I think it's to showcase how "not human" Derek is. He's a born-werewolf, raised by other werewolves. He doesn't understand human nuances and social cues. Derek probably just thought that the others could hear him coming (as werewolves can) and thought his presence to be obvious. But, it isn't. So he justs 🧍and jumpscares people lol.
Tbh, Allison from S1 is the "best" of them all. Like, in S2 she's OBNOXIOUS as hell and in S3 she's a little bit less obnoxious, but she's insufferable either way (besides, I still can't get behind her fling with Isaac. And the thing is that I love Isaac, but idk, I just think it was messed up that he fixated on his friend's ex. Something that Allison knew, btw). And although she's kinda unbearable in S1 too after Kate gets her into the whole hunting thing, she was wayyy more likeable as a character than in the 2 other seasons, imo.
OMG! Teen wolf gave us one of the best characters ever in Stiles and man when people say you have to stay with the show there not kidding 3B is just really good. Stiles is and will forever be my favorite character and Dylan O'Brien gets better and better every season.

A werewolf spark is what turns a beta into a alpha. Alpha's have a bit extra on the spark which they can pass on to someone through a bite or scratch. You should also keep this in mind when thinking about werewolf's there shapeshifters first. So due to is there a shape-shifting spark it can shape in many different ways. A example of this is the alpha and why it looks more like a werewolf. Which is due to the fact his spark was mutated due to his insanity. That's why the alpha is known to be in the classification category as a beast alpha.
You will enjoy the series as it goes on!! Especially S3A/B but mostly B being everyone’s favorite. For Stiles/Lydia I like how they do progress from one sided crush to friends to more in a natural way. We ignore the movie as a canon event for a reason if you plan to watch it
They do get kinda confused with Dereks age in the series but he WAS supposed to be just out of his teens in the first season (and that’s my canon for the rest of the show because it just makes sense) So he’s just as „clueless“ as the rest of the cast because teenager and ptsd.
Yeahh I'm only on 2x11 but before this it's like... 1x1 says " like a few years" older than us" ( but 16-> 21ish) and his family burned in a fire "like 10 years ago" (it's 6). I figured it was just Stiles and normal realism(?) of not knowing exact details about someone (though 6 vs 10 years is kinda easy to remember) From 1x1 Stiles i would think like 18-19. Just...college. Like 2x3 driving E gave like "HS girl and her college bf" vibes/age difference. Sorry for rambling. TL,DR; It makes sense because from what Stiles said in 1x1 I would assume he's 18-19, but hearing what his age is make it seem like he was just off with both details
Omg its the scene you might be thinking of (there's a lot of them like that) in TVD is when Stefan had his humanity turned off and Lexi came back to life after vicky got help from the original and bonnie sent her back but kept the door open. Lexi was helping Elena get his humanity back on and Stefan was like " Please Elena, I love you help me" and then when she wouldn't help him, he started saying shit like "I hate you elena, I hated being with you, Lexi is crazy" or you might be thinking of when elena had her humanity off and stefan and damon were trying to get it back on but then she jumped into the sunlight without her ring and said "I am the woman you both love, you would never truly hurt me, so what do I have to fear?" It might be one of those.

So just to better explain what happened, Kate seduced a very young Derek to learn more about the Hale family. She didn't care that there were humans in his family and decided to set fire to the entire house when all of his family were together for a werewolf ceremony/reunion. Peter was the only one who got out and because he's a werewolf with a healing factor, it took him years to heal and he was in a coma. While in the coma his mind was also trying to heal, but due to the healing factor he was fully conscious the entire 6 years and was driven crazy. By the time he lured Laura to Beacon Hills he was still crazy, but more self aware. I hope you continue with the show because it's one of my favorites. Some things can get annoy, but I think the lore and characters make up for it.
