How can the coach be too soft on Cody and Latrell for 1 1/2 years where they make the Preliminary Final in 2022 and then lead the comp after 11 rounds in 2023? Doesn't make sense this preferential treatment nonsense, otherwise how could they have been that successful for his first 1 1/2 years.
Illias is a 9 not a halfback. Get him to replace Cook when he retires and then fill in at 7 if ever needs to, Jack Whiton to 6 for the rest of the yr, Cody to 7. Next year Dion Teaupa to 6, New kid at 7, Whiton back to 14. Jye Gray at FB all day long and Trell at 3. ...Walker and Cook both 35 yrs old. time to go
I think a major problem was getting the right players into the most useful backline positions... Domino effect started with getting with fullback wrong. IMO Latrell, for all his individual brilliance,... has never been a fullback that inspires team mates to bust a gut. If he doesn't feel like running the ball back from deep kicks for meters, he simply tosses the ball to the winger with a fraction of his tackle breaking ability to carry the ball back and take the defensive hit... Hardly inspiring.... Can you imagine Teddy or Reece Walsh doing that? He jogs when he should sprint to cut things off,... and he needs way to much recovery after every run.. You can work around it with Latrell at centre but he gets found out bigtime at fullback for fitness and effort.. If the opposition get into the backfield Latrell is sometimes simply too late to arrive and defend the corners. Souths punted back-up fullback Blake Taaffe because they wrongly thought Latrell would be fit and motivated enough to play the fullback role all season... All Souths got instead is a player I who I think is frustrated by how fast the game is being played in 2024.. A super talented but immature 27 years old player who still lashes out recklessly like he believes no one has a right to tackle him... Wighton at centre on one side, Latrell at centre on the other With Johnson or even Wighton at fullback. Left long enough to settle into the role is my best option for the rest of 2024. Now the chaos caused by Latrell being suspended flows down the line and we see Souths promoting the smallest and newest fullback in the NRL, Jye Gray to battle premiers Penrith in just 2 days as Souths fullback. 170 cm... 20 years old and a whole 78 kilo's... Desperate times force desperate decisions... Cranky but foxy old Cody is by far Souths best 5/8 option and Ilias should be called back in to play out the season (when fit) as halfback as originally planned,.. Leaving Ilias to rot in NSW cup and lose his confidence after all the investment/off season put into him was just crazy. Yes, the Rabbits have lots of injuries to key players, especially forwards but I'll say this,...double standards of accountability and lazy efforts destroy moral like nothing else..
At least Joey Johns went into details about Souths on-field problems. He said they lack go forward & needs a couple more front rowers. The journos just feed into their racist fan base & blame Latrell & Cody, when in fact the whole team hasn’t performed. They also have no halfback, so the administration has something to answer for that

I don't hate Walker and Mitchell but is time to say goodbye .I forgot Johnson and Milne but is understandable the club needs to rebuild from scratch.

Walker and cook are in the twilight of their careers, burgess is leaving to go back to England after this year and with Mitchell they don’t know what to do with him . He IS a centre not a fullback . And they are stuck with Wightons contract for another 4 years . They sack the coach but the club needs a complete rebuild from top to bottom .
Cody walker is a disgrace on the feild if u ever watch a game live off camera he yells and screams at his teammates. Latrell is overweight plain and simple has been now for 5 or 6 years. When he burst onto the scene he was lean and scoring meat pies for fun
