Conan's very first episode was just 2 months before this and his first musical guest was Radiohead who performed their first single, Creep. And then just 2 months later he's got Bjork here performing her first (solo) single, Human Behavior. Conan, Bjork, Radiohead, the 1990's: peak civilization.
Whoa! Somewhere between this and the first night, I was there. Julianne Hatfield performed. I weirdly think a young Adam Sandler might have been on? Been too long.
@@khaashbal6407 the sterotype is metal heads would only like metal. i think this metal head says björk was so good it didnt have to be metal for them to like it?
So so so incredibly original. We don’t see originality anymore. She sings the song the way we fell in love with it. She goes full out, doesn’t diminish the forceful parts, doesn’t skip over the high notes, but does add a bit of different flair from the studio version. Love Björk.
I'm a former jock, brain, and rah. I was never a nerd, and I don't have an ounce of musical or artistic talent, but guys like me liked her too. Look at her fucking cheekbones! She is pure pixie perfection.
When she hits those high notes....I mean she is talented unlike many others. To write, sing, and perform your art is creating really masterpieces. I wonser where all of the inspiration comes from. ❤
I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't like her music at all as a kid. But now that I'm 40, I think it's amazing, and some of the best to come out of the 90's!
cgsweat, can you tell me do you know what song of hers had the most radio play? I am trying to find one song of hers that I used to hear that I like but I can not find it.
This live performance made me both a Bjork and Conan fan.......just a piece of 90's cool. We were really going in a good direction at that time. No idea how we got to the doofus state we are in now.......
I saw her live twice in the 90s in London. I discovered Bjork via 808 State Oops. It was her voice that grabbed me. That’s before I knew what an incredible artist she was. I love her music, but also her quirkyness. God I’d love to meet her! I once worked with a doctor in London, from Iceland, who HAD met her. Bjork is simply a unique, incredibly talented artist who is also incredibly endearing. And, if you haven’t seen Dancer in The Dark, you may not know what a stunning actor she is.
Bjork is ethereal, she transcends Conciousness then and now , even without the fame or money I just love ❤️ her , , she never seems to not age , , hit me from a different angle , this is my favorite song ,the only other woman musician is Melanie who just passed at 76 , the hottie at Woodstock.
I heard this song on the radio and bought the album shorty afterwards. It's fantastic...although she has quite a few awesome records, there's something about Debut that makes it probably my favorite. Some of the songs on it are so beautiful it's actually emotional a bit listening to it.
flawless. the early nineties were a funny time, getting buried and bogged down in an assortment of trash all over, but then you would turn on the network TV and occasionally get hit wit an eyeful of this.
absolute effing magic on late night tv; he had the best musical guests since the days of Fridays; this live version is, imo, better than the LP version. #heartconan
I appreciate the AI attempt to make this "remastered" but you can't just hit "auto" and expect it to look good. Play with the settings, it takes a careful touch in manual. Try all settings at 20% then go from there.
October 1993, sitting with a group of close friends in The Greenhouse Effect cafe in Amsterdam, my fiance in the group had decided that weekend to break up with me, minus 15 C outside, mugs of hot chocolate inside, and this album on repeat all day. Memories! 😊
Whenever I play Björk, my wife says, “I just don’t understand. You LIKE this? I don’t even understand what I’m listening to.” I’ve been explaining my fascination with her since the 90s. I tell people you can’t try to understand her by reflecting on anything you’ve seen/heard before. Instead, imagine you’ve wandered into a mystical forest and suddenly encounter a fairy or some other mythical entity. She cannot be easily understood as a human because she is such a unique creature. Just close your eyes and listen to this ethereal being tell you about the world through her eyes.
Hers is a genre unto itself, ever-changing like the wind. She's so non-formulaic and free that the sound of each new project is probably a surprise even to her. No wonder her earliest works still hit fresh. It is Kate Bush level artistry, where only a rare few live.
please enjoy!
fuck u im on acid this is horrible fuck ai ... on the other side... wow... this is shit...

Generation X rising
Also The Breeders! 1993 was a vibe and I'm sorry to those who missed out.
This is an amazing performance. I just listened to the studio version, and this is, of course different, but maybe better, more powerful.
"Peak civilization"... wow... so true.
Whoa! Somewhere between this and the first night, I was there. Julianne Hatfield performed. I weirdly think a young Adam Sandler might have been on? Been too long.
She killed it. What a force of nature she is.
YESS
That was crazy. It's so close to the studio quality of the song that I thought it was lip syncing for a bit. She's amazing
the tempo of her live here is slightly high . Her youtube video is a slightly lower tempo and sounds better
@@edwardmacnab354
Ok😐
Just incredible indeed
@@edwardmacnab354 I listen to the studio album weekly, and this is quite a bit faster.

The 90's was a great music decade, I didn't realize it back then.
She is so adorably weird here. You can’t help but completely be mesmerized by her
Well said😐
Very well said, so bizarrely cute but captivating. And what an unearthly voice!
I'm a metal head but I bought this cd when it first came out. She's the real deal. Pure passionate singing & writing.
see, ur a real metal head
why do metal heads think that they have to be exclusively interested in that genre, good music is good music

She's got way more complicated songs than this.

She’s miming.
Damn, she was gorgeous... Watching this reminds me why I was obsessed with her for several years.

One of the finest live perfomers ever. Truly a perfectionist (and a musical genius)
One of the most underrated, under appreciated voices in music. She’s a beast. So much character and range.

One of the most original songs ever
Flawless preformace
This is amazing, thanks for sharing! Always loved her music, but watching her face up close while she's singing is a mesmerizing experience!
Conan and team had great instincts. Little did he know how huge "Byerk" would be in just another year or so.
That’s exactly how you say it. I saw her in an interview saying it “rhymes with jerk”. ö is not o

Bjork's from outer space ☄️
The celestial part of it.

Her videos were exceptionally haunting and mezmerising
The video for this was exceptional. Michel Gondry directed
There is no more this level of coolness in today's music
Seeing her at red rocks twice are two of my best concert memories
I'm not a fan but holy crap... nothing but respect. She (and her band) absolutely nailed it.

This is the most 90s thing ever and that's why I love it
This is a song nobody is really capable of covering. . .The vocal stylings are too unique!
The groove is infectious and she prances so gracefully. And don't get me started on her singing...
