Hey tymo , I have been wanting to start up my own thing for a while now , your videos have been popping up on my page and I thank you for taking your time to educate us. I’m 19 years old and have been painting for 3.5 years now , I know I have the craft to do this. Blue bucket.
How I think you can or should do is get business cards and go to a home store pass them out. Charge per square foot. 75 cents per square in Measure the room walls ceiling floors trim is extra. Each can of paint will cover 400 square ft always read the paint can instruction Use good brushes and be mindful of people s home. Be neat and clean. You will get more business
I'm guessing the guys who have painting businesses early is they either had jobs through their parents' friends or even began working directly for a father or uncle. I see that a lot. There is a guy on yt who claims his first contract was for a school. Well kids barely out of high school do not get those contracts, so BS obviously.
I was wondering on the truck problem, if im starting out I dont think I can afford to buy a truck or van to start off so would it be ok to show up in my standard sedan
I have done it both ways. But honestly you can usually get a discount if you set an account up with your local paint provider. Once you set up an account talk tonyour rep. Then , for example you pay 150 for a bucket, but can mark it up 25-30 percent and include it into your final price. Hope this helps. Quick answer

I worked out of my ford focus for the longest time, never had an issue👍
My dad painted for years out of an 03 Honda Civic
My only question is do you buy the pain or do you get the client to buy it and you charge for just labor and time

I feel like no one my age paints… I’m 30
Lot of money in it
The problem with a painting business is that it’s very dangerous. Always on ladders outside way up high. The chances of serious injury are very real.
