I was shocked when I heard that. these new cars cost so much but are so cheaply put together its not even funny. Love your vids. Thanks for letting us ride along. I know it's not always convenient on the job, but I did notice you have a nice phone with you. I googled "gmc truck into neutral" and got immediate results. Owner's manuals also identify "service mode" instructions.
Press and hold the start/stop button with key fob with you and foot off the brake pedal for 3-5 sec. lights on your dashboard will flash and your truck will go into ACC mode now you can move the gear lever to neutral by pressing on the brake and shifting to neutral.
From owners manual. Service Mode This power mode is available for service and diagnostics, and to verify the proper operation of the malfunction indicator lamp as may be required for emission inspection purposes. With the vehicle off, and the brake pedal not applied, pressing and holding the button for more than five seconds will place the vehicle in Service Mode. The instruments and audio systems will operate as they do when the ignition is on, but the vehicle will not be able to be driven. The engine will not start in Service Mode. Press the button again to turn the ignition off.

We were out shopping and someone had a yukon die in the middle of a busy intersection. There was a decent slope - so I jumped out, told her let's find the neutral switch get the thing rolled away. 5 minutes later and SHOCKED to find out there is zero easy way to put these newer GMs into neutral. I ended up getting the thing to start and barely run and got it out of the intersection. But very, very surprised that you can't put a newer GM into any sort of neutral mode.

It is using a shifter.

Having worked at a BMW dealer the past 7 years, my brand definitely helps keep the towing business afloat. I always wondered how drivers contended with our cars that don't go into N without tools and niche knowhow. Very interesting!

I know I definitely do. He’s the only person I watch for a tow truck driver. I won’t watch nobody else. I like how he explains stuff to people and he takes his time and he treats peoples vehicles like it’s his vehicle. What other tow truck driver out there would do that and take their time and so far Dustin is the only one.

People criticize Toyota. GM has been dealing with this for years. They literally destroyed the dependability of the LS based engines.

We criticize Toyota because the turbos are failing prematurely on the new Tundras. Besides that, Toyota has had quality control problems since 2009/2010.

At least toyota takes care of their customers. Total engine replacement. Look at all the recalls for ram, gm and especially Ford. Tundra has always had the highest resale value of all full size trucks.

@@Davidami48 That's all brand name bias that stemmed from them being what was the most reliable manufacturer. Sure you can get a total engine replacement - in 2-3 months time. Can you truly have a vehicle down for that long? If I was in a State that had the lemon laws, you can sure believe that I would file for suit on that.

This is not only a safety issue for the owner of the truck, but a safety issue. The people towing these vehicles all the extra time spent on the side of the road increasing the chances of something happening with all that traffic whizzing by. Dangerous!

Any “American” made vehicle these days are just straight trash. Had an Escalade 2015 and it only made it to 123,000 something miles. I used to be an Aircraft Mechanic and stayed on that thing like a Citation Jet…… oil every 3,000 miles, trans every 25,000 just on top of all the fluids and maintenance…….. And still 123,000 miles before the engine block started cracking. I’m with Lexus now and I’m not going back to anything else.
