Random guy “I can’t paint minis because I’m colourblind”
MWM Guy “I’m colourblind, I’m going to create one of the biggest mini painting channels on RUclips”
Defeatist attitudes are a plague. I have bad eye damage in one eye giving me a large blind spot in the center of my vision which also means I have no literally no depth perception when I'm looking at something. Didn't paint for the longest time because I thought this would make it near impossible. When I finally gave it a shot the first squad I did was far above tabletop standards. Adapt and overcome.
Wonder what his reaction would be with those glasses
I have double vision in both eyes, where i essentially see 3 or 4 versions of the same image...Im now a commission painter :D
*tearful salute*
Haha, you're too nice. Let's see how nice you are next week though, after our collab... wait, are we suppose to be keeping it a secret? D-:
Smart. Starting a warhammer channels so you can mark it as a business expense
Big brain time!
@@MidwinterMinis this gives me an idea
@@MidwinterMinis +1
Dude, that xenomorph scheme is *chef’s kiss*
Right? Legit makes me want to start a Tyranid army.
i love the colour scheme as they actually look like genestealers rather than the creamstealers gw paint them as
Creamstealers hahah
@@AconKirt No one's custard cream biscuits shall be safe!
Creamstealers, the genetically engineered breakfast cereal kids can't get enough of
Ah yes, creamstealers
Arch-enemies of the Adeptus Custardes
Creamstealers!
The “Alien” color scheme was awesome. I liked the stabby color effects! Keep up the GREAT videos, Guy!
I think I’m going to try it!
Would like to like but can't, it is on the funny number.
Not going to lie I laughed when you flexed the RUclips award
I laughed when I did it ;)
I’m honestly just happy to see that he got the award. He earned it.
@@MidwinterMinis Congratulations to Penny for getting the 100,000 award
Those things are worth flexing!
Same
This was posted the actual moment I sat down to paint my own Space Hulk genestealers. I'm scared.
lol same - bought off Ebay a week ago, cracked open last night and oh look a guide on how to paint a 6 year old game pops up today.
Cheers for the tips - Going with glossy black and blood covered white for mine.
The great devourer watchesssss
Guy put cameras in your place. Now thin your paints and go finish those 'stealers! 😂
Same, I'm using the terminators in a deathwatch army I'm building instead of dropping more money on separate terminator squads. Spooky
such a good omen
Definitely like the xenomorph one the best. It's done so quickly, but looks so 'natural'.
The classic scheme kind of looks like a scary alien just came to work in his pyamas.
"I've chosen some paints with good opacity..."
*stares at Flash Gitz Yellow*
Ugh you can keep your flash gitz yellow. Yuck!
'It's an ugly planet, a bug planet'
That's the paint scheme that was missing, one of the arachnids from starship troopers.
Mediiiiiiiiiccccc!!!!!!!
I'd love to see a whole Tyranid Army painted up like Xenomorphs in this style. So good!
Feeling guilty - I only ever painted the Terminators and the genestealers remain unpainted, hiding in the same metal Quality Street tin since 1989!
Blurple!
My favourite is the Gigerseque one, that is really nicely done. I also have a soft spot for the classic Genestealer colours, as the original Genestealer Chaos Cult army list was first published in the first White Dwarf I ever bought - issue 116, in 1989!
By the way, it looks like you really need to scrape some dried paint out of the lid of your pot of yellow paint, if you want it to stay useable for much longer.
We used to call them the California Raisins
2:33 -- Priming your palette. Smart lad! That tip alone makes the video.
It’s like Gordon Ramsey seasoning the outside of the oven.
I had the original issue with both expansions and painted over fifty of these things in original purple colour. I still twitch when I see a Genestealer. Great vid as always 😃
Dana Howl and Midwinter Minis, two great tastes that go great together.
“All your paints will still be wet on your pallette”
*cries in Australia*
I feel you brother
Isn't it winter there right now? How deep is the snow?
Midwinter Minis, it winter but yesterday I cooked an egg on the sidewalk
@@MidwinterMinis We only had a little bit, but the paint still dried in a minute.
@@MidwinterMinis How deep is a freezer? cos that's only snow you'll get around here xD
The flexing part with the Silver Button is my favourite
Midwinter minis upload! Go Go Go!
So true
I've always been a fan of the classic Genestealer color scheme, and you did it really well.
"it's been sitting on your shelf unpainted for at least 6 years now"
Never felt so personnaly attacked by a youtuber before :P
Being obsessed with The Guyver is a perfectly natural feeling.
They look really good, well done 🙂
You sir, are a gentleman. I have been looking at my Space Hulk box for ages, daunted by the volume of genestealers but I’ll have them all primed and ready for paint tonight. After painting up the BSF sets and seeing the amazing result I got following along, I can’t wait for this.
The fact he can paint so many models that look amazing fast while colorblind is amazing!
Space Hulk and your Beginners video are what got me into Warhammer. I really appreciate that you got me into a new hobby.
Hatty knocked all of her’s out the park and Guy’s 90s and Leviathan were legit.
Well done.
Now I feel bad that I haven't painted mine yet. I guess its a Tyranid army for 9th!
Just remember, it's Guy's fault!😂
Do it! :D
I'm in the middle of making up a GSC and Tyranid army. My friend is basically as salty as Hexagon about them being trash but, the collectors edition rule book says otherwise. Nids are coming and they're approaching Terra.
Tbh I'm not a competitive person. I play with things that are rule of cool, and GSC and nids are cool as heck :D
Same here, but the idea was there quite some time^^'
as far as I and the people in r/Tyranids can tell, they are not going to be anywhere near good during the beginning of 9th, hopefully that gets sorted out eventually.
still isn't an excuse for me to stop painting my nids though!
I love the ET inspired one, great idea for the reddish wash!
Seeing Dana Howl on the patron list makes me happy!
"It's been sitting on the shelf for at least 6 years"
No, More like 11
"Maybe 30"
No, that one has only been there for 24 years 😳
Sitting on your shelf for almost as long as Penny has been alive!
Midwinter Minis yo one of my fav content creators just took a hiatus from RUclips bc of the difficulty of being on this platform. Pls make sure you take a break/holiday when u need to - we want you tu have a healthy channel. Take care dude
This is still a fantastic game to play. The green skin looked good closely followed by the cream coloured one. Loved it all
The best flex of the silver plate I've ever seen on RUclips.
I can't wait to see what you'll do when you'll have the gold one you truly deserve!
Surprised by how much I loved the green scheme, definitely my favourite
Man, I miss my old Genestealer army. The hobby shop where I used to live had a bunch of Space Hulk and Tyranid Attack games for their players to play and would sell the minis from the games for 25 cents each, I bought a lot of them. This was about the time of the White Dwarf Genestealer army list, All I have left is three of the Tyranids that must have been put away in my Battle Masters or Warhammer Quest games. 30 years later and I'm getting back into the hobby with my sons so it's a lot of fun! I wish I had your tutorials back then! :) Keep up the great work!
Love the RUclips backdrop, great way to showcase the minis. All are great but partial to the shiny black and classic.
really love the brown one. it feels the most natural, like it could be a real horrifying alien. Gene-stealers always start feeling "fake" when they are brighter fancier colours
You just had to upload this the day after I finished my genestealers!
I liked all of them but mostly the last, classic colours of the Space Hulk DOS Game from 1993. Great job!
Love the H.R Giger scheme, simple, but very striking
Gloss off-black looks awesome, almost pearlescent. Wow.
They mostly paint them at night. mostly. Those Giger style ones are fantastic! loved the subtle colours.
Nice variety of schemes. Your tutorials make batch painting seem both fun and plausible.
30 years. Bought mine in 1989. Still my favorite GW game.
Love that xenomorph scheme. Inspired a new genestealer cult army!
Yeah... I can't choose a favorite, because they're all so... Geiger. It's the Geiger. Such a creative approach!
Great schemes! Goes to show how effective one can be in very little time at the table.
Painting the plastic tray gray. Genius!
That green scheme is an excellent Hive Fleet Gorgon look!
I know this video is older but your tips and instruction are the best I have ever seen. I mainly wanted to start painting for the mcfarlane warhammer figures. You explanation and demonstration is perfect. Thank you so much.
That Geiger inspired stealer though... man, so simple, yet so well done!
11 years I've had my space hulk box waiting for paint! My Space Hulk box is strangely important to me, because I was homeless for a few years and it was the last thing I recovered from my house. Despite the elements (and the slugs!!) the box wasn't damaged at all.
All the colour schemes look great but I think the green one seems the most interesting, having never seen genestealers painted that way before, and given the context of classic aliens. I'm quite partial to the xenomorph colour scheme too.
Nice video. Reminds me of my tyranid army back in the days of 3rd ed. Liche Purple, drybrushed Blood Red, with claws Bleached Bone drybrushed over Bronzed Flesh. Those paints are still going strong over 20 years later!
Finaly a speed painting guide for alien style Genestealers. 👍
Either the green or the Xenomorph style is my favorite. Makes me want to go full Cthulhu on a Lictor model.
My space marine army of old was born out of that Space Hulk box, as was my friend Theresa's Tyranids. Her idea of a 'charge' was to pick up a handful and sprinkle them onto the unit she was planning to destroy. This was 2nd edition, so a successful charge by Genestealers was certain death for any unit!
Quoting the late, great Bill Paxton in one of his best roles, from the best film ever made... You sir definitely deserve my smashing of the Like button
The xenomorph scheme is genius. It's so hard to make black interesting. Thanks Guy!
15:12 Awww he has a onesie on! How cute
I hope we see another release of this... I'd love to play it.
The way you did the claws in this gives me a lot of info on how to fix my botched Shadowhulk. thanks!
I really liked the xenomorph and the green color schemes. I have ever seen models that had that wet look about them.
Haha. The play button flex 👍
So many good memories of this game.
Really love the wet gloss look. Will try to remember it for any future projects.
Blüerple is my new favorite color.
I like all of them but especially the lubricated boy and the talented pole dancer.
Great video!
That green look so much better than i was expecting!
Love your Xenomorph-Style & Pvt. Hudson Quote ♥
The Xenomorph for sure!!!! I've done something similar for mine but I've used purple and bright green!
Midwinter: says "Xenomorph"
Me: *SMASHES LIKE BUTTON*
This message is loved by a guy called Guy.
Joshua Hamer lol check again it worked
Ooh, I love Genestealers, they were the first models I ever painted as a lad
Hmm, I may have to do a squad of Xenomorphs. That turned out very cool.
Awesome! I love the aliens one! Thanks for sharing.
Good to see a Guyver shout out. There are still a few of us fans floating around out there.
I literally spun around on my chair and there was Space Hulk behind me on the shelf and I could hear its tiny cries of 'paint me, paint me'. No excuses now, oh wait of course I have excuses. Great work Guy. I fancy giving the Alien scheme a try with a few twists of my own. 'Stabby, stab'.
Green is definitely my favorite
The green one looks SICK!
I've been absorbing all your tips and tricks for a couple of months and yesterday I give myself some courage to paint my first miniature! I found myself remembering/using a lot of the info you give and that made me felt more confident, soooo thanks a lot!
Very nice. That zenomorph glossy scheme. Very nice.
Please always do painting videos, I could watch them all day!
The black glossy one look amazing!!
I like the green paint scheme, much as I realise you were going for typical alien fare, it gave me a pretty heavy Creature from the Black Lagoon vibe which I love.
I just got done a couple of weeks ago with my 2e Space Hulk genestealers, goodness what a chore! But I have the 3e/4e 'stealers yet to paint, and this is the perfect guide. THANK YOU! You got a subscription, sir.
I love that green scheme!!
I went into games workshop (Warhammer) for the 1st time in 17 years today. Got un-assembled & unpainted gaunts box from 2001 out of the loft and will be returning to painting. This is mainly down to your videos, so thanks for the inspiration.
These are my favorite videos. I love to see the process of painting and the love that comes with the craft. Thanks!
MWM Guy "come on now , its been sitting on the shelf for at least 6 years.."
Me " those are rookie numbers , you gotta pump those numbers up"
Woot for more speed painting!!!!!
Instantly want to repurchase this game and paint it! The Alien Genestealer is amazing and so so simple.
My Tyranids belong to "Hive Fleet Bumble"
I base coat the model black, then on all the chitinous armour plating I paint on patterned markings similar to that found on wasps.
I start the pattern with a dark yellow and gradually blend up to an extremely bright yellow finish. I do the same yellow colour scheme on all of their Rending Claws, scything Talons & Boneswords.
I have no shooting weapons within my army! only sharp, pointy stabby ones! I wanted to symbolise a wasp/bee's stinger within my armies theme.
I picked out the eyes & tongues with a bright vibrant green (GW Moot Green) to really make them pop on the models.
I then used (GW Ardcoat) on all of the chitinous armour plating & all the sharp, pointy stabby weapons to finish the models. The paint scheme looks striking when you deploy the army for a game the vast size differences in the models pulls it all together as my hungry horde rushes across the battlefield.
for ages ive been thinking of doing hive fleet locust, with obvious coloration inspiration
@@Pyrenthius That sounds really cool. One gamer at my local club has painted her Tyranids based on Coconut Crabs they look awesome.
@@tootyfrooty7604 i hope she has some big claw carnifex to really sell that claw transition ( had to look up some images as i didnt know what they looked like :) ). sounds awesome
Sounds awesome! Would love to see some pictures of those.
Beautiful models, seriously well painted and in that time!!!😱 nice job!
Awesome. Takes me back to my youth
Tbh I love them all but that might be from the fact that you painted them so well. HOWEVER, OG Genestealer and Xenostealer look absolutely gorgeous.
Also Space Hulk Terminator speed paint when? I'd love to see some wacky but still badass schemes.
I've been watching miniature painters youtube for so long now - you finally provided a HD close-up of the color consistency after adding water. Usually people only reference skim milk. I think this helps a lot for many new painters.
Also: favorite color scheme is the xenomorph
The E.T. paint is sooooo good, maybe I repaint my old tyranids like that
i remember painting my first genestealer 30 years ago as a 13 year old in a purple and pink colour scheme. but i must say your "alien" inspired version is top class.
Really love your speedpainting tutorials specelly this one becuase it had multiple color schemes
Love to see more of your speed paints, they're always so relaxing to watch and listen to late at night with the lights off and the dark moody tunes. I don't even paint/play warhammer!
The green colour scheme is awesome 👍
