the video.
Did you use your freshwater gear for this? I'm traveling there soon and not sure if its safe for my gear... may have to buy a beater saltwater combo for the week
The rod is my travel rod. Use it for both salt and fresh. I didn’t use my freshwater reels for salt. I buy cheap $50 Pfluegers or something similar. Thanks for watching and good luck down there! It’s a blast.
How did you avoid being stripped by pinfish? Was it the live shrimp? Because I'm in st pete beach right now and we always get our frozen shrimp stripped by pinfish before we can get sheepshead
MNM Outdoors I didn’t totally avoid them. But I probably only caught around ten in three days. I was using live shrimp so the shells were still on, maybe that made a difference? Also I was using 1/0 octopus hooks which might be too big for their mouths. They were definitely pecking at it but I think the shells being on kept it from getting stolen before the sheepshead could get to it. Hope that helps!
Any bridge or pier piling should get you on sheeps down there. This is on the pedestrian bridge next to the main bridge into Clearwater Beach. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and hope you get on em!
I don't recall the actual name, but it's the bridge that goes to the main intersection of Clearwater Beach. Near a roundabout. Hope that helps and good luck!
Hey I live in ohio and will be coming to Florida for a week will it be OK if I bring my fresh water reels and rods I'll be fishing from the bank like you...I'll be fishing the gulf
I would bring separate reels because the saltwater can corrode your fresh water reels. If you do bring them, look up how to soak them after using them to clean them so they don’t corrode.

Thanks for watching! Coming down to FL every year has definitely gotten me hooked on inshore fishing.
This is a crazy coincidence because I live in Minnesota but just a little bit ago I was in Clearwater Florida! Also great video! 🐠
Thanks Ellie! My family comes down every spring from MN. We love it in Clearwater. Thanks for watching!

The Eastbourne Fisherman Thanks for stopping by!
There is hope for early ice out!!!!
There sure is! I’m still worried about that late April blizzard we always seem to get. Fingers crossed!
@@WaterandIceOutdoors haha yeah we do lol.
That bridge is a great place to cast a bait net for live bait. Then I move on to the hot spots.
Good to know! I come down from MN every spring and that’s a hot spot to me! I’m sure there are much better spots though.
It is mangrove snapper( around 12 min). The one you caught is kind of light color...some of them have a deeper reddish color. Cool video
Thanks for the ID Jim!
Love seeing people fish by my house
It’s awesome anywhere you drop a line there.
Nice video!
Where do you get live shrimp in Clearwater? Did you try fishing the fishing pier next to where you were at? Any luck out on pier 60
The bait is from the bait shop on the other side of that bridge. Cant remember what it’s called. Pier 69 was slow but there were sheeps hanging around the pilings there too. Thanks for watching!
I was just there this morning lol
FatBelly Fishing Thats awesome! How’d you do?
Water and Ice Outdoors a flounder and a ton of trout
FatBelly Fishing Nice! I was hoping to run into some flounder or redfish but didn’t find any where I was fishing.

Where you fishing at? I’m not from FL and I don’t know any place to go fishing besides Skyway pier.
This is the walkway bridge that goes from the mainland to the Clearwater beach down town.
Where is this at I’m here now
Where do you fishing at in Clearwater on this video.please tell me where at

😉😉👏🏾👏🏾👍👍
This looks great do you know exactly what location this is?
Thanks for watching. It's the Memorial Causeway Bridge in Clearwater. That should get you close enough!
What bridge is this I'm going this weekend with my kids
I don't recall the actual name, but it's the bridge that goes to the main intersection of Clearwater Beach. Near a roundabout. Hope that helps and good luck!

That’s the lil bridge after the big bridge going to Clearwater beach
You got it!
How do I get there . You guys talking by sand key park ?
Would love to get you down south in Florida to get on some 20-30 snook days with on swimbait
Eigbrett Outdoors Hope to be in Orlando for ICAST if corona doesn’t cancel it end of July.
Water and Ice Outdoors I hope to be down there as well
Eigbrett Outdoors I’ve already got my plane tickets so if you go let’s make sure we get together.

Found this spot and water was low and fishing was ass
That’s too bad. Maybe wait til the tide comes back in. It was great for me.
