I just bought the game and your videos help a lot because I've taken a long time trying to find the quickest different ways and hotkeys to build at a faster rate. You really helped simplify it here.
Although I bought the game some time ago, I’ve never played it because it looked much too complicated for an absolute beginner. But now I’ve discovered your ‘how to’ series and they challenge me to give it a try myself, everything looks so nice & easy .... Think I will meet some problems learning the incremental way, but with your help I might be succesful some time. I am impressed by your didactical skills, you could be a great teacher !!! Keep up the good work !! Immediately gave it a like & subscribed to your series. Such good work should be rewarded !!! A la bon heure !!! My grandmère used to say.
Very Helpful! I've noticed while watching these videos that occasionally ill run into something that you show to be "broken" but has since been fixed! In this video specifically, you can now duplicate a selection of scenery or objects, rather than having to make a building. (fence thing with the post that's underground to make a building) Anyways, just got the game and this will really help me to make some cool looking stuff for my parks! :) thanks!
This is awesome having just bought the game I am gonna try and follow along with this later to help me grasp the basic of building from scratch. Loving these
great videos, enjoy watching them a lot! small suggestion if you have edit time left: add some text overlay when you are explaining the keys for example. Would help newer players easier understand what to press in sequence and why :) The explanations are perfectly fine, but sometimes a bit fast maybe? Keep it up!
Question: IF you are making a "dark ride"--would you build the ride and track first then build the enclosure/building around it, or build the building first and then do the ride within?
Good question! Probably a mix of both honestly... start with the track but the place wall pieces as you go incase you need any major changes to the track to fit in wall corners etc :)
Another great tutorial, if I had known that rotating walls stops floors from clipping before this I think I might have saved a few hours from having to remake buildings!
Thanks for all your efforts, I had played RCT for years and when I got this game I didn't know where to begin. Your videos are really informative. Do you know if there is a keyboard sheet somewhere I could print have looked around but no luck yet. Please try no to digress some of us get lost easily especially me.. :-)
Is there a way to create longer lines for the food? They generally form like one tile bulk for me and just say wait is too long and I end up building too many extra food services
Hey, thanks for those tutorial, I bought the game some days ago and you are very clear and I enjoyed your video! :) I haven't checked yet, but have you done a video explaining what can and can't be found in the steam workshop? and must-have of those items/addons or something? thanks again, and will have a look at the video you already uploaded! :D I also have another question: I have the impression you can't color all of the pieces (for example steel roof is always blue) is there a way to overcome this limitation?
Can someone please help me with the multi selection holding ctrl button? I've tried it when I have an active building grid and even without it but it never works. The only way is using the 2nd selection option and choose elements one by one. I know that it is the same but i must always switch the default selection mode and it is a bit useless... Maybe I need to change something in the general settings? Or maybe there is a shortcut to choose between the different selection options?
Thanks for putting focus on what I want to call practical building as opposed to popular building which I have seen a lot. The advantage of this is that it doesnt affect the framerate much. It is funny to see master populists create lamp posts consisting of hundreds of objects. How can you build a park with that? Quad gtx 1080 sli?
I completely agree... I LOVE watching people like Silvaret, Lady De Signer, Uthris etc... there builds are amazing and detailed, but they would make my computer crawl! and it isn't that badly specced either. So I try to make stuff that people can replicate and use in their own parks :)
Thank you so much - some of the stuff in this video, ESPECIALLY about the grid size (I never used it for some reason!) will help me create better and more complex buildings. Do you look at buildings for reference? I remember spending like 30 minutes trying to add a roof onto a real small building only to find I have no idea how the roof would look, and the variety of [roof] pieces didn't help either. I guess I'm just architecturally challenged - ah well!
Thanks :) I do use a lot of reference images, even from google or just photos I take around town. In my build seires, the 'Playhouse Theatre' is a recreation of a building in my cities centre :) As for roofs, they are a little limited by there 4m grid sizes, If you watch my 'lets build' coming out later today, you'll see the troubles I had trying to make a Mansard roof!
Thank you so very much for your great tutorial videos! I've started creating stuff myself a couple of days ago and had a bunch of problems. With the strategies you introduce, building is much more fun. Now, a bit off-topic, but: How do you go about designing your park layout-wise? I usually get started on something and immediately dislike the design. I would love to do themed areas, but I am usually having a hard time with that as well. Are there any tips you could share as to how you usually start designing your parks?
Thanks :) Glad you are finding it useful :) As for park layout, it's something I'm working on doing a video for, but personally I kind of just go for it... One think I have noticed about most real theme parks is that they are all circular and there is never a dead end... something I try and replicate in my parks :)
I’m really hoping the Planet Zoo building mode will be a bit easier. I’m terrible when it comes to key shortcuts, I don’t even use the copy paste shortcuts.
I think you should do more building tutorials like this one... i tend to follow step by step instructions on a building rather than make things up as i go... never turns out well if im not following steps
Much more talented than me. That being said, does anyone else find themselves clicking their mouse wheel trying to rotate while watching the video? hahah
Great & informative thanks! I just found your Channel & tried The extra key technique to try to centre things I was stocking and it didn't work. I'm wondering if something changed during one of the updates since you posted this. Is there another way to ensure pieces get centered?
I was actually referring to your demonstration with the fountain in the video. When you press X you get the more detailed editing tool. However when I go to choose something to snack on top of the fountain base the detailed editing tool disappears. Do I have to press and hold X?
Not sure if you've already figured this out... but I think what you have to do is first use ctrl+x to 'duplicate' the item in the exact same location, then select another item to put on top of it, then move it up again.
The music just fades into the background, it's still there, just quiet :) I'm actually having a proper 'geekism' into done at the moment, which should be on the videos soon :)
Hey great job on tutorials, I subscribed...Only thing i dont get about these vids, how do you know what the buildings are supposed to look like? Are you drawing them up using a picture or what?
Geekism Ehm .. ok. I know u from another channel. Basically my question's just why u stopped making GameMaker Tutorials? :) They was really helpful, advanced and nice. Did u stop coding?
Unfortunately yes, I just don't have the time to code along side university and work, Which is why I've been putting more effort into this channel, as it's a little easier to produce the content. I'm hoping to return to Making Games 101 when I have a little more free time :)
Geekism Okay, nice to hear! Yeah I understand this, but I'm also sure that lots of people would love it (me 2)!! Making Games 101 is great, ur great. I'm looking forward to it! ;D Have a nice day and sorry for english mistakes, I'm German haha. Btw i've added u on Twitter and Steam :)
the only thing that has ruined this game for me is the controls. I've never had to watch so many tutorials just to be able to remotely play a game before. The 'X' button doesn't work on my version of the game so I can't rotate anything or create any good designs and even more annoyingly is the 'Z' button stops working properly while I'm building! Getting so frustrated with it and giving myself headaches. If it wasn't for these tutorials I would have gotten my money back as soon as I started playing.
These are so helpful. I was struggling with building anything more than a basic building. These are the tutorials that should have come with the game!
Glad you've found them useful! Thanks for watching :)
Your tutorials are delightful. Thank you. I've beem saving money for a PC that can run Planet Coaster for years and finally started playing yesterday.
I just bought the game and your videos help a lot because I've taken a long time trying to find the quickest different ways and hotkeys to build at a faster rate. You really helped simplify it here.
I just started playing the game again after getting a new pc and I needed a refresher. Thank you!
9:15 there is an option to use either world axis or object axis, its a button on the advance movement. Great video! It helped a lot

These are so helpful and you are so generous with your time! Thank you!!!
Man I have just seen half of the video and you already have given so many great tips.. Thanks!!
great videos, enjoy watching them a lot!
small suggestion if you have edit time left: add some text overlay when you are explaining the keys for example. Would help newer players easier understand what to press in sequence and why :) The explanations are perfectly fine, but sometimes a bit fast maybe? Keep it up!
That's a great sugestion, I'm obviously not going to be able to edit these ones, but I'll definately keep it in mind for any future tutorials
Thank you so much for these helpful tips 🤩
Your tutorials are better than those of the developer. Really, really good work. I'm looking for watching all of your videos. Subscribed!
Thank you! I actually quite like the official tutorials, but I'm glad you found mine useful :)
Thank you so much for making these videos! I've been so frustrated with paths and creating buildings and these videos have helped so much!
Glad I've helped! Thanks for watching :)
I love the music at the beginning of these also love the videos
These two videos helped me no end, thanks a bunch!
Awesome video, man! This one and the path video are hands down the most helpful tutorials out there!! Thanks man, hope you're gonna do more ; )
Thanks for watching! And yeah we have some more in the works :)
Terrific tutorial! So many helpful tips. Thank you and please keep them coming!
Thanks for watching :)
The technique you showed at 4:03 is that possible on console? The menu for items unfortunately closes whenever you select a piece.
Is it possible to build in a similar way attached to a flat ride? So I can them save the whole thing, ride, queue and themeing as a blueprint?
Question: IF you are making a "dark ride"--would you build the ride and track first then build the enclosure/building around it, or build the building first and then do the ride within?
Good question! Probably a mix of both honestly... start with the track but the place wall pieces as you go incase you need any major changes to the track to fit in wall corners etc :)

It's sucha useful little tip!
but in doing all this advanced building does the game register and reward how things look or is it just cosmetic/visual for the player?
Thanks for all your efforts, I had played RCT for years and when I got this game I didn't know where to begin. Your videos are really informative. Do you know if there is a keyboard sheet somewhere I could print have looked around but no luck yet. Please try no to digress some of us get lost easily especially me.. :-)
14:18 Just a tip, the F key works for more than just the sides of walls ;)
Oooh :) cool!

You are a saint sir! Subscribed.
Thanks! Welcome aboard!
Super helpful. I jumped straight into this game and thought I was doing ok until I watched these.
Ha! I'm still learning stuff too! Glad it's been useful :)

at 9:20 he said that you hold your CTRL while clicking you select both railings. But mine doesn't :'( When i do that he don't select anything...

I'm considering a tutorial series based on each style... Pirate buildings, Western buildings etc. What do you think?
Geekism i am officially excited!!
Much more talented than me. That being said, does anyone else find themselves clicking their mouse wheel trying to rotate while watching the video? hahah

As far as I am away, holding 'F' still centres items to walls
I"ll give it another whirl, thanks for responding!

+FightorFlight Gamer Thanks for watching :)
Hey great job on tutorials, I subscribed...Only thing i dont get about these vids, how do you know what the buildings are supposed to look like? Are you drawing them up using a picture or what?
I pretty much make them up as I go along, or I use reference images from google... or even take photos of buildings while I'm out and about!
Makes sense, I used references off of Google when I was doing Dutch Colonials in RCT3.
this is great cuz it sounds like you're rifling through a box full of gizmos
:D
Hoping the console version is good.
Hey Jonti, nice vid. Can I ask u something?
Sure, what's up?

Geekism Greetings from Germany!
And I should have watched this video first.

Don't go there they burnt the food. (Dark smoke) 🤭
This game is so frustrating :(
juplicate
+Doogz De guzman ?
I just like the way how you say it. :)
