I think due to your popularity, if the airlines learn that you're starting to review your experiences on their products, they'll probably start comping or seriously discounting upgrades to business and first class. Probably the same for cruise ships. You've laid a serious foundation on RUclips and it will serve you well. I mean, on your inaugural first class trip you got recognized. Wow.

We are a retired couple that has only flown in the cheap seats. Recently I decided that lets try first class for once. Much to my surprise, the fare was three times higher, like the flight cost $1,500.00 each round trip domestic fight . My high hopes were shot down. We are staying home . Maybe next year.

I got to upgrade to first class once. It was so amazing. It was a short two hour flight. So it was short and sweet. Amazed that I got china and real silver. My last flight to Thailand was brutal. 24 hrs in coach. Thought I was going to die or at least need knee surgery since the seats had no leg room and the man in front of me weighed 400 lbs so he was crushing my knees before he even reclined.

Because of my wife’s health the only way we fly international is first class using air miles but the level of first class across the airlines we use has really gone down hill in the past 20 years. Your enthusiasm and being impressed was a fun reminder of the first time we flew first class. I stayed awake all the way to London on a red eye and drank espressos all night long because how could I not when they kept offering them to me! The best part of first class remains arriving semi-fresh and rested.

I very much remember getting upgraded to First Class because thye airline had extra seats, and I had flown that trip so much. It was very nice but no way could I justify the cost now. Only would use miles, and even then if I didnt need them for everything. (If I remember correctly ONE trip to Japan gave me the equivqlent of a free coast to coast in USA. Hope you didint get too spoiled but had a great time.

I don’t go unless I can at least fly Premium Economy…the regular economy is just too uncomfortable for long haul anymore (they squeeze too many seats into the cabin and you can barely recline). Rooky mistake not sleeping when you have lie flat, but understandable on this first experience.

Somewhat ironically, domestic first class tends to be less luxurious than international business class. Airlines that do have a true First Class international cabin tend to offer larger spaces such as small rooms with doors, beds that can be joined together with a travel companion, showers, and in a few specific instances multi-room suites. I've never flown any of the international first class cabins, but was lucky enough to get upgraded to business class once from Denver to Frankfurt... lay flat seats are amazing on an overnight flight. Having said that, this is getting it really wrong, and I don't really know how much you can not be aware of at least what other RUclipsrs are doing (maybe they never watch others?) which would show this pretty clearly. On the other hand, it is completely odd that these US based airlines get away with talking about base level economy being business class, and this kind of business class being framed as First Class. I guess it shows that they just make up their own rules, and clearly from the comments from US folks, they buy it. I wouldn't mind if the cost wasn't outrageously more than you'd expect to pay for similar (especially for BC fares that are basically economy with a bit of extra leg room).

Also I'm not sure that RUclipsrs who travel for a living have 'credibility'. It can be entertaining, but I doubt it's providing advice for how to travel or live your life.

Definitely not worth it if you have to pay full fare, but if you compare it to Economy, then yes, anything seems wonderful

Many people gets confused with different airlines class of service. In US domestic market, there is economy, premium economy, and first class. But in reality is that domestic first class really should be called business class but in US, they like to label it first class as that sounds better. With international flights, there is first, business, premium economy, and then economy class. US airlines only have business, premium economy, and economy. They used to have first class but they eliminated them as they realized that most people are willing to pay cash for business class but not first class. Currently only AA has international first class but they are eliminating that very soon. The seats you were on are United Polaris business class seats. They are comfortable but definitely not the best business class seats out there. There are other better business class seats products with middle eastern and Asian airlines. Some like Qatar airways’ business class seats are almost as good as a lot of first class seats out there. With that said, even within Qatar airways, they have different types of business class seats. Currently the best ones are called QSuites. If you compare that product with United’s Polaris seats, you will find the former one much better. With that said, United Polaris is a very comfortable way to fly and congrats on trying Polaris out for the first time. If you paid with points, you probably used a lot of points for your seats. You will want to plan much more in advance if you want to use less points for your seats. If you want to try Lufthansa first class where they service you caviar and seats are wider, your best chance is to book within two weeks on United.com. The number of points you use will be very similar to the number of points you used for tickets in this video. Thus you are better off flying Lufthansa in first class across Atlantic than flying United Polaris. Miles/ points game can be a bit complicated but once you have a good grasp of it, it can make long international flights in business or first class affordable.

In the humble opinion of this traveler there is no American airline that does business/first class right, and don’t start me on their lounges. Its just way overpriced for what you get. Give me Qatar any day of the week. 😊❤

Ya, it's sounding like we need to give first class another go with a better airline (with an actual first class...not just premium business like ours apparently was, oops! 😅)

Polaris is considered a "business class" option on United Airlines, offering a premium experience on long-haul international flights, essentially acting as their top-tier business class rather than a separate first class cabin on those routes.
