Episode 1 Elena said her parents car crashed on a bridge and went into the lake. She was in the back seat and survived but they didn’t. Additionally, Episode 1 before going to school, the TV behind Elena shows news of the two people that died, and they had just died. Her parents passed in spring (so a few months before).
Blake really thinks Damon’s gonna die rn. I agree with Corey, Damon is way too entertaining to be killed off. It’s only episode 4. He’s still Stefan’s brother too, they’re family at the end of the day. 😭

They never said Elena and Jeremy's parents were murdered, just that they died in a car accident. And Elena was in the car too. Yes to Blake being Team Stefan, but also Team Bonnie! As much as I love him, she's right to be suspicious of Stefan. The dude is being so weird lol And the music is legitimately one of the best things about the show. Fun fact: Damon is reading one of the Twilight books. The actor, Ian Somerhalder, is married to Nikki Reed who played one of the main characters in the Twilight movies.

Why would you want to kill Damon lol- he’s driving the plot. Without him you’d have some tea and biscuits for a show. Igly is spot on, the whole point of what Damon did was to plan out the moment of slight doubts within Elena and Stefan (also… it’s true lol I mean there are secrets, Stefan is casually dead) and Stefan self destructed playing right into it
Yes Paul Wesley (Stefan) has a real life rose tattoo on his right arm. The show liked it & felt it was easier for Stefan to keep it than have to cover it with makeup each time.
Umm...Elena literally told Stefan in like episode 1 what happened to her parents. Their car drove off of Whickery Bridge and she some how survived but they were trapped and drowned. Noone in the show has said anything about Elena's parents having been murdered. Keep in mind her parents have been dead for about a year maybe a little less then that, but the people in the 1st episode are about the same age as Elena and everyone else so they were to young to have a 17 yr old daughter and 15 yr old son.
Awesome theory, Blake. Sadly, if you read who appeared in the first episode you'll know that couple was Darren Mallory and Brooke Fenton. They were played by Steve Belford and Cindy Busby. In the pilot the grave Elena was visiting was Grayson Gilbert and Miranda Sommers Gilbert aka her and Jeremy's parents.
Fun fact, Kevin Williamson was one of the co writers on the vampire diaries and also Scream. Unsure how many series of the vampire diaries Kevin Williamson contributed too

I don't think there's anything wrong with the age gaps in fantasy shows. In real life, people still have the same mindset for decades, it's just that their bodies grow old, not their minds. And...people always complain about vampires and their age gaps but nobody ever say anything gross about how old Arwen was when she met Aragorn as a child! Even some grooming involved since he was raised in Rivendell. She was already 2700 yrs old! So 150 yrs is nothing. 😂🤣
Now, I think you guys should add "Interview With A Vampire" to your watch list. Ann Rice is the mother of portraying vampires in a different light. Whereas all previous vampires were modeled after Bram Stoker's version. Watch the movie first of course! Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise as vampires...😍

Listen, the most awesome part of your reactions and I’m sure everybody will agree with me is that you three men are some of the few people who have never watched the show, your age notwithstanding. I do hope all three of you get hooked really soon though. This show makes everybody remember what it was like to be a teenager, or they won’t appreciate it. It definitely helps to have some background in Gothic novels or other vampirish TV shows. It’s kind of hard to believe you have not seen any other vampire shows. Not Buffy? OMG. On the other hand, you were probably really young kids at the time? Anyway, don’t mean to be insulting. I’m just really hopeful that you’ll like this because it will be enjoyable for you and us.
