Just like you and many others have said. Pain for two weeks/10 rides. I tried the seat cushion and it helped maybe 10%. Just enough to power through with Ibuprofen. The bike shorts helped a whole lot more. I recommend trying both products, as I didn't want to bother with special shorts either. Unfortunately, for me, the special padded shorts seem to be the solution to alleviate discomfort.
It's because of how malleable your bones were. Even the fractures that kids experience are different from the ones adults experience. They're literally called "green-stick" fractures.
Honestly, I wonder if it is less about the seat and more about positioning. There are some videos about getting set up well but generally you want the seat high enough that your knees almost straighten but not quite. Handlebar height may also play a big role. Hope that helps!
My bike is quite comfortable, doesn’t cause a problem. It’s only a fold up entry level indoor cycle but I’m ready for more. This video is helpful for when I get my next bike as the seats look very hard and narrow. I think i'd prefer the seat cover from what you've said. Appreciating your advice !
I’m on ride 3 with the Echelon Sport/EXPrime and the pain is real! I have a gel seat cover; fingers crossed it goes away in a few weeks. Glad to hear the boot is coming off! Best wishes on PT!
I have not played with replacement seats so sorry, no feedback there. Handlebar covers are Spintowel and Velotowel. Both worked well with Velotowel being a little higher quality.
I just logged in and the link they provide no longer works. Googled and can't find them either. Not sure what is going on but wondering if they are no longer around. Will see what I can find out.
I am 280lbs. i got my s22i and i couldn't sit on this bike more than 2 mins because of butt pain. i bought gel cushion on second day and i lasted 7 mins. i am sure I can squeeze out till 20 mins but i don't want to have sore butt during work so i decided to go easy. i love bike but i can't bear the pain to sit on it. :(
They do make thick wide covers. Check Amazon. They have seat covers that are wide and 2" thick. I'm debating over the 2" thick (high) seat cover and this one. This is designed for the butt I know but it's only .63' thick.
I don’t have that bike to test but it is made to fit any narrow seat design. I have slapped it on a bunch bikes and it fits great. I am pretty sure it would fit real well.
Caleb, I"m about 12lbs lighter than you and I have suffered with my Echelon seat, but I kept adjusting it until I got it so I can ride 20 or 30 minutes comfortably. Keep the rides to 3 hours per week. Make sure the seat is at the right height. If it is too high you won't be letting any pressure off when you are pushing down on the pedals. Also raise the handlebars a bit. Tilt the seat down in the front slightly. Occasionally move your but in the saddle and always take advantage of getting out of the saddle and pedaling with your body on top of the pedals. I ride a road bike and can do 20 or 30 miles no pain at all because the seat is right for me. These Echelon seats are really made for women, and I'm sure the Peleton is the same way. Bike seats are sort of a personal thing. Good luck. If you have any numbness get off the bike and readjust the seat and handlebars until you find a fit that doesn't cause issues. Numbness is nerve damage that you want to avoid. Also some cycling shorts have a chamois or pad that is just too thick and can cause pressure too. Gel seats can also add to the problem. When you are over 200lbs the foam in the seat crushes under the weight under your sit bones. The rest of the foam then presses right on your perineum. Just keep working on it.
hey boss, quick question for yah. you look to be about 6'+ right? when you put your weight towards the rear of the seat, do you have any problem with the seat compressing too much so as the front rides painfully down your mid section(lack of PC words)? Is there a method to tilt the seat forward or is it all trial and error? thanks.
I have not had problems with this but I have heard of others running into this. Usually you can tilt the seat (I think most have a bolt you can loosen underneath) and make sure the front is not pointed up. Second, play around with where you are on the seat. Try moving backwards so you are utilizing the rear of the seat more. This may mean you need to move the seat forwards which most bikes do. The Komy seat cushion might also help a bit. Hope that helps!
If your a guy over 200lbs these seats are awful. I keep the rides to 20 or 30 minutes and that's it and appreciate a lot of out of the saddle riding. On my road bike I have a leather brooks sparrow and I can ride for hours in comfort. I think the problem is too much foam, which is nice for a lady, but for a guy my size my sit bones sink and the seat pushes right where it shouldn't. You mention keeping the seat flat. I think a slight tilt down is good if you aren't sliding forward. I think if I was 140lbs this wouldn't be an issue, but then I would be hitting the weights and not cycling.
I don’t think there’s an adjustment period, I think that’s a lie and isn’t truth, that it’s fake, and is not real. I’ve had mine for a long a** time man, I tried tons, and biked often for a long a** time for hours at a time. S*** still f****** hurt like h**, dude.
Sorry to hear it is not getting easier for you. Most people do report it that after a week or two it is no longer an issue, but obviously not everyone adapts.

These seats don't make much sense. The fact you need special shorts with padding in them should make it pretty obvious that these aren't designed well.

That seat is the devil. Not comfortable at all especially for a curvy girl. If it doesn’t get better after I install that gel cover, that Peloton is going back.
How long have you been using it? Some people notice a big change after a few weeks. Hope the cover helps. Also, try to get out of saddle more during rides so your body can adapt to the seat.
@@Learnwithtravis Thanks for responding. I’ve had my bike about two weeks and I haven’t yet installed my gel seat. I received it after Christmas. Pray for me 😂
What was your experience when you started riding?

It's funny that when we rode our 10 speeds as a kid....we could do 10 miles a day, every day, and our butts were fine...never hurt. LOL!
So true. I was a lot lighter back then but true!

My but is fine, but my lower back is having issues (inside and outside of biking)

Just did my second ride ever and I’m definitely feeling it! Going to try to make it to 10-20 before deciding whether or not to get a cover.
I think that is a great approach! Hope you are loving it!
@grow With will- did you end up using the cover? I did my second ride today and def felt it! 😅

Hang in there John. It can be real sore for a week or two but does get easier.
Bought both the shorts and the seat cover and it still hurts😭. This bike wasn’t cheap. Wish they made bigger seats for bigger bottoms😂
Yeah, it usually gets better over time. If not, you can also replace the seat with a wider seat.
I went to the bike shop and replaced it with seats made for older woman....it did the trick on my behind...lol

Do you know of the best "comfort" wide replacement saddle/seats for Peloton? Using for rehab. Thanks.
Sorry, I don't have a great answer for that one. If I come across something I will let you know!
I heard the Giddy up seat is good
I bought the schwinn ic4 try everything but got scared in send back. Before my 14 days returned run out. Only last 5 min
Did not you not like something or have problems?

I’ve tried both and still not comfortable. Of course I’m 230lbs so I’m riding pretty hard to lose weight and hopefully losing weight will help.
Darn. They do make wide seats if you want to do a replacement. But, like you said, weight loss and time might help out as well.

Most people don’t need the extras and find the standard seat works fine. These are available to those that need a little extra to be comfortable.
