They all lecture about using your breathing control to maintain buoyancy. Yours is the first to truly explain the mechanics behind the breathing to maintain neutral buoyancy. Thank You!!

    Thank you for these videos, they are absolutely fantastic. I started sharing them with my students.
    One minor suggestion, in this video you talk about the 3 fundamental pillars of scuba diving without listing them. I would also argue that there are 4 pillars: breathing, buoyancy, propulsion (finning) and trim. Which one are your 3?

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  10 месяцев назад +2

      We greatly appreciate your kind words! In our video, we emphasize the strong connection between breathing (/correct weighting) and buoyancy. Love this channel and your format. One thing you left out of the audio descriptions / narration in the video is the importance of body position and finning in terms of how they also affect buoyancy.
    People can clearly see that finning techniques, and angling of the body have a genuine impact on positioning and buoyancy, but it is worth calling out.

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  16 дней назад

      Thank you for your input. We left it out on purpose. While finning and trim are major parts of being solid in the water (which we discuss in great detail in other videos), they do not contribute directly to buoyancy. However, correct breathing and weighting do. You can maintain perfect buoyancy in any body position while stationary, even though we absolutely encourage correct trim and propulsion. Check out the related videos if you haven't done so.

    I agree totally with the amazing explanations of diving technics. Subscribed after watching just a few minutes. Don’t publish too much, simply see that you can maintain high quality and educational value, as it takes a lot of work to make such videos. One idea I got after watching this particular video, is an episode about the use of drysuits while diving. Most videos goes about materials, seals, etc but don’t say anything about the proper technique with drysuits during our dives. That’s something I would like to know more about, since I live in Northern Europe and diving with a wetsuit is limited to one quarter of the year because of the water temperature. Many thanks!

    "If they carry too much weight they forfeit the ability to use their lung capacity for depth control"
    This sums up my biggest issue in my first 9 months or so of diving. Overweighted, so even though I was trying to use lungs it just didn't work and then I had to use my BC and I also tended to get massive headaches from skip-breathing in my attempt to not use my BC so much.

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  10 месяцев назад

      Completely understandable, regrettably, instructors often overlook the significance of initially imparting proper weighting techniques. Many times, they themselves struggle with excess weight. @@flowstatediversnothing wrong if people want to play doing the Buddha position, but that's as far as it should go, nothing more than play. I agree with you, it serves absolutely no purpose in teaching divers to dive better, and can be detrimental by giving them a false sense of security with poor techniques.

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  10 месяцев назад

      @@MegaEpicLlama Playing with it is fine as with anything else. The issue starts with some' agencies fully accepting their instructor candidates to demonstrate the 'hover' for a minute in that position simply because they can't be still in trim. Now, that's a different story.

      @@flowstatedivers It went well and it also help my air consumption. The biggest improvement is while the ascent, with that technic(and proper weigth) I'm now abble to stay in perfect trim all the ascent and safety stop. Thanks!!!

    Amazing content! I’m just trying to figure out what bcd to buy to upgrade my mates dragon, and I’m kinda lost.
    All the sites just name generic known brand but I see modular systems that look awesome but I can’t figure them out.
    Would love some explaining on those and like some good brand, key aspects to look for and maybe a few recommendation for a wanna be son tek diver 😅

      Hey, we will certainly be producing gear-related content in the near future, which will serve as an excellent starting point for divers like yourself. In general, our focus for backmount diving revolves around backplate + wing setups. There is a wealth of information to share on this subject, so if you're not in a hurry, your best option would be to await the release of these videos.

    What about adding air to compensate for your wetsuits loss of buoyancy?

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  10 месяцев назад

      Certain situations, like when using 7mm semi-dry neoprene wetsuits beyond specific depths, may present unique considerations. However, in general, as long as a diver is appropriately weighted, the effect of wetsuit compression should be minimal to none. The main issue arises when divers add excessive weight due to a belief that they cannot initially descend with the correct amount of weight. We plan to delve deeper into this topic in our upcoming video on correct diver's weighting.
