    I've had the S4 TDI for a year now. I love it... unbelievable torque. Super smooth and handles on rails. And still can get 54 mpg on a long run....

      I strufggled to find a downside with the S4 TDi tbh. If I was being super pick, maybe the styling could be a little more flamboyant, but then thats what the S4 has always been - an under the radar performance car.

      I'm picking mine up on Saturday, I can't wait after the roadtest which was phenomenal. I have waited a long time to find a car which fully meets my requirements after owning my last car for eight years, and this is spot on.

    The gearbox lag is supposedly something audi put in deliberately to make it "smoother" can be tuned out

    Which is better? Considered the following: sound, reliability, parts cost, etc

    • @JamesGlenCarSales1982
      @JamesGlenCarSales1982  6 дней назад +1

      Sound doesn't really come into it with a big diesel like these, although, I wasn't really a fan of the 'speaker in exhaust' in the Audi. Reliability, I'm going to say the 340d, but really only down to having more experience with the BMW though and the fact the Police stopped using the Audi's due to gearbox issues and parts costs will be very similar.

    I test drove both the S4 and m340d, but went for the M340d MHT as I preferred the handling, it feels quite rear wheel biased (which is fun). I spec’d the M340d with a few nice bits like the nice M Sport Seats, Laser Lights, Heads up, Harman Karden, Comfort Plus etc etc. But yes, the Audi is lovely - but for me the M340d is the winner.

    • @JamesGlenCarSales1982
      @JamesGlenCarSales1982  Год назад +2

      I was genuinely surprised how good the S4 was, when compared to such a complete package as the M340d - but at the end of the day, the BMW is just more, well, more like a BMW !

    My first love was BMW but I do like the new S4 Tdi…
    I’ve had E39 530i which was epic!
    335i covetable
    2018 Audi E4 petrol avant, had 2 boys so needed the space!
    Was unsure of the TDI but have been pleasantly surprised! I’m getting a combined of 31mpg vs 19 with the petrol S4, but 50mpg on a long motorway trip!
    Torque is epic! But I want more so I’m looking at tuning options! Couldn’t afford the RS4 at the time!

      @JamesGlenCarSales1982  Год назад +1

      Hi Colin, a bit like me with the 335d/M340d vs 340i/M340i, I went for the diesel too. I just think that type of car suits the nature of the diesel more and the added economy is hard to ignore.

    Seemed to be disbelief from you at points in this one, Stephen! The last great steering Audi i drove (R8 aside) was my B7 RS4 so this is a proper turn-up for the books. Like you though, I'll always lean towards BMW, however if this at least keeps BMW on their toes then that's not a bad thing at all; competition is good.

    Why is your logo so similar to Auto Trader's?

    • @JamesGlenCarSales1982
      @JamesGlenCarSales1982  Год назад +1

      Hi Chris, we have had black and red chevrons since 1982, back when Auto Trader used red and blue graduated strikes, meaning we were first. Our chevrons used to be end to end, but with the event of social media and needing a square logo to lend itself better to the common size for profile images like you see here and on FB etc, we had to stack them instead. Hope this helps, Stephen
