For me it looks better that way anyways I prefer the dolby dark look I'm someone who likes using this tv with more of the correct eotf. Sure I add some stuff to it here and there but I do prefer the correct eotf.
Dolby dark follows EOTF. Think of gradation preferred and brightness preferred as offsets. Gradation preferred will darken while brightness preferred will lift it. The same applies with Dolby Bright. When looking at the EOTF tracking if Dark/off is accurate, let's say 0, Bright/off lifts that to 3. Bright/gradation drops it to 1. Dark/gradation would be like -2. Dark/brightness would be like a 2. Bright/brightness would be like a 5. So generally when using bright I would use it with gradation so it's not lifting as drastically. I didn't show all the different combinations that would extend the video unnecessarily. The point was that scene to scene dark versus bright isn't what they are titled. For some scenes bright with brightness preferred can be darker than dark/off even. Because it's essentially a crap shoot, I'm just going to stick with dark/off to know that it's accurate. And yes, all OLEDs suffer metamorism, as do Quantum Dot and other types of panels.
