    As a Lakers fan I'm happy he's playing the the Bulls, all the Lakers did was disrespect him and try to trade him every year glad he's with a great team that puts him in a position to win

      Completely right, he was way more consistent than Bynum and he even sacrificed his offence to feed Drew the ball. I hate the Lakers management right now.

      furiousflexL33T When I was at a Laker home game during Pau last season the guy behind me kept yelling how he "sucked" and was "soft". I agree that a true fan base supports its players and team especially during the hard times. The rest are just bandwagoneers. When a team such as the Lakers have a history of winning people get spoiled. But when the arena seat are one of the highest prices in the NBA the Lakers organization do need to step it up now that David Stern has retired! I.e. Chris Paul trade block... With Pau, he's unrated! A big with multiple skill sets is hard to find!

    Pau is doing what we always knew he could do. It is hard playing alongside Kobe, Pau wasn't happy and Kobe was taking shots away from him.

    • @lolpauve
      @lolpauve 9 лет назад +9

      LeBeautiful In the late years yes. But Kobe and Pau had one of the best (offensive) partnerships at that time. Usually it was Kobe feeding him in the post even though he (Kobe) took a lot of shots as well. + The Pau/Kobe PnR game was borderline amazing.

    • @vanle3
      @vanle3 9 лет назад +4

      there is a lot of things you can blame kobe for but this is not one of them. these two were a pretty good duo. also, kobe was one of the few people that kept defending pau. having terrible coaches with no idea how to use him and a management that just tries to trade you all the time has a lot more to do with it. also, being disrespected by a lot of the fanbase doesn't help.

    • @LeBeautiful_RealOne
      @LeBeautiful_RealOne 9 лет назад +3

      I am not blaming or criticizing Kobe. Bosh went through the same thing playing with LeBron and that is just how it is. I don't think y'all watched Pau when he played for the Grizzlies. Pau was a beast!

    • @nikosvault
      @nikosvault 9 лет назад

      LeBeautiful You can't play that game. Kobe did not make Pau a jumpshoter like Lebron did with Bosh. Lebron needed the open lane. That was not part of the triangle or Mike Brown's offense.
      His stats are the same as they were with the Lakers before D'Antoni.

    • @JamesHernandez__
      @JamesHernandez__ 9 лет назад

      I wouldn't say Kobe was the problem. The systems they ran after phil left wasn't good for him overall, the constant critiscm and the lack of talent didn't help either. Happy he's doing good now

    I'm all for calling Kobe on his crap, but Kobe was far from Pau's main problem. Ever since their last championship (maybe a little bit before that) the Lakers were open with how they were shopping Pau and obviously getting nothing for him, and that led to even their fan making some excuses of why he wasn't a high valued guy (ex. calling him soft). After a few years of this, even the toughest minded guy would feel like saying "fuck this" and want put himself away from that.
    It gets funny when you see Pau play International ball around the end of his Lakers career and the complete 180 of that Pau and the Pau in the Lakers. It became pretty obvious that the Lakers were trashing on the wrong guy.

      BBALLBREAKDOWN The only thing that makes me upset about Pau in Chicago is this shoulda happend in 2009 or 2010 when i believe he said he wanted to go to Chicago while the Lakers were shopping him around. I always thought Pau was underrated while in LA and would be perfect for the Bulls. Pau could of been 4-5 years younger, DRose could of been in his MVP frame, and the Bulls, Celtics, Pacers and Heat would of been battling it out for the last couple years to get to the ECF.

  • @ReCharredSigh
    @ReCharredSigh 9 лет назад +4

    coach nick, if say the opposing team had a top scorer who was absolutely on fire, but his teammates weren't touching the ball, would your defensive philosophy be either to let him keep shooting 1-on-1, or would you try to double him and let someone else beat you? because I've seen good arguments for both sides; dennis rodman said phil Jackson and chuck daly were more of the "let the top scorer beat you by himself" mentality. but it also seems that there's a lot of coaches who would rather test the waters and let a teammate try to beat you.

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  9 лет назад +7

      I've had success keeping the ball out of a top Scorers hands, but at the NBA level, I'd do my best to not have to double, just make him work as hard as possible, generally that gives u the best chance...

  • @Farzadhoss
    @Farzadhoss 9 лет назад +3

    I doubt that Kobe and Pau had difficulty playing together. I think the Lakers organization, specifically after the departure of Phil Jackson, felt that Pau wasn't part of their future success, even though Kobe kept insisting on keeping Pau. I just can't believe how they traded him for Boozer who is an inferior player in all departments.
    I mean Pau can shoot threes, shoots very well around the box, is a great post player and penalty shooter and also passes the ball incredibly well. Boozer isn't even close! He is constantly in foul trouble, he is a very inconsistent shooter, and can never compete at the level of Pau.

    • @AdrianRescept
      @AdrianRescept 7 лет назад

      Pretty much yeah, IMHO Pau has never really fitted in the USA "Starsystem" (juicy interviews, trash talking, beating his chest after every play) he is always been quite layd back when It comes to that, and that i think is the reason why he never got the love he deserved in LA( not until he left, oh the irony). Funny thing is his brother Marc raised in the US and he sure has that attitude, Marc is more defiant, likes being the centre of attention and beats his chest all the time, and at the end of the day Marc is more recognized as a player and gets more love than Pau ( even tho his absolutely inferior as a player, Marc might be a bit stronger than Pau but when It comes to post moves, ball handle, IQ, and mid and long range shots Pau is better in everything. Pau played like a monster for LA winning 2 titles and getting into 3 finals in a tope, and still rumors about him getting transfered never stopped. Never the hero when he gave masterclass, always the one to blame when he didn't has the day. But time always tells the truth and have no doubt, his number 16 jersey will be hanging un the Staples along all the other Legends.

    Hopefully the Bulls will figure out a way to stop the Hawks and hopefully D-Rose will get in his groove. Pau is a golden upgrade compared to Boozer, I guess Pau has more blocks thus far than Boozer in his 4 years in Chi-City. Coach Thibs does a great job, really proud to be a Bulls' fan.

      The Bucks probably thought that putting a smaller, somewhat quicker defender on him would negate Pau's open looks from outside. We've seen this tactic employed against Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant, when smaller perimeter defenders were used on them. Problem using that matchup against Gasol clearly is that Gasol has a great post-up game and inside touch to go with his length. Giannis should have had a go at him, no question.

  • @skillz0122

    Why?? When a solid player leaves the Lakers why do the fans and LA media try to convince everyone he sucks or is washed up? Remond Sessions was great for the Lakers, when he left they tried to convince the fans he wasn't that good. They kissed up to Dwight with Billboards and everything and when he left they threw dirt on his name. Sure Dwight's a clown and I don't think he could handle Los Angeles, but the organization tried to convince the fans losing him for nothing was ok and that he wasn't really that good anyway, which is untrue no matter how much you dislike him.
    There's been alot more too, but then we come to Pau Gasol. I see how every other teams gets blasted for losing star players for nothing. They said he was washed up and people down here bought into it. I've been living between LA and San Diego for the past 25 years, but I'm not a blind fan.

    • @BYSMA4th
      @BYSMA4th 9 лет назад

      The Lakers belong to Hollywood, not all of LA. The Lakers have been all about drama and driving a storyline. From the Showtime Era onwards, think about the different types of theater the Lakers have engaged in. So when D12 and Nash were brought into the Lakers, it was all about the "Big 5." Then when they flopped it was the fall of the Big 5, and then there was Kobe injury blowing up the media, then the Howard fiasco, the Steve Nash injury fiasco, etc etc. Mike D'antoni isn't really that bad of a coach, but since the Lakers weren't winning they started driving him to the ground. It's not like Byron Scott has changed the Lakers fortunes or anything, but he will be next to get trashed on after awhile.

    • @CrazyFoo501
      @CrazyFoo501 9 лет назад

      I liked Sessions but he really wasn't anything all that special. Quick but inconsistent shooter and poor defender. Dwight's a rare talent and was unfairly blamed for a few things. At the same time he was demanding the keys to the organization which wasn't gonna happen. He's good but have to be Kobe or Shaq tier to be worth demanding so much. Lakers could have been smarter handling him but he's not the GM either.
      Big loss defensively but offensively Dwight would be almost impossible to build a team around as the main option in the West, especially post back surgery. Funny thing is he ended up taking a similar role on the Rockets
      Pau on the other hand Lakers shat the bed with. After they got swept by the Mavs Lakers FO panicked and tried to trade Pau,Odom for CP3. I admire they are always pursing talent but they tried to pull the plug too quickly.
      Pau was never going to be carrying us into the future after Kobe retired but they immediately tried to have both Bynum and Howard replace his role. If they stuck with what got the Lakers 3 finals appearance and 2 rings, Kobe and Pau as the main duo, they might have gotten another ring similar to how the Spurs did. It's a bit disrespectful to both Pau and a lesser extent Kobe, and a lack of faith.
      I'm Glad Pau is doing well on the Bulls, I knew he was still great he just didn't get put in a position to succeed especially after hiring D'Antoni.

This channel would achieve what it set out for if there was a coach who knew how to actually BREAK BASKETBALL DOWN not just describe and give names to complicated things that nobody knows about except coaches and players. Kinda like Stacey King does for fans during bulls games except even more in depth because he doesn't have to do it over the air. momori momo 40+ for one game, wow....it's not as if Aldridge did that in two consecutive playoff games. bla bla bla he scored a bunch of points on a loser team....What is the Bucks record again?...bla bla bla. I don't even need to ask that because it's the Milwaukee Bucks...

      till the last 2 or 3 years how many players were ruined? everyone keeps blaming kobe but instead of him i blame d antoni and the lakers organization who didnt know the worth of pau nor d12

    • @lammatt

      Oguzhan Dogan odom, pau, DH12,all because of the you-know-who high volume shooter who shoots below 0.4. (he is currently 0.375)
      honest;y, if you think a 31mil player shooting more than half the team's shot at 0.375 is not the one to be blamed, you should think again.

      matt lam i am sorry who should shoot it? jeremy lin, carlos boozer,wesley johnson? there is only one player beside kobe that i can call good and that is nick young, this years roster is a disgrace so if i were the byron scoot i would tell kobe to jack up all the shots

      Oguzhan Dogan EVERYONE on the team shoots better than he does and he is the wrost +/- in the WHOLE TEAM.
      this is fact.
