@@ConvictedCinephile Heat, while recognized as one of his best is really a kind of combination/ culmination / perfecting techniques etc. from two of his earliest films, "Thief" and "Manhunter" (the latter being the 1st adaptation of Red Dragon by Thomas Harris/Hannibal Lector's 1st film appearance). In most Mann films there's a strong film to music correlation, usually a scene that is entirely blue and other very specific stylistic choices. Even at 50% discount Black Hat isn't worth it. But if Criterion has a sale pick up Thief and find any good copy of Manhunter (not to be confused with the TV series which is also good but not related) and rewatch Heat.
The Witness 4K LE set is now OOP. Just FYI. You have to wait for the standard edition now. I personally ordered Warriors 4K, Barbarella 4K, and Tremors 2 4K via the B&N website and all three already shipped. I should be getting them tomorrow. I skipped Carlito's Way 4K since I own the Universal release but might get it later down the line if it drops in price and sold at Hamilton Books website. The Waterworld 4K LE is also OOP now I believe and getting harder and harder to find. I also ordered a copy from B&N as soon as the sale started but hasn't shipped yet. So, not sure if I will be able to get that one. Not a huge loss since I also already own the Universal release of that too. Anyways, thanks for the video and great haul!
Sadly no Barnes and Noble here in Canada … I worked in Minneapolis in the early 90s and remember visiting the store often. I recommend checking out ‘The Day of the Jackal’ if you have not seen it. I definitely agree both Hugo and Witness look incredible on 4k.
@@ConvictedCinephileYes, however, the shipping and duties really reduces the savings. Last fall, I ordered several titles from Arrow UK during a sale since they have a flat rate for shipping and there were no extra fees.
Damn criterions are always expensive. i have some i bought at worst buy lol. now that they dont carry physical media anymore i call em that. youre lucky dude you got a barnes and noble store . we dont have any in our area in South Texas
I also love Tremors 2. The best line (that I still quote to this day), "Doing what I can with what I got." -Burt Gummer.
Haha I'll have to start using that on the wife.
Michael Mann being decent is a wild take! Great haul and excited for this sale.
I haven't watched many Mann films in my defense lol
@@ConvictedCinephile which have you watched? (Black Hat is not good)
@anthonychilds8193 I love collateral. And I saw heat once but it was so long ago I remember literally nothing.

Oh yeah I've seen manhunter too but again it's been like 20 years 😆 I Own heat on 4k I just need to watch the damned thing
Look at all those amazing arrow video titles, also you got some awesome pick ups loving that barbarella set 😊 I really like arrow
Arrow is always great. But these boxsets are my favorite style
The Witness 4K looks fantastic.
That's what I hear. I hope I get mine 😆
Smell of Barbarella 4k box-set is better than the movie 🎥 Good luck buddy 🍻
😄 good thing it's a $30 scent.
Barbarella is such a ridiculous movie. Definitely a whacky fun time
I like whacky fun. Good to hear

I ordered witness yesterday the instant the sale started so hopefully I don't get screwed

Thanks for the recommendation. Are you at least able to order from them online or take advantage of Amazon (usually) matching prices?
@@ConvictedCinephileYes, however, the shipping and duties really reduces the savings. Last fall, I ordered several titles from Arrow UK during a sale since they have a flat rate for shipping and there were no extra fees.
Yeah, the flat rate is pretty painless. I still have credit to use on the arrow site haha
I ordered those three as well, I hope Witness 4k gets restocked. Conan is amazing, Arnold nearly did all the stunts in that movie.
Witness is online. And I saw it was in amazon last night for $30
Does BARNES & NOBLE in your area sell the 4K version of "The Warriors"? (Not the Bluray version)
Not the one I went to. I may order it. Amazon has it too

Yeah I've got several near(ish) but many newer ones don't sell movies
Always wait for the sale
I always (usually) do haha
Is B&N having a sale? I need to stop 🛑 by.
Yep, through the 5th of Feb
@@ConvictedCinephile I wonder if there vinyl is on sale also?
They sell it. Whether it's on sale I didn't notice haha
Someone had retail therapy today 😝
It was good timing because I wanted them, and I was already going to be within a block of the store 😆
