As someone who started repainting his 20k+ of nids about three years ago haha, if you do do this, brace yourself, even with an airbrush haha, it's a fair bit of work haha.
@@MidwinterMinis i think it would be interesting to see nids painted like they're made out of human flesh. Like the bone and shell looks like finger nails, pink/yellow flesh, and bits of hair on main areas like it's emulating someone's hand textures.
Loving this type of narration, those V O I C E I N S E R T S, and music stings!This makes me feel like watching david attenborough/john carpenter coop movie.
No airbrush-club checking in! The regular magenta fluo worked good. Took longer as stated however... about 3 coats, not 100% perfect, but after wash and drybrush it looked like in the vid :)
Always excited to see a new video and 10-20 mins later the emptyness settles back in... Jokes aside, lovely Tutorial. Looking forward to Ants next appearance on the channel.
I've been looking for a nice basing technique that fits my 'Nids, and this just might be it! I'm already painting the gaps in their exoskeleton to look like gore, so a matching base would make perfect sense! The whole scheme is going to be: -Various metallic colors for the carapace (allows for practice with NMM as well as testing different metallic paints, but the troops will have holographic nail flakes like Midwinter Minis used for the Eldar speedpaint video) -Various human skin tones for the exoskeleton (allows for practice with blending for the big boys, custom contrast paints for the little gribblies, and overall color theory practice to mix the skin tone paints myself) -Gore-colored gaps in the exoskeleton, with matching gory "half-digested planet" theme for the base, as shown in this video -Off-white details for claws, hooves, teeth, and eyes This scheme gives me a ton of opportunities to try new things while keeping with the army theme, and I'll be labeling each batch of models with roman numerals on the rim of the base, to show the order in which I painted them. This will help me see my progress as a painter over time! I'm super excited to finally get my old, busted up secondhand army to look tabletop ready!
Thank you so much for posting this. I have wanted to try this scheme for a while now. and the basing was an unexpected tip that I will be trying as well.
My friend gave me the Brood Swarm box for my birthday (I know, it's insanely expensive. I was shocked.) He knew I loved tyranids and he got me really into this. (He plays Space wolves and I'm trying to save up a bit extra to get him a dreadnought because they look fun to paint and a couple other things at some point. Please let me know if Space Wolves can use them and the best units for me to get him.) Plus I love creating and coloring. I'm already planning out colors but it's so awesome to see a channel where someone is actually painting these! You're so good at painting and I would feel clueless without these videos (and my friend XD). We're going to a warhammer store in a few days to look at paints and this gives me more confidence. Please do more of these, maybe carnifex, malanthrope, or haruspex in a different theme. If you did the harridan or bio-titan you'd be my favorite RUclipsr. Anyways, keep painting!
this colour scheme really pops and it is going to be great to paint when I make my tyranid army! I am just doing some custom necrons at the moment which I have nicknamed deathglow infernal necrons because of their glowing red rage on an otherwise mostly black paint scheme
Recently got tyranid battlebox being inspired by watching ant on your channel, would love to see more videos from him too, his painting is very eye catching.
this was such a wonderful video!! i gotta say, i know that the music you have for these videos is made specially for the channel, but i couldnt help but notice some similarities between this video's tunes and navarro base music in fallout 2!! fantastic tunes and vids as always!! :3
I agree 100% to buy a cheaper airbrush to get started with airbrushing. You can use it for priming and basing while you get a feel for airbrushing. Best part is they hold value quite well and you can upgrade at any point if you want to buy a more expensive one. Oh yeah and it's WAY more forgiving to clean and maintain a cheaper airbrush for the first time than with a $200+ model.
Something about Ants voice just makes me feel very safe and cosy
I want a recording with Guy on one audio channel and Ant on the other and they can both tell me how much of a good job I'm doing.
I'm amazed how not-awkward Ant sounds during the video. Usually people struggle really hard when they don't do this full time, he's doing great!
He is a CONSUMATE professional!
Finally, a video about Tyranids by someone who can pronounce 'chitin' correctly ❤️
Yesssss, i am really thinking about repainting all my nids as this scheme is amazing. The scheme is just perfect for me lol
Time to get STRIPPING :D

Mitchell and Webb are heavy influences on our presentation style, haha

What a sexy thumbnail ! And a beautiful scheme !

@T E that is really creative, I like that scheme a lot
a trick : you can watch series on Kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies recently.
I you think they're eye-burning now, go and point a blacklight at them, that magenta fluo will reveal the true powers of making eyes water
Just marginally better than my painted nids, maybe only a 1000% better lol, hope you guys are well and stocking up on nappies and wet wipes =)

What an awesome idea for the bases..... I am very impressed. This man understood the assignment!
Great video from Ant. A fantastic colourway. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work.
I'm basking in Ants positivity. What a great guy and what a great guide.
Starting a new tyranids army and you upload this video! I see our bond to the hive mind is strong !
The segment about the airbrush was nice, would be great to have a full video on getting started with airbrushing.

This is super handy as I have a Tyranid army that's been waiting to get painted for ages. My Hydra swarm will be painted this summer I swear. :P
