you say they added 3.5 mm stack but in another review someone explained they just changed the way they measure and now include the outsole and insole (?), so in fact it's the same amount of foam.
Just connected with ASICS to confirm that it is their measurement change. Thanks for the catch there. Compared to my version 4, the sensations I note in the video are still there, but not due to the increased height of the foam, obviously :)
I think I heard that Asics just changed the way they measure stack height, instead of just looking at midsole height, now they measure from outsole to insole. Not sure, if there's a true increase in stack?? in Novablast 4 vs. 3.
I have nb 3 and have been running for 8 months, bought nb 4 on 25/02, have run 8 times but found that nb4 is less bouncy and lacks bounce, today I just gave it to my sister to use, run and use nb3 again. Thanks
Novablast 3 is one of kind shoe that really doesn't feel/run like a traditional asics, hence why so popular as it broke the mold with its looks, feel and versatility-the Novablast 4 looks like traditional asics and from what I hear, rides and feels like most other asics shoes. Will grab a discounted NB3 and stick with the Superblast
Novablast 4 is quite similar to superblast. Slightly softer slightly less foam same characteristics. Novablast 3 seems like it was softer less stable less responsive shoe but seems some preferred that cusion/bouncy feeling. If viewed with stats/times there wouldn't be anything in it at all. Just a slightly different feeling transferring from the ground.
The upper and the outsole of v4 look like they're improved and I like a stiffer forefoot rocker. I am a little concerned about all the bulk around the heel. I hope it doesn't feel too intrusive. As a solid midfoot striker, I don't need it so built up.
Did you try out the v4? I'm really curious about that forefoot rocker because I also like stiffer rockers. Glideride 3 was great and the new Max is heavier, so wondering if the Novablast 4 would be an alternative...
Idk if someone is considering this but going from really wonderfull design and colors in NB3 to horiffic design and color in NB4 is for me total no-go even if it would be the best shoe in universe...
that posterior sidewall move and wider base is def a big change for me. V3 was still a little too unstable for me. excited for the slightly more stable ride. like the cumulus but feel like its missing something, hopefully this is it.
when u say missin sumthing, do u jus mean like that bit of pop that makes it more fun? im thinking between the cumulus and nb4 to so wondering how it went
Could you clarify a bit on the forefoot cushioning? You had mentioned that the foam felt a bit more firm than v3 (as did Matt in his video), but also said that the deeper grooves made it more bouncy. Does the forefoot feel similar, softer, or firmer than v3? I found v3 to be a bit too soft in the forefoot and got excited when I heard that v4 was a smidge firmer.
Similar but a bit firmer. It does feel slightly firmer AND bouncier, whereas the 3 was softer and maybe slightly mushier (though still had good bounce…just mushier in comparison). The deeper grooves around the central “pod” in the forefoot eventuate the forefoot cushioned feel in the new version despite being slightly firmer feeling. Hope that helps
I’m almost 400km into my second pair of NB3 and I have the superblasts saved for when I retire them. I skipped the NB4 because it just seems like it’s too similar to the SB but without all the turbo foam. I just went and bought another pair of NB3 in that original orange and black colorway 😅 scared they’ll be out of stock soon.
@@EirikkinserdalSomeone said the new Fuelcell in Elite v4 is Pebax or dual-density (x + Pebax) but I haven’t heard anything official. Now it’s a really soft nitrogen infused compound like you said.
I don't know what it is about my running style that made the NB3 a sluggish shoe for me. It's a bit annoying that the NB3 was so popular and the Glideride3 no so much as it seems to have altered the development priorities from Asics. Glideride for me is a much smoother, daily trainer that requires less effort for the same pace as the Novablast. Please create more GR3's / 4's
@@nate.docsofrunning interesting. I have a massive MTP. It looks like my big toe has been bolted onto the side of my foot. I like Asics roomy toeboxes for this reason. I also like the tilt that guide soles give me like on the Metaspeed+ edge. I used to go with very high drop until i discovered the guidesole. What do you think you would recommend to your patients now?
You definitely can but if you’re goal is time based there are better racing options. If your goal is to simply finish comfortably it can definitely handle the distance.
@@DoctorsofRunning it’s my first half marathon and I’m planning to run below 1:50. I’m just a beginner and need comfortable shoes. Thanks for an answer.

I'll reach out to ASICS to see what they have to say on that. Thanks for the note.

@@nate.docsofrunning wow, that was fast. thanks.
I have bad foot slapping in the Novablast 3. Same problem in the 4?
I got a Novablast 3 on sale for £89 when the 4 dropped. Done my first half marathon in it. What a beast of a shoe, for a heavier runner it’s heaven
Thanks for this. I'm looking for a fall hm shoe as well. Still torn bet this and speed 3 actually.

Heard the same thing. There's no stack difference
Yes, I just confirmed that with ASICS. Thanks for the note on it!
Great review, as an Athletic Trainer always appreciate your perspective.
I love the fact that every single one of you made a different video!
DOR never disappoints with comparison vids 🔥

V3 my favorite. Currently wearing a pair of v2s... they're also great. Getting v4 for Christmas this year 🙂

I’m skeptical with the 4th version. I love my NB 3 too much.

V2 has AHARplus, v3 AHAR, v4 AHARlow, v5 AHARnone.... v2 and veTr is the best for me in this lineup
the novablast 3 LE has a similar heal compared to the 4
Any news on the new updated and revamped fuelcell thats going to be used in the rebel v4 and sc elite 4?
We are yet to learn more about this, but I'm sure we will, soon!
You already know more than we do! 🤣
It can't possible be the same compound. It looks a lot like lightstrike pro, which i hope it is. Current fuelcell is just too soft 😅

Hi Doctor
Is the Novablast 4 suitable for all day walking and standing?
Thank you
@@revivalist70 hello! The ASICS nimbus / Kayano would be better options for that!
Can you give us an update regarding these shoes? The NB3s are on sale would like to make a decision before they run out
I'd go with the 3 on sale.
@@nate.docsofrunning thanks
which shoes / equipment do u reckon for rainning days to keep the feet dry ?
So NB3 better than the NB4? Price and use?
Is there a stable version of novablast?
The closest thing is the ASICS GT 2000 v12
