    You do not have to remove Air filter box. You can disconnect it from throttle body, move top filter cover portion without disconnecting air flow sensor out of the way and get decent access to throttle body.

      Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Yeah I think I had a little bit better idle speed than before, but not really a huge difference. However it is still a good maintenance thing to do and sometimes you notice a difference and sometimes you might not. I have seen plenty of vehicles with dirty throttle bodies and dirty idle air control ports that would not start and stay running at idle because they were clogged up with dirty crap. Well anyway have a good day.

    • @figibloom

      Is your engine light on? You can try to do an ignition switch trick to see if you have any DTC codes, which might help you in the right direction of your fault. Here is a video on how to look for stored trouble codes and I demonstrate this procedure on my 2003 Dodge Caravan so this trick should work for your as well. Here is the link.
      ruclips.net/video/sFmBn_P2UHw/видео.html Try this trick out to see if it gives you any help in pointing you in the right direction. Who knows you may have a stored code that tells you exactly what is wrong.
      The trouble is there could be a lot of things causing a rough idle issue. Some of the most common things that can cause a rough idle is a cylinder misfire (which could be caused from issues with fuel, compression, or ignition) Also you could have fuel, compression and ignition, but if your air to fuel ratio is off, that can cause a cylinder to run to rich or to lean and that can cause a cylinder to misfire. I would suggest getting an inexpensive obd2 scan tool, I am not suggesting one of the several thousand dollar ones that pros use, but perhaps a 15-20 dollar scan tool that will read obd2 codes and be able to read live sensor data. These are very handy to have, and should work on most cars that are 1996 and newer, it will read live data on several sensors, and give fuel trim data and other info. Here is a link to the very first cheap scan tool I bought online for around 20$ and mine still works great for reading codes, and getting live data on sensors, and it is very user friendly. ruclips.net/video/jOc0_VuGaQM/видео.html
      Having something like this allows you to look at engine data to help determine what is wrong with your vehicle.
      Well try the ignition trick and see if you have any codes stored. Also a simple thing to try to do to find a non contributing cylinder is a by doing a cylinder drop test. Which involves using a test light or wire to manually ground out the ignition coil. This is done while listening for rpm drops. Basically if you do this test and there is no rpm drop heard, that is the cylinder that is not contributing, and your problem is in that particular cylinder. Here is an excellent video that demonstrates this technique very well. ruclips.net/video/5ewJIBS9L98/видео.html
      Now I dont know if this is your problem or not, cause as I said it could be a lot of things, but if you have a misfire this is a good simple way to find it. (If you do this I suggest using rubber gloves because this test can give you a pretty good shock if your finger is closer than the test light, the shock is similar to a very bad static electricity shock, and it does it hurt if it gets you.) If you do find a misfire, you can try swapping spark plug wires or spark plugs with another cylinder and see if the misfire changes to the other cylinder. I hope that makes sense.
      Also I have a video series on how I replaced the plugs and wires on my dodge caravan you can check that out here.
      ruclips.net/video/DLJUZQ7tIvY/видео.html at about a minute in I start taking the plug wires off the ignition coil. The 3 in the front go to the front 3 cylinders and the 3 in the back go to the back 3 cylinders. You could use the same technique to find a dead cylinder, just like scanner danner showed in the above video..
      Well I hope some of this info helps you out, and helps you figure out your problems. Let me know what you find. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching. Have a good day.

    Hi Pierce, so I have an 05 dodge caravan 3.8l and the alternator went, my friend have a 06 with a 3.3l both v6 he is giving me his alternator, will it work. Thanks

    • @figibloom
      @figibloom  7 лет назад +1

      I am not 100% sure but I believe it should fit. The reason I say it will is if you go online to an autoparts store. I opened up two tabs in my browser, and searched on autozone.com in each tab. In one tab I searched the 05 dodge caravan (the 3.8l was listed under grand caravan) and I looked up the alternator for this vehicle. In the other tab I searched for the 06 3.3l alternator (was not sure which 3.3l, more than one 3.3l, you need to know 8th vin number that is the engine code) Anyway, I did an alternator search for both vehicles, and the alternator part numbers all matched for both years. So I believe they should swap out, but you may want to double check to be sure. Well thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Have a good day.

    my 2007 dodge grand caravan van started jerking on the fwy as soon as we to hit the gas got up to 50mph and it started jerking it wouldn't let me go over 50mph I had no choice but to get off the fwy and take the back streets home and the check engine light came on do you think this could be a problem if so please let me kno....
    ThankYou

    • @figibloom
      @figibloom  7 лет назад

      Yeah could be a problem if your check engine light came on, it could be a lot of things causing this. Try this trick to see if you can find a stored code, if you have a code let me know what it is. check this link for how to get codes ruclips.net/video/sFmBn_P2UHw/видео.html
      I showed how to do this trick on my 2003 dodge caravan and it works for that year but I am not sure if this trick works for a 2007 or not but you can try it and let me know if you have a code stored. Perhaps that can tell you more as to what is wrong. Otherwise I would suggest taking your vehicle to a local auto part store and ask them to scan it for you to see why your engine light is on (this is usually free to have them do it), or take it to a mechanic and have it looked at.
      Now driving your car around with an engine light on could be a very bad thing to do, because you could be damaging your car, it just depends on what is wrong with it. Hopefully that trick will tell you what code the engine set, but if not I would suggest having it looked at as soon as possible, and suggest not driving it until you know for sure why that engine light came on, but there is a reason the check engine light came on and you need to know what that reason is. Well I hope this info helps you out, and good luck to you. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Have a good day.

    hello..i tried that link you have sent me..the code that is showing up is p1684..what is that? i have clean my throttle body and intake valve just like in your video..and yup that code came up..

    • @figibloom
      @figibloom  7 лет назад

      P1684 I believe just means that your battery was disconnected with in the last 50 start cycles, at least that is what the code said it was from this website www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/dodge/ So was that the only code that came up when you did that ignition switch trick. If so you may try that cylinder drop test and see if all cylinders are contributing or perhaps one of your cylinders is misfiring and causing a rough idle. About the next step would be to hook up a scan tool and look at live data. I would probably take a hard look at fuel trims, o2 sensors and see what is going on with those. Or if you dont want to spend a lot of money buying tools. You may just try replacing the spark plugs and spark plug wires on it and see if that fixes your rough idle. Of course I dont like to just throw parts at a vehicle with out checking things out first, but if you dont own the tools to check those things out, you may just try swapping those parts out as a maintenance. I dont know how many miles are on your vehicle or when you last had those spark plugs and plug wires changed out, but I believe the maintenance interval says to replace spark plugs and spark plug wires every 100,000 miles. Well if you replace your own parts I suggest you check out rockauto.com they have hard to beat prices for automotive parts. Well I hope you figure out your issues. Have a good day.

      Most of the time unplugging the tps sensor or IAC will result is a dtc code and turn the check engine light on. You would need to use a scan tool to clear the codes after fixing sensor or plugging the sensor back in, or the codes can reset on their own after so many drive cycles. If the computer thinks there is a fault in the tps or iac depending on the computer programming it might run in another mode using other sensors to help determine the best way to run without the tps or iac. It just depends on the computer programming. Many computers have back up programming to run the vehicle when certain sensors go bad, or set a code. I hope this info helps you out, and what I explained makes sense. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Have a good day.
