I gotta say, it really surprised me how good Chris Hemsworth’s potrayal as Orion was.
Yeah for the most part he did fine but I am hoping Peter and Frank voice the present day prime and Megatron in the movie
He tried to sound like Peter Cullen, do you know who else sounds exactly like Peter Cullen?

BRO COULD BE THE FALLEN!!! Megaton is not the first Decepticon, the fallen is the first Decepticon IN HIS TIME/AGE, so when megaton finds the deceased Cybertronian Decepticon’s mask. At this time of the movie he will megaton will be the a Decepticon in cybertron’s end of the golden age and the beginning of the Great War (Autobots Vs Decepticons for the war for Cybertron)
Before that war was the quintession war where they used them all cybertronians like slaves the g1 story but Orion Megatron so on where not caste yet so they where not alive. But i think its a cool take Shockwave should not have One eye as well. He was Blue an a Senator. But you right Elita one should be Ariel.
Granted, this isn't the tone I expected for this movie, but Im still pretty excited. This movie is part 1 of a 3-part trilogy telling the full story of how Optimus and Megatron went from best friends to mortal enemies at war with one another and how the Cybertronian War first began. Personally, I really like the art style, and I like the vibrant colours of Cybertron. I really like Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tee Henry as Optimus/Orion Pax and Megatron/D-16, and their dynamic together seems to be a highlight of the movie, which will make their downfall all the sadder when we see them go to war. Honestly, I don't mind the humour since Transformers can be fun and silly at times, but since we were just introduced to the beginning of their story, having that youthful comedy isn't a bad thing since its builds us up to the serious tone and eventual war and chaos later on

Oh it's gonna be a trilogy? That's not good. No way is this movie gonna make enough money for there to be another one.
Honestly i dont mind the lighter tone that we see because theres multiple glimpses alluding to how the cards are set in place for the inevitable divide between optimus and megatron and how their brotherhood is gonna start off strong and then devastate us with how they start seeing different viewpoints
5:30 D-16 being Megatron's original designation _does_ come from IDW comics, but the name itself was the original Takara Megatron toy's release number.
The animation... I'm not an immediate fan, but I may warm to IT. But I don't think is gonna be all-out comedy. The tail end of the trailer suggests to me that it's gonna get relatively dark, but will still have bits of levity throughout.
I think there will definitely be serious tones thrown in, but we all should enjoy the movie as it’s portrayed, because any potential sequel will surely be more serious and possibly gory, which perfectly represents how cybertron went from its more fun and joyful golden age to war. Either way very excited for this film ❤.
I feel like this trailer was purposely made so kids would see and tell their parents that they want to see this movie, so the more serious stuff is saved for seeing the movie itself. Cause they have to do the balancing act of getting new people in while keeping in the older fans which is always tricky and tends to lean into one side more often
Onto a story hypothesis, I think the quintessons are more organic so they can build that magneto-esk ideology in megatron of "get rid of these people before they get rid of you" for organic creature while Optimus will Naturally have the opposite. I also think that sentinel (who we see confront the quintessons) will be the villain for the act but it will slowly reveal that he is just a pawn for someone else

Remember...the brand is targeted towards Kids...That is something many of us who Grew Up with the Brand seem to have forgotten post-Bay.
This honestly appears more geared towards Families and that is Okay.
It looks like it could be a great deal of fun. Most of the best Transformers Shows included some comedy (Prime and Animated are perfect examples), so this tone feels like it will work.
The tone feels like Taika got his hands on it, and told everyone, f the fans, just do straight comedy.......what made transformers so good was that it had it's adult moments......which this sh*ts on entirely.

The Editors of the Previews has a lot of influence over how they are perceived.

@@CT-BAl13R the intentional comedy in the '84 series was usually cringe, it was the Unintentional Comedy that helped the series, esp paired with the Incredible Voice work of Cullen & Welker.

2:22 For as much as I worship _Transformers: Prime_ and High Moon Studios's _Cybertron_ dilogy not in little for their grandious and dramaric storytelling, I'm open to all kinds of _Transformers_ stories as long as they're good ones. Not to mention _One_ is still a more faithful take on _Transformers_ than even its fellow theatrical movies _Bumblebee_ and _Rise of the Beasts_ are. And I fill plain disrespectful comparing it to Michael Bay's movies in this criteria - they ruined wide public's perception of _Transformers_ for many years to come and this movie appears to be going to contribute a lot to fixing it.

It sounds like a nice change of pace considering everything is pretty much always serious in some way so it taking a comedic approach is a nice change depending on if they execute it right

It’s a trend that I’m really tired of! I understand one or two big names…. But we have voice actors for a reason. I’m curious if it’s for studios or producers? Because I can’t imagine a lot of people giving a HUGE shit if a famous person who isn’t famous for voice acting is going to be in an animated movie. I know SOME people will, but it’s targeted at kids and I know they don’t give a fuck. The only time I can personally remember caring is when they cast Pratt as Mario, because he sucks and I refuse to watch that movie as a result.
This isn’t the era of America having less talented VO anymore, just look at the likes of BG3 and Critical Role. I understand that some of them are actually quite good, such as Scarlett Johansen, but with a lot of them, you can tell it’s not their desired medium.
Plus the poor voice directors…
I kinda get it in this case. It would be hard to make optimus and Megatron seem younger and more naive if peter cullen and frank welker were voicing them.

I expected some more kid friendly take and feel that is what we got.
You know when Ratchet tells u the backtory of Orion pax in TF prime...yeah we wanted that with bumblebee cybertron scene...
Honestly that was what I was hoping for too but I'm still excited for this.

Just so you know that cool Rhino looking thing showing in the trailer is Alpha trion's alt mode as a toy has already been leaked for it . The bad guys are definitely the quintessons as you can see the sharkticons alongside them. It seems that the spider character is in fact arachnid based on her prime design
By the end of the movie Optimus will not look the same, the character you see at the start is Orion Pax, established in G1, who will turn into Optimus as the movie goes on (it will be the same for Megatron / D-16)
5:13 My current theory is that the Decepticons have already been founded long before the events of the movie most likely by Megatronus Prime a. k. a. the Fallen whose face has been the basis for the Decepticon insignia in more than one continuity - D-16 needs to get the name Megatron from somewhere after all - with Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, Airachnid and the others of their criminal gang possibly being its last / former members.

D-16 is a reference to Megatron's Japanese number back in the G1 toyline.
Cybertrons (Autobots) were marked C while Destrons (Decepticons) had D.
The 16 is cos he was the 16th release in the line.
I'm mixed. Will have to wait and see, but the type of humor has me... on edge. Other stuff is definitely artistic/adaptation license, but I do question why for it.
Still, hope for the best.

I'm trying to stay happy bc it's animated and it's g1 character designs but I am doing my best to not go on a huge rant and make a slideshow of how could have actually made the movie into a backstory to the war to leaving cybertron trilogy
I'm still down to watch it. I'll take the good crumbs of the movie then throw away the rest of the movie in my head
Edit: now that I’ve had a day I’m a bit more optimistic and trying to stay impartial but it was def not what I was expecting so it caught me SUPER off guard
my thoughts, movies need to stop trying to copy marval's style of writing. where a dramatic moment is undercut by something silly because the writers are too afraid to be sincear and let the moment just be cool.
You got a point with the opening. It did tell us that this is going to be in their teens immediately.

Having kids means I really wanted this to not be to serious. I am not disappointed. Showed my kids and they really want to see this.
Then the film is doing its job, it seems. Us adults can go back to watching Dark of the Moon and reading IDW's All Hail Megatron 😅

I think they're gonna do a 180 towards the end once the war kicks off. Even if it is a goofy movie I'll still probably end up having fun with it. But something tells me this happy vibe isn't as it seems.
Even if people will hate the series etc. We can all agree that the designs are good?
I don't know who I'm hoping for more, with the spider bot. Tarantulous (the one time I saw him that is, in Earthspark) was interesting, and I want to see more of him. Blackarachnia/Arachnid however, I already know she's pretty neat. So I honestly don't know.
I'm just exited to see what they'll do with Starscream, Soundwave, and Shockwave, what with Soundwave and Shockwave sometimes portrayed as some of Megatron's first followers, and his 'lieutenants' sort of.
Don't forget that The Last Knight literally did get Steve Buscemi and didn't give him much to say

I'm in love with this movie, it feels like people having fun with the transformers ip, sort of like spiderverse. and also the animation is beautiful and the action animation is PHENOMINAL!!!

I'm surprised by all the confusion you have, I thought you knew a whole bunch about the Transformers, pretty much no character designs were made at random, nor any story beats, pretty much everything you see in the trailer can be explained, even including the 'weird dog thing' you mentioned, which is actually alpha-trions alt-mode (the mossy guy you saw in the trailer.)
The title indicates that many other transformers were not comedy or at least didn't have comedic parts in them, so as long as it has some kind of action then I am all good, plus this is mainly just a background story for Optimus and Megatron so I am looking forward for it
Man there’s a lot of copium going on about how the trailer is hiding the “real” or “dark” stuff for the movie. Or you know the trailer could be showcasing what the movie actually is as trailers do. Also for people saying well it’s part one so there’s a bigger story overall true but even Dune and Spiderverse don’t get follow up movies without seeing how well the first one was received if it earned sufficient money to continue with a sequel.
It was abit different thenbi expected, but Im still excited. I think the tone could grow as the trilogy goes since this is pre war so it could get crazier

At first i didn't really know how to feel about the trailer. But now I'm pretty hyped for this film
The plot of this new Transformer movie is similar to the "Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui" I used to watch when I was a kid. The stories are similar where robotic teenagers set off on an adventure and become more advanced versions of themselves and they go on to accomplish great things!

Here's my thoughts on the trailer:
Animation is great.
I don't like the comedic tone they're going for, I think it should have been more serious. Although I will say, the jokes in the trailer were decently funny.
Not really a fan of the choice of voice actors for Prime and Megs. I mean come on, David Kaye is right there! As for a younger Megatron... I'm not sure.
I don't like that they went for a brand new continuity. They should have adapted either the Aligned Continuity version, the IDW version, or a merge of the two, which again would have needed a more serious tone.
What's with the "gaining the ability to transform" thing? Transformers are born with that ability, no? I need to read more tfwiki.

I genuinely dislike the faces and the 4 main bots have the worst designs that hit the uncanny valley plus it seems to have a generic plot but I hope I am proven wrong tbh
It's not a comedy, the people who have seen the movie said it's got pretty serious bits, they just advertised the majority of the funny bits, that's what they claimed.
There's a lot of things I could dive into. I could talk about that giant robot D-16 finds with the Decepticon insignia for a face possibly being Megatronus, that weird Cybertronian creature that leaps at the camera (that I first thought was an Allicon) confirmed to be Alpha Trion's alternate mode as per a recently revealed toy, any number of things. But there's only one thing I want to talk about: *who said Steve Buscemi was voicing Starscream?* We already know that it was revealed a week ago that he was cast, but his role is still undisclosed. Not that I would be opposed to Steve Buscemi as Starscream, because I feel like he could pull off at least a decent voice for our favorite backstabbing schemer, but until we get confirmation, I need to know where the hell you pulled this idea from.
If this is meant to be part of a three parter it should have the voices of mainly orion/optimus and megatronus change to their original voices or people who are able to do a great job pn it

My first watch was a “Really?” reaction and got halfway through the second watch when I remembered, “Oh, yah! They’re toys for kids!” That settled the internal debate about the tone for me. I did think the whole concept of “earning” a transformation cog was a big new step or am I wrong about that?
A comedic tone fits Transformers a lot more than a serious and grounded one. Makes the shows and movies infinitely more entertaining to watch. That being said, the comedy has to be handled well. When the timing to making a joke is not right, it's better to just not say anything. TF: One will show which direction they choose to go in: will it have well-timed jokes that land well and make the movie a blast to watch, or will there be a shitty unfunny Marvel-esque snarky remark from every character every 5 minutes which will make the movie a chore to sit through?

Hey, they got away from the crappy "Bee can't speak" BS. That's a good move. This Bee does feel a lot more like a younger version of his G-1 incarnation. I've been missing that sort of portrayal. And yeah, G-1 was a lot more of a fun experience, with some serious moments. Back before the Movie cause the huge tone shift. I wasn't aware of this movie before watching this video, and I gotta say that I'm cautiously optimistic about it.

Obviously it won’t be entirely a comedy, that’s just what animated movie trailers do. The majority of those trailers will include jokes and comedy while the final film will have some darker tones and themes. Exactly like the trailers for the Lego movie, Into the Spiderverse, Puss in Boots, Kung fu panda, etc.
The question is, does Prime die in the end?
I really like how this movie takes place before the war and before the autobots and decepticons existed, because let’s be honest, it’s not really a hot topic in the franchise and it’s not much explored except through mostly transformers prime and idw comics
some of the designs are alright, the voices is the most jarring part, especially Megatron, it doesn't have that energy yk? At least not yet
2:47 I feel like that's the issue with people lately when it comes to judging transformers movies and shows. They constantly want it to be better than prime (or beast wars as some people complain that TFP is boring which it isn't) when we'll probably never get a show on TFP level. As time has progressed companies have kind of given less of a shit about good stories and more about appealing to kids with Hasbro being no exception. I mean, hell, look at Disney and what its done with the M-She-U.
Not to mention its the first trailer and I feel we should give it some time before we fully judge what this movie can do. After all people assumed that Puss in Boots 2 was gonna suck yet look how that turned out.
Plus from what I saw the movie doesn't look that bad, not to mention the G1 cartoon was a comedy series and this feels like it harkens back towards those roots which I'm okay with. Not to mention Prime and Megs (or Orion and D-16) seem to be relatively young and not so serious which is were I feel the next two movies in this trilogy will go with. For those who have no idea this is meant to be one of three movies depicting the rise and fall of Prime and Megs relationship from brother in arms to mortal enemies. If I had to guess this one will probably be more lighthearted in comparison to the next two since I expect Megs to fully turn on Prime by the third movie which will be where the actual dark shit will rear its ugly head.
Also I'm excited for the fact were actually getting the quintesson war which lead to cybertrons freedom (which means that Soundwave might get involved as he is often portrayed as having a part in their downfall) as that particular part of cybertrons history has never been shown in a movie or a TV show before. and before anyone says anything the one in cyberverse is not the same as the quintesson war took place CENTURIES before the Autobot Decepticon war whilst the cyberverse one took during it.

I think this trailer is misleading. Yeah there's funny scenes, but I can imagine it going a darker path when D-16 becomes Megatron.
It looks like the movie will have the cybertronians as a whole vs the quintessons. Which would be pretty cool to see decepticons and autobots fighting together and be friends. Before their own war.

The combat and the lore gets me some serious hype…. But I’m not huge on the noses. Transformers are a line to walk and these particular noses are getting a little uncanny valley for me. Also I hope we get some weirder voices, far too many soon to be deceptions sounding like normal ass dudes. But I think it has some serious potential! I think the trailer itself could have been done much better, but that’s usually not even made by the same studio, so I’m holding off any real judgment.

It's not for me & that's alright I think my little one will enjoy it & if it brings more eyes to the franchise that's what it's all about & revenue will make it possible to do other things like new figures for adult collectors
