There are interpreters always ready to translate, but do you ever wonder which Korean actors and actresses can manage interviews without them? I think the best way to see an actor is fluent in english or not is from an interview or daily conversation. not from singing english song or just reading some text or just from some lines in a movie/drama ( they can practice alot beforehand)
yeah lines in a drama/movie could also be said by voiceover actors
Wang JunKai from TFboys English is pretty good. This video only shows him singing English song. But he's had interviews in English and I will post the link. But not just him but the other members of TFboys also have decent English. Wang JunKai , Wang Yuan and Yi Yang QianXi are all UN Youth ambassadors. And have made speeches in English. Even if it's written beforehand and they have to memorise the speech but it is actually what they really wrote. But they do have interviews with no prepared script. Wang Yuan also went to study music at Berklee. So his English is pretty fluent as well. All members are pretty decent at English.

Right but not always. Some interviews are scripted before hand, meaning the actors know the questions that will be asked and they will definitely be ready to answer when that happens
@@xq3263 yeah but in an interview even if scripted it will be easier to answer in chinese since its his native language since he knows what's the question and he can come up with an answer beforehand and just say that but when answering in English you have to either have the answer to the question scripted out in advance and memorise it because when interviewing he could maybe say part but also miss parts. But the thing is TFboys debut when they were young. So they were still in school learning when they had activities around the world. So they know that they need to learn English. So even if their English can't be said fluent but they're English is pretty standard for English learnt from school.
@@islandgirl1793 an actress that I think is very hard working is Zhou DongYu cause she didn't know English at first and her study was not good but she spent time to study English when she continue filming. Now she can speak English fluently

Shawn Dou does not only speak English, but you cannot trace any accent in his phonetic delivery. Some of them have audible accent you cannot miss.

I am not from China but I get to watch China Drama series in our country. I am so sick of watching so many Dilraba drama. Why China got no other actress? Why always Dilraba? If got Dilraba drama again, I am going to complain to our TV station. I prefer to see other actress. No more Dilraba please. Too many already.
@@chuahping9299 What are you complaining about? She only had two dramas this year. The one actress that has too many dramas is Zhao Lusi. I am sick of seeing ZLS paired up the same leading men as Dilraba. She needs to stop acting in the same cute genre girl next door dramas. I do like her in the comedy dramas, because that is what she is best at.

Godfrey Gao need to be included he speak like native English speaker n he also acted in Hollywood mortal instruments city of bones. He is very famous how can we not add him here even though he is not here with us anymore. His English is super fluent.

No big deal here. English is an easy language to learn. I would be more amazed to see Cacusians speaking Chinese well, as Chinese is much harder to learn.

To be fluent you need to be able to read, write and speak it. Not just speak it. Be able to pass a conversation or an interview or be able to write a paper that can be understood. Just saying a few words here and there isn't fluency.
Most of the actors and actresses on your list were not really fluent and their English was not what I would be blown away with. Dilraba's English was poor and not fluent so why include her on the list? Is it because of her popularity? Xu Kaicheng and Mark Chao must be more fluent than those on your list. How would you qualify "fluent"? Please try to present a more believable list next time and I shall look forward to seeing it. Thank you!
English is important specially to those popular actor/actresses who need to travel around the world.As long as you know how to communicate in english,you can enjoy travelling because theres no language barrier between you and people wherever you are.Here in Philippines,English is our 2nd language and Philippines known as MULTI LANGUAGE COUNTRY.we can cross to different country without interpreter needed.
I didn't know English is Philippine second language,one of my fav actress Katherine Bernardo disappoints me when on international tours when she doesn't communicate in English🤦

As far as I remember, Deng Lun and Xing Zhao Lin also spoke fluent English in their interviews. (Xing Zhao Lin has a British English accent in the drama "You Are My Destiny", where he uses his own speaking voice.)
Song Weilong speaks English fluently and is very articulate with a British accent. He has spoken in his role twice at length with the movie filmed in 2016 and was aired in 2021, titled “Love Story In London” which is also known as “ Passage of My Youth”. His role as lead named as Jiang Hai.
Wang Zhuo Cheng (Jiang cheng from The untamed) is fluent in English and should be at the top of this list.
What about Jackie Chan?! He is a real Legend of the cinematography and his English is deffinitely blows away! :)

Out of all of them, Li Bing Bing is definitely a fair top pick. Definitely the most natural in speaking English. Jackson Yee impressed me the most. Not least because he was speaking at a UN conference. Wow!

Chen Fei Yu (Arthur Chen). There was an interview I saw on the internet where he translated for a guest from English to Chinese and vice versa. The translation was dead-on correct.
His eng is so good because he is American Chinese.

You missed Peter Ho. He’s Chinese American. Having been born in Los Angeles he is fluent, but most of his roles are Chinese roles. I really love his work as he is incredibly versatile.
He is fluent because he lived in Canada for a number of years.He may be born in the US but never lived here.

It definitely sounds like he lived in Canada and spent some time in the states, perhaps for acting jobs. All of the actors spoke English quite well though, some more fluently than others.
@@Godhelpus62 Yes I think he visited the US but never truly lived here. However, he did live in Canada. He talked about that before. Yup Peter is way more fluent than all of these people mentioned on this video. This video was not well put together. Maybe they were referring to those who did not really spend time overseas? If so then that is a different category which may be why Peter was not mentioned.

They can speak but are nothing near fluent… I guess people consider them good since they learned it as a foreign language and did not spend time overseas in an English speaking country.
I also must say that people should never claim that they can speak any language or fluently unless they can truly speak it.
I also don’t think Liu Yi Fei’s English is that great. It is good compared to the others who are learning but her English is not that good.

In the movie my mr merman/starry night, starry sea... William Feng says a few lines in English which blew me away. I honestly don’t know if he speaks English or if he just had a few English lines he had to memorize. Regardless, it was nice to hear his voice in my language

Their speaking is slower than native, they can speak, the pronounciation is good, but fluent, if fluent means speaking like a native, I think it is a no. But if fluent means speaking flows smoothly between each other, then it is a yes.

Fluent means the listener doesn't have to say 'say that again please' which in this case they are.

Well speaking English is not a big deal, everybody speak English. Chinese people learned to speak because they go to other countries to learn.
Not really as many of them truly can’t speak it. Even many who went to school overseas for years still cannot speak it. They just stick to their people and speak their first language only.
@@TrinhNguyen-sh4fj I agree. I’m Chinese and I’ve been overseas since I was 3. Back then there wasn’t any Chinese people around so I had no choice but to speak English. But now in High school there are more and more Chinese people. I finally have Chinese friends lol. They only stick to their group of Chinese students. Their english never improves and can barely understand the class. Then they go back to China and still not know how to speak English well.

Dilareba can speak English but not fluent at all. She still have a problem speaking her words, sentences and grammars. I couldn’t understand her sentence because of her wrong grammar but good for her for trying her best to speak English.
Although they speak English well, most of them aren't all that fluent. Even Jackie Chan speaks better English than some of these. The top few are good but not fluent. I'm an ESL native American teacher who values non natives who speak understandable English. These actors pretty much fit that requirement but aren't what I'd consider fluent speakers.

I want to make clear that it takes a lot of effort to learn another language, so kudos to these celebrities for trying. But mind-blowing English? I think this list is a popularity contest instead.
Maggie Cheung is a true polyglot: she’s is fluent in Italian, French, English, Mandarin, and Cantonese and can write and read and hit every tone. Li BingBing learnt from nothing-she never studied in English and lived in China her whole life. If someone is an ABC or lived in the US for part of their life, is it really fair to accredit them?

I did not see Riley Wang. He is exceptional speaking English. He was in Everyone Wants to Meet You and many others. He lived in Canada. He is much more fluent than these actors but all are doing well. Any language is difficult, but American English is all languages combined. We integrated everyone's language into our melting pot. That is why it is very difficult. It has all languages and their rules.

Despite being a native Chinese speaker,I find Cdrama still need to improve in terms of acting, scriptwriting and directing.Thankfully most of them have improved and less cheesy but it's still super irritating when they protrayed girls to be spoilt and demanding. Also why bother adopting English names? Be proud of your Chinese names

English is just a language it doesn't really tell if you are a genius or not, if you are good or bad , I don't know why people put Soo much emphasis on knowing English as a stepping stone to being good actor or singer
