😍 Color grade S-Cinetone FAST with my presets: whoismatt.com/luts
Super informative vid! However, concerning your referenced presets (WhoIsMatt Luts) for this S-Cinetone profile; after reading the description it states "Works with Standard & LOG Footage." Could you share with me if this is for S-Cinetone as well, because it doesn't mention this profile? Thanks!
@@LennyandSandi Same information I'm looking for. I bought these LUTs and just noticed there is no LUT for filming in S-Cinetone (profile 11). Matt, can you help here? Thank you!
Me too i wanna know
The redirection takes me to a lut package for log formats, pence find one for cinetone, you have that lut available, I am not interested in the slog I use fx3 to document my children and I will use s-cinetone to not colour more in the future

This my friend is one of the best videos I have seen on the subject. So simple and so well done. Thank you! Keep on rocking. Cheers from Norway 🇳🇴
You're such a good teacher! Thank you, Matt!! Needed this as my clients often ask for the raw footage.
Great job Matt. Thanks for the video
WOW!! What an awesome video and SO well explained. I ordered the a7Siii and still waiting patiently 6 weeks later (chip shortage) but in the meantime dude you are helping me big-time with your great videos!! Many thanks Matt 🇨🇦
Thankyou Matt, lovely video, calm and professional tone of voice with no barking loud. 🤓👌
So much clarity in your teaching. Thanks!☺
Thanks Matt. I have been subscribed and watching your videos for a minute. I find them very informative and easy to follow and understand. I just purchased your complete LUTs package, as well as the discounted master class package. Got everything installed and set up, and now ready to see what becomes of it. I feel it was money well spent and if I still have that reaction after using them, I will add a T-shirt to my WHOISMATT Collection!!!
This was extremely helpful! Thanks again Matt🙏🏿🙌🏿!
S Cinetone actually doesn’t clip until 109 (it’s in the Sony help guide). Setting your zebras to 100 is just going to waste dynamic range as you can recover your whites in post if you set zebras to 109. Alternatively, you can create a manual knee in the picture profile that brings your white point down to 100. I’m really shocked at the amount of RUclips teachers who don’t know this. I didn’t find a single person who understood this information that Sony gives us for free. Also, slog3 clips at 94, so setting zebras to 100+ will make you think you are never overexposed.
Can you send me the link to the help guide? Thank you.
If you create a manual knee in the picture profile that brings your white point down to 100, should we set the zebras to 100+ in that case?? Thank you so much
Do you know of any way to make the camera monitor show me the image with a white point of 100, while retaining the post superwhites to bring down in post?
I keep getting my footage back overexposed by a little bit, compared to how I saw it while shooting.
Just what I was looking for ❤️
This was really helpful. I am new to the Sony world and this video was great. Thanks
Thank you so much! I’m gonna try out these meter and ISO settings tonight. Blessings!!
Watched hundreds of videos! This is definitely the best 👌
Thanks a lot Matt, that’s very VERY helpful and simply explained - u got a new sub.
Cheers
Love your instructional videos, thanks Matt. I am going to try S-Cinetone for my video project tomorrow
👍💪
You sir are a great teacher.
Great video just been binging all your fx30 videos mine arrives Tuesday 😊
Good morning, the wedding you filmed in Colorado, I wanted to tell you, is the best wedding I've seen on film, well done, hope you're all well!!

Fantastic! Thank you!!!
Great explanation. Thank you.
Thank you for a very informative vid.
Great video. Thank you.
Your video is so adapted to my skills! Thanks so much. I have a ZV-E1.
I really want to thank you for this video, just subbed and hit the like. Appreciate it now my A7iv is workin' better for me and my YT videos will look better
thank you bro!
Thank you Matt
Recently got a Sony A7IV and im happy to say there is PP11! Im going to try this out today and compare to S-log3. Thanks for this video Matt!
Getting mine tomorrow, super excited. I love the look of S-Cinetone..
Great information. Thank you. I set these in 6700
Thank you!
Thanks! Others have been suggesting zebras at 109+ which makes no sense. I'm loving S-cinetone for livestreaming on my A1.
Nice stuff-- thanks man!
Thanks Lucas!
Hey Matt, I tried the Preset on my FX3 and it wouldn't load. Also on the PDF you should add, save camera settings preset 1st because the folders path are not on the memory card until you do so.
Thanks matt
Thank you very much
Matt is king!!
Hahaha thank you
great video. Super colors and focus. To the couple in the video-get a room!
Great video.
Thanks Eric!
I really like the Profilie Color Sony's S-Cinetone
Helpful tip for exposure: by default “spot metering point” is set to “center”.
Changing it to “focus point link” like you showed, meters the exposure of what’s in focus.
Perhaps still not entirely accurate, but a lot better than it’s default option “center”.
Multi metering is default on most cameras, focus point link sounds interesting though! Does it work with focus tracking?
Another more old-school way to set your exposure is to use your camera like a handheld light meter. In your wide shot of people kissing, get two feet away from them, use manual ISO and exposure. Set the correct exposure as they fill the frame. The, when you pull the camera back for the wide shot, their faces will be properly exposed. Maybe the sky. blows out a bit, but it's the faces you want to be properly exposed.
Hi Matt, this is Bill Steele with Steele Visual Productions in Phoenix, AZ. Another very easy and fast method for determining dual native ISOs is to take the minimum available ISO in the picture Profile (base native ISO), multiply it x2 and then simply add a zero (0). Hopefully this helps. Thank you for the great tutorials and good information. All the best!
Thanks Bill! Good tip!
So the dual native ISO for Slog3 is 640 x 2 = 1280 + 0 added = 12.800 ??? Officially A7IV does not have native ISO. But it appears that at ISO 3200 the second step kicks in, and you’ll see less noise…
It doesn’t work this way for the Sony A1. PP11 base is ISO 125. Second native ISO is 640, not 2500. I sure wish it was though.
Hey Matt, wonderful video as always. Can you make a video that compares pictures profiles between sony and panasonic cameras. I know that you used to shoot with a GH5.
I've been looking for a pp where I don't have to overexpose, ty so much!
👍👍
Everyone ask whoismatt no one ask how is Matt!
😂😂 I’m good
best video so far seen.. heads down.. can you please make a video on how to setup davinci (from scratch with project setting till rendering) for both s-cinetone and slog
Спасибо!😊
Guys if you own a Sony A7iii you can create the s cinetone look with some changes to your picture profile, theres a few vids on you tube that gives you the settings that will match the a7siii cinetone look
AS far as S Cinetone with the FX -30, any info regarding the proper ISO would be much appreciated!
Hi Matt great video how far have you pushed iso in s-cinetone ? i have wet up to 5000 with sony 28-105 f4 lens and it looked fine to me
Danke!
Thank you so much sir. I love your videos :-)
hey Matt thanks for all you do. Any chance for an update for S-Cinetone for the FX30?!
Hi Matt, do you have any color grading tutorial for ZV E10?
thanks for sharing Great information ,, one thing i would like to ask that is it good to shoot at low light in night with cine tone...
Matt you are a legend. Can I ask the best ISOs for S Cinetone on the FX30? Thanks mate
God bless you
Love your channel Matt, thanks for making the LUTs but your link isn't clear that the LUTS are for S-Cinetone, am I missing something? Don't want to drop money on the wrong LUTS, please advise
Hey! Yes they will work with s-cinetone :)
went to your site and didn't see LUTS for s-cinetone, link please?
Hi Matt, I'm about to start with vídeo on my a7iii for the first time and your vídeo is very helpful. I found another video showing how to emulate S-cinetone on the a7iii and I will try it, but I have a few questions, if you don't mind... What is the difference between setting the zebras to 100+ or 60%+2 (for skin light tones for instance). Also, any idea why on the a7iii with this PP, the mn ISO is 200?
take a drink every time he says PP11 😎
Matt, some folks have suggested turning down the level in the detail to -7 to essentially remove a lot of the sharpness. Would you agree with that hypothesis? Thank you
Just to be clear, when using a Whoismatt LUTS, you will want to choose “Standard” correct?
I recommend S-cinetone with Whoismatt lut 6 standard. Looks fantastic.
Yup, for S-Cinetone you'll want to use the Standard version of the LUTs :)
Hey Matt, How about the new Sony A7 IV ? Does it have dual Iso ?
Holy crap! I just asked about this haha
Haha perfect timing!
hey Matt very informative as usual
one question though the lcd screen on the a7s3 looks way warmer than the
evf
do i trust the evf or the lcd for white balance ?
thank you
I would compare footage you copy to your computer to the footage on your lcd and evf and see which one looks more accurate
I’m confused. Is this only the gamma profile or the colour profile too? And should you mix and patch the colour profile with a different gamma profile or should both be the same?
🐐
Thanks for this video.
So you don't change anything in pp11 settings?
Now I want a fx3. I always thought that bmpcc 6K pro would be my next choice. :-) But as a one man shooter Sony offers a lot.:-)
Thanks for your awsome Videos, Matt:-)
Glad to help!
Did you get the FX3 or the Bmpcc6k pro..I have an a7iii and looking to upgrade as am doing more video work and the Bmpcc6k I have been told has the most amazing cinematic picture quality, and its also records raw files
@@Panther- Still thinking about. But when you have Sony Lenses and you want Autofocus. Then Upgrade to fx3. 😉
Thank you Matt! Very informative. What is 100+ exposure? Does that mean S Cinetone can go over 100 without blowing out highlights?
Great question…hope to here back.
I believe he’s referring to Zebra settings, it has to be +100 to prevent over exposure in SCinetone.
@@tecnolatino5552 Thank you! I learned that S Cinetone overexposes at 109.
How do your s-cinetone LUTS look on the a7iv? I’ve had my a7iv for a week now and I love it!
They look great! The a7iv has essentially the same colors as the a7siii and fx3
Hi, thanks to share your interesting video. I'd like to ask a question please: I make only documentaries in 4K around the world, I don't take Pics. I take interest about a good image quality of the video. I only shoot handheld footage and never use the tripod, does it have a good stabilizer? Do you suggest this Sony A7 IV camera for 4K videos? Thanks you.
What LUT was used for the s cinetone in the video???
4:59 vs 5:08 honestly those images look extremely similar, and the major difference I see is slightly different sky saturation, slightly different white balance / warmth in graded image. Nothing is clipped in either image
Nice! The thing I'm curious about is how well the a7siii holds up when you shoot in s-log but set the gamma to s-cinetone. Any thoughts on that one?
Watch my previous video from last week 😉
@@whoismatt Aha thanks Matt!
Am a simple guy i see your smile i give a like 👍
can you use cinetone 11 for pictures as well
Would it not be better to set your zebras to 41 when shooting in slog-3, so you can expose the midtones correctly?
Is a cinetone for stills as well
Hi Matt what Len were you using to shot this video look so sharp?
Hi Matt, is the FX3 S-Cinetone Base ISO still 100 and 2.000 in 2024 after the latest firmware updates?
Hi Matt... Do you know the Native ISO values for S-Cinetone for the Sony A7RV? Thanks!
Friend, in which part of Sony's website do I see the ISO settings suitable for all color profiles?
Hi,
If i want to expose my skin tones perfectly, which zebra to use with s-cinetone ? 65+ ?
Thanks
Thanks for the video
Can i record s-cinetone videos on zv-E1 without a cinebar?
Because if i choose s-cinetone mode bar appears ?
any change do you know if would pe possible to create similar cine tone colors on a fs7??
Does this work for the a6400??
Does s cinetone have native iso like slog?
In essence, when shooting in S-Cinetone, make sure to expose skin tones correctly and to watch out for any clipping in your images. In addition, make sure to white balance correctly when changing the shooting environment. And choose the best ISO for your particular camera.
These are all traditional shooting techniques with the exception of when to know to change the "base iso" either to high or low.
In the past you tried to avoid going into high ISO at all costs.
These days, if you have too much light, make sure to switch to the lower base ISO. If not enough light, switch gears and change to high base ISO.
Hey love the content !
I primarily use S Cinetone at 2000 iso MM reads 0.0 or higher all of the time and i'm getting a lot of noise still. Any advice :)
On the a7siii
Your ISO setting is too high. Try lowering your ISO setting and I bet that fixes your problem.
what native iso in a6600 in s-log3 and hlg profile? 500?
Hello Matt, Thanks for this great video. I'm on the sony a74. Is there a way to have the s cinetone in video mode and when i switch to photo mode to cancel it? When i activate the pp11 on my camera it still there in photo mode...Thanks for your help
Yes there’s a place in the setting where you can separate video and photo settings..
And with the emulator for a7iii?
My a7iv colors look incredly orange. Its upsetting! Don't know how to fix it. I've tried to change my white balance to no avail.
