@flowstatedivers they also taught single hand communication, primarily air pressure. On my 20-something dive, I dove with all new buddies who were trained on something else. It wasn't until the DM asked me my psi and gave me a strange look that I found out there's, "other systems." We got to the surface and he told me, "I have no idea what those hands signals meant, but you had a Perdix II and were super squared away so I assumed as long as you were looking at it and giving me alien signals you knew you were good". I asked him, wtf kind of hands comm's they used for numbers and he showed me some confusing number of fingers on the forearm thing that made no sense. Lol
Thanks Remco ! Some of the 3 letter agencies (except SSI) having this and other essential propulsion techniques in their basic course structure tho :) Regardless, all self conscious divers should be using the basic 4
@@K3T1 That is correct, I don’t tech the flutter kick. Nobody is GIVEN anything if they choose to take a class with me, and 90% of the divers I am teaching are planning to go on to become cave divers. The frog kick is simple to learn if it is taught properly. And having taught around 4-500 open water divers in my time as an instructor, I have only failed a handful. It’s usually more than just the frog kick that will fail them.
Very informative video! Would be great to see the techique of turning around as well. not sure how that is called but I see some divers doing it pretty well with ease
Yet an anazing video guys !! I must admit that I was using the frog kick (my version) but I know how it should be done now. Definitely getting in some practice based on this... how do you setup that line and what are you using for the vertical ones ?
The buoyancy characteristics of your fins have to be aligned with your physical attributes, it has nothing to do with propulsion techniques. Fin is just an aid, technique is key.
As both freediver and scuba diver I tried to learn frog kick for efficiency, But cant handle the way how inelegantly the kick looks 🤣 So I go back to freediver style flutter kicks. Ended up Only use frog kick in tight space wrecks and caves.
@@flowstatedivers Oh! That was my first thought... But went ahead to check them out and they looked a bit different in the catalogs. Anyway, thank you for the heads up! Keep it up with the awesome work! ;-)
Slower than what ? If you are wondering about how this compares to the flutter kick, I recommend you watch the video we made of that and you will understand the clean purpose of both of these propulsion techniques.
I’m trying my best to do a frog kick and I’m doing kinda well even my last instructor told me that but I get very tired. Am I doing something wrong? He told me that I need to get used to. But for me is very hard, physically speaking. I see every DM etc doing a frog kick because you sucks less air, you have a better trim etc and it’s true but why i am so exhausted after a while? :(
Hey, thanks for reaching out. This can be for a number of reasons.. one of the most common mistakes is dropping the knees or doing it flat' footed. Get your buddy to record you trying the frog kick during your next session and send the footage over to us to (info@flowstatedivers.com). We will review what you currently do and suggest you how to fix it, based on what we see.
@@flowstatedivers thank you so much guys 🥺 💖 much support and thanks for the amazing video and learning stuff you put out. Would you mind talking about dry suit in the future? Never had the opportunity to try it before cuz were I was was kinda warm all year but not this winter I’ll have the dive. Will do a certification dry suit alredy checked many video but as you know trick and tips is always appreciated 🙏

Thanks again fantastic videos. Very detailed. I would love to see a video on tech gear set up particularly how to store reels for cave diving
My OW instructors were Tech divers, so they tought us the frog kick. At the time, I thought this was the norm, until i dove with strangers! Lol
Lucky you ! We believe that this should be in every standard open water level curriculum.

@@YZFoFittieWhat makes somebody a Tech diver, versus otherwise? I have not learned that yet, only heard the term.
@@ttb1513 "Technical divers" are anyone who is taught decompression procedures. That's the simplest explanation.
@@YZFoFittieThanks.
very well explained, great video 👌 nice voice of the narrator
Thank you!
Love it 😍. Shame this kick is not considered a mandatory skill from the beginning.

I’m an instructor, you won’t pass my OW class without knowing this kick
@@cavediver2579lol I call bs. You won’t give an OW certification because someone can do a frog kick?

This is a great video, I will try frog kick with no fins.
That SANTI suit is fire!

This is just amazing 😍

It’s called a helicopter turn, one leg does a frog kick, the other one is doing a backwards combined it will turn you on the spot 😊
You got it :) ruclips.net/video/C0vtYm0n8EE/видео.html

Does frog kick require positively buoyant fins or it doesn't matter, you should hold the starting position from your knees?
The buoyancy characteristics of your fins have to be aligned with your physical attributes, it has nothing to do with propulsion techniques. Fin is just an aid, technique is key.
I 'm confused this frog kick. Thanks
Current it's a killer for me 😅 can't move anywhere without standard finning, need more practice 😅
Do we only get the feet together or do we get both kness and feet together at the end?
Both knees and feet
What dry suit is this? I've been trying to find quality suits offered in neutral gray type colors...
We use SANTI drysuits, this model was a limited edition called the Grey Wolf model e.motion. Great quality gear
@@flowstatedivers very cool, thanks!
This takes more kicks to cover a distance than a flutter kick. Is this different than a breast stroke kick?
Hi, It isn't taking more, but it's preserving way more energy. Check out our flutter kick video so you can compare.
