Lots of scuba diving videoes are talk and talk... blah blah. You're the only one i came accross that have actually show us how to do it under water, and in a way so professional and elegant, thank you so much!
Thanks very much! Regarding the diver's buoyancy, it's just being correctly weighted, trimmed out and being able to control your depth changes with your lungs :) we have a video upcoming which will go into details on that topic so stay tuned 😉

Thanks for the video and really breaking it down. The first time I did this I didn’t clear my mask all the way and upon my first breath i got water up my nose. My problem is my brain seems to have trouble breathing only through my mouth. A minute amount of inhalation still took place through my nose. Regardless I was able to complete this on subsequent tries in open water however it requires consciously focusing on mouth breathing only and staying calm in darkness as I am a contact lense wearer which makes this skill even more difficult. I am happy you say that this should be practiced regularly as I felt that there was something wrong with me. It’s good to know the real solution is just doing it more often.
He deserves much more than that. All new OWD in the world deserve having this as their educational material instead of what such like PADI or SSI are offering.
Never really thought about carrying a backup mask but it makes total sense. I don't have this kind of a suit with the pockets so where's the best to carry one ?
If you are wearing a wetsuit that has no pockets, you can purchase shorts that you can wear over your suit. Many well known brands are offering these however, we recommend you to choose the one that has bungees sewn right into the inner part of the pocket so you can clip on your DSMB and backup mask when storing it.
Just practiced this in salt water (previously had only done in fresh). Had fears about how salt water burns the eyes, but I got used to super quickly and it really didn't hurt the eyes after the first try. Talk about the reflex :D I cannot stop it even being fully aware that its coming and staying calm and breathing normal - that breath hold kicks in automatically. The biggest problem after that are the bubbles hitting my eyes and forcing them to close. How do you recommend dealing with it? Do you breath at an angle to let them pass your eyes or just suck it up and deal with it, just like with the salt water?
Hi there! I have a small problem. I release a small amount of air during exhale through my nose. It fogs up the mask and also the small escaping bubbles channel in a bit of water. Do you have a good solution for this? Any way to practice not blowing from the nose? Thank you soo mich, love your videos!
@skeleton022-2 There is no problem with flooding your mask, it's part of the game. In fact it's better if you get used to it as you can utilise water in your mask to defog it while diving. Look at any other of our videos, our masks are 1/3 filled all the time.
@skeleton022-2 just for clarity, when you trap some water in your mask, you can tilt your head forward and that will clear the fogging in all situations.
@@flowstatedivers I got used to it by now, but I was wondering if there is a solution as to not blow out air from my nose as it fogs up the mask like every 5 minutes. I can clear it and Im doing it, but when I see scuba videos on youtube there is little to no fog on their masks.
@skeleton022-2 your mask should not be fogging normally, and its unrelated to what you describing. Make sure you defog it properly, either by burning it out or applying one of the many solutions overnight, and it should be alright. The other major contributing factor is that divers don't cool their face down prior to the dive. Before you descend, temporarily remove your mask and cool your face by dipping in to the water a couple of times so the temperature difference will be equalised.
@@jean-philippebelisle2552 Same! It's not comfortable by no means, but definitely doable/bearable, especially if you have a specific purpose in mind, not just swimming around for fun and if the dive is on the short side, like 20-30 min- totally OK. My core temp dropped by quite a bit, I could not feel warm for the rest of the day, evening and night.

The best is to get used to this! Otherwise, just look down while not wearing a mask, this will allow the bubbles to travel just below your eyes.

do the same but in cold water, let's say standard 2 celcius as it's in Europe during witner. Don't forget your drygloves 😎
Depends for each person, I did my deep certification at 102ft in a wetsuit 14mm 😉
