Here's my tier list(I'll also provide a second rating trying to judge how much value the genre provided, but the first rating is strictly my own): F Tier: Gacha Games(F both in personal enjoyment and ESPECIALLY in it's impact on gaming) In their very slight defence, those games came from even darker era, from era of *Korean MMOs(or even regular MMOs too) and mobile games* if you think Gacha games are bad, ya haven't played or seen mobile games or MMO games more. Gacha games ate unironically an improvement on korean MMOs and mobile games in terms of greed, they became way less greedy and even have pity system where eventually if you unbox enough, you'll still get the reward. But that's like a very slight defence of them(also I don't really think monetisation system should get it's own genre, if that's the case where are subscriptions genre or F2P genre?). Romance games also get F in both personal and overall rating. No debates with you, you were spot on about them. Sports, Personally for me it's F tier but I think there's very very weak arguement for them to be D tier overall because some of them are good. MOBAS get an ez F tier in btoh categories. Literally mobas are why e sports are viewed as a joke, a toxic one at that. Seriously who even plays them or spectates them??? This sht is more mind numbing then strategy games which actually take brain power but mobas are also not really action-y and skill based, you just click... Souls like only get F tier from me personally, and maaybe B tier overall. I think the genres are more intertwined than it feels at first , battle royal games can FPS or TPS , most of souls likes can be classified as RPGs , Open word games can be RPGs or Action adventure which can be both at the same time , most of the genres you used are broad , and let not forget Metroivenias
Resident Evil 2 and 4...... casual words. Horror is S tier. When a solid horror game is revealed, we take notice. Also disagree about souls likes. My least favorite part of then are vague stories. Its the metroidvania style exploration which isn't simple, is the main appeal. I really can't pair games like XIII and Doom and Half Life with Call of Duty and Battlefield. The campaign is just there. It's just competitive shooters.
The vague stories are part of the fun! It's fun having to actually discover the story instead of it being spoonfed - and you're usually told enough to understand why you're doing what you're doing.
Missed immersive sims, point-and-click narrative adventure games, puzzle games, i also think you should have ranked action rpgs, crpgs and jrpgs separatively, would also say survival horror and walking simulator horror should be seen as different genres, but that is all nitpicking at this point, very good video.

7:14 that’s a big complaint of mine for rougelites/likes. Repetitive combat and content, grinding for the same materials over and over is super boring.
I only rank them A tier personally for giving us Binding of Isaac Rebirth(+all it's DLCs). Isaac alone carries Rogue Like/Lite genre. Rogue Legacy is alright but not same beast as Isaac and the rest are forgettable
Platformers, metroidvanias, open world type games, rpgs, mmorpgs, action adventure, party games are goated. Survival, kart racers, and strategy games are ok.
I love fighting games. Been playing Tekken for 7 years. But T8 is really giving me a headache. It's not just the horrid balance but so many nonsnese decisions and the crap community who just constantly runs away when losing. The game would be fantastic if the ranked system made more sense, cheaters got punished and the game got better balance. Right now it feels like playing a beta.

NAH NAH NAH, with literally every genre almost every game you talked about were AAA, AA, or games that are technically indie but due to crowd funding and/or a publisher they received a pretty decent budget, then you got to horror and half the shit you mentioned were mobile horror games made by like, one dude in some third world country in three weeks. Dead By Daylight? The Evil Within? Outlast? Cry of Fear? PT? F.E.A.R? Bioshock? Until Dawn? The Last of Us? Dying Light? Layers of Fear? Lethal Conpany? Dark Souls (dont debate me on dark souls, it literally is on the front page of the horror genre list on Steam)? Left 4 Dead 2? The Forest? Project Zomboid? Inscription? Horror games arent "average", it's just that more niche and low quality games become popular because they're funny. It's not a genre issue, it's an exposure issue. Horror has probably the biggest and strongest fanbase out of any media genre out there and for good reason. There are TONS of terrible platformers (literally almost any licensed video game), as well as in literally any other genre, people just dont talk about it as much as they do with horror because bad horror games are entertaining just from how outright silly they are, and terrible games in other genres aren't funny, they're just bad. Horror deserves a way higher ranking, A tier at the very least.
Oh, and also a bit of info (that is far less emotionally charged than my last comment lol), Steam has a policy where as long as a game isn't illegal or harmful, then they literally cannot take the game down or refuse it from being published there. As long as you pay the publishing fee and make something legal, you're good, which is why Sex With Hitler is allowed on there. Its a doublw edged sword, on one hand it gives indie devs freedom to make the games they want without worrying about discrimination or biased takedowns and whatnot. Where do racing games fall? Need for Speed, Forza, Gran Turismo, etc. Would you consider them under sports or simulation, or its own genre?
There's also sports non-simulation (or "EXTREME" games) which merge with the sports categories. literally games built to value fun over realism.

I think the genres are more intertwined than it feels at first , battle royal games can FPS or TPS , most of souls likes can be classified as RPGs , Open word games can be RPGs or Action adventure which can be both at the same time , most of the genres you used are broad , and let not forget Metroivenias
Resident Evil 2 and 4...... casual words. Horror is S tier. When a solid horror game is revealed, we take notice. Also disagree about souls likes. My least favorite part of then are vague stories. Its the metroidvania style exploration which isn't simple, is the main appeal. I really can't pair games like XIII and Doom and Half Life with Call of Duty and Battlefield. The campaign is just there. It's just competitive shooters.
The vague stories are part of the fun! It's fun having to actually discover the story instead of it being spoonfed - and you're usually told enough to understand why you're doing what you're doing.
Missed immersive sims, point-and-click narrative adventure games, puzzle games, i also think you should have ranked action rpgs, crpgs and jrpgs separatively, would also say survival horror and walking simulator horror should be seen as different genres, but that is all nitpicking at this point, very good video.
Immersive sims being left out is near gaming crime, it's the genre of THE Deus Ex Franchise, the one still being copied for it's brilliant gameplay.

7:14 that’s a big complaint of mine for rougelites/likes. Repetitive combat and content, grinding for the same materials over and over is super boring.
I only rank them A tier personally for giving us Binding of Isaac Rebirth(+all it's DLCs).
Isaac alone carries Rogue Like/Lite genre. Rogue Legacy is alright but not same beast as Isaac and the rest are forgettable
Platformers, metroidvanias, open world type games, rpgs, mmorpgs, action adventure, party games are goated.

I love fighting games. Been playing Tekken for 7 years. But T8 is really giving me a headache. It's not just the horrid balance but so many nonsnese decisions and the crap community who just constantly runs away when losing. The game would be fantastic if the ranked system made more sense, cheaters got punished and the game got better balance. Right now it feels like playing a beta.

NAH NAH NAH, with literally every genre almost every game you talked about were AAA, AA, or games that are technically indie but due to crowd funding and/or a publisher they received a pretty decent budget, then you got to horror and half the shit you mentioned were mobile horror games made by like, one dude in some third world country in three weeks. Dead By Daylight? The Evil Within? Outlast? Cry of Fear? PT? F.E.A.R? Bioshock? Until Dawn? The Last of Us? Dying Light? Layers of Fear? Lethal Conpany? Dark Souls (dont debate me on dark souls, it literally is on the front page of the horror genre list on Steam)? Left 4 Dead 2? The Forest? Project Zomboid? Inscription? Horror games arent "average", it's just that more niche and low quality games become popular because they're funny. It's not a genre issue, it's an exposure issue. Horror has probably the biggest and strongest fanbase out of any media genre out there and for good reason. There are TONS of terrible platformers (literally almost any licensed video game), as well as in literally any other genre, people just dont talk about it as much as they do with horror because bad horror games are entertaining just from how outright silly they are, and terrible games in other genres aren't funny, they're just bad. Horror deserves a way higher ranking, A tier at the very least.
Oh, and also a bit of info (that is far less emotionally charged than my last comment lol), Steam has a policy where as long as a game isn't illegal or harmful, then they literally cannot take the game down or refuse it from being published there. As long as you pay the publishing fee and make something legal, you're good, which is why Sex With Hitler is allowed on there. Its a doublw edged sword, on one hand it gives indie devs freedom to make the games they want without worrying about discrimination or biased takedowns and whatnot. On the other hand, there's lots of porn on there now.

Dead by Daylight? You mean Dead bt MIDlight? Even it's player base critiques DBD for devs mistreating the game. Also it's barely a horror game after the meta shifted from hiding from killers to rush gens and loop killers meta.(Also no I'm not talking about survivor mains complaining other people also critique DBD)

Dark Souls is NOT a horror game, you realise how bad steam tags are? They consider a BORDERLANDS franchise as an RPG franchise, like wtf?!? What elements from ROLEPLAYING games does it have? Skill trees don't count especially since they don't even work same as in old RPG games.

Look I agree that Horror genre can be goated at times but I don't see it above B tier. How much influence in gaming industry it even haf outside of Amnesia? The most recent influence from horroe genre was also extremely bad one, from FNAF games that ruined indie horror games turning them into boring vague aah lore mascot games.

Great video but the biggest gripe I have is ranking sports games so low. The Mario sports catalogue, NCAA 14, Rocket League, the Skate Series, the Tony Hawk Pro Skater/Underground, Jet Set radio, Mirror’s Edge, SSX, Wii Sports, NBA/NFL STREET, the Backyard Sports Series, Blitz: The League, & even PONG can’t be dragged down so low because Madden/2k suck
