It's a very good film, one of the best from Clint's early years. The film has a bit of a slow start, yet when it reaches Zion in Utah and Jack Cassidy appears it picks up. Long and episodic, the tension and interest pleasantly build. The scenery and cinematography are really top. Beautiful opening to the final sequence with Clint silhouetted by a backdrop of the Eiger and complemented by the gorgeous score of John Williams. (...) People like to dump on Clint's early films, really because everyone does it and it makes them feel accepted and correct. They are not correct. This was a very well done and entertaining film.
I saw this movie on the TV years ago and liked it. But, then again, I am not a critic and I see a movie for entertainment. This film entertained me and I still like to see it when it's broadcast.
+senorkaboom The music was about the best thing in the movie. The story was thin and gory, and some characters were a cartoon of themselves. But I still have a good laugh about the training unit with George.
Some other good lines: "I'm afraid I'm going to have to waste you a little." (to Pope) ---------------------------------------------------- "Don't study it off." (In the opening scene.) ------------------------------------------------------------- "Yes, I'm the one your after... The cold weather aggravates the old frostbite injury... Well, maybe one day we can do some more climbing together." "Maybe." (At the conclusion.)
le début du film est un homme qui boit une bière à une terrasse à Bern...( Suisse ) , traverse un pont , puis marche dans la vieille ville ...avec cette superbe musique du début de cette vidéo .

All that is true but the original novel was much better
@@travisfriedland9346 I'll look into it.
calm down....I've seen worse - the score makes up for it - let alone the scenery....!
While the book was better to be sure, Eastwood did his own climbing scenes. That took guts!! He should get credit for that!!
"Either of you friggin' vampires touch this telescope, you're gonna need surgery to get it out of your ass"

lutinbarjot no..ennio Morricone !
+MrLinoventura No, it was John Williams. Perhaps Ennio Morricone inspired John Williams?
Maybe what we need is a movie version of the novel Shibumi also by Trevanian maybe Keanau Reeves as Nikolai hel
Great ST... Williams really nailed it to the floorboards... I'm especially fond of the track "The Top of the World"... Thanx for the posting...
VERRY GOOD SOUNDTRACK !
Thanks a lot for this wondeful soundtrack.

it is a philosophical film, with the devil, angels and demons, in disorder, the cards thrown at random in the white turmoil of the god Eiger.
Interesting comment.
The book was better
a excellent movie, but the thought of looking at Clint Eastwoods mud-shot all the way through the movie, aint my idea of entertainment....
15:08 sounds so much like the star wars prequels even before the first star wars move came out
No actual movie??????
Um, no. Just soundtrack.
A truly bad flic...but a great score by John Williams. You know it is a bad flic when the dog in the Eiger Sanction is truly the best acting. lol
