The level on which Asmon underestimates this game is over 9000... So many things from FF7 are in XIV, and still permeate through all other iterations as well as many other games. Concept and structure of this game are still an inspiration for the industry. Not to mention the depth of the characters and story. It has so much soul.
Theory: They’ve been alluding to the fact that Jenova is causing Cloud to see things that are not there. Hence, him attacking Tifa and then Sephiroth. I think that he is going to be the one to kill Aerith, which would fall in line with the original since he almost did then. It would be absolutely wild if this happened 💀

Dude, same. 12 years old. I just finished the game today and it was worth every penny and worth the time I spent. Didn't even 100% the game and it took me 93 hours to finish. Fucking fantastic masterpiece 10/10, top 3 games I have ever played.
I want to wait to play all 3 when they're out....but I'm worried that's going to end up feeling disjointed as heck. Apparently progress doesn't carry over, so I'm going to play 3 separate games with different mechanics and grinds to finish playing one story? Like where's the incentive to grind for anything in part 1 when it's going to mean nothing in part 2, and the same for grinding in part 2 when all the progress will be lost in part 3?
I mean, you're acting like Square hasn't considered this. The games are designed to be played individually. Remake set up a bunch of questions and theories that sustained the fandom for 4 years without any real burnout. The leveling thing I don't think people think about intelligently. Remake is 25 - 40 hours. The game can't be faithful to the power scale of the original Midgar section. You need to constantly growing and unlocking materia and gear.

No you don't understand: Nomura will split the story in 2 timelines, one with Zack and Aerith alive and one that will follow the real story but with interferences from the other universe. It's pretty obvious at this point.

FF7 is one of the ultimate beloved video games of all times. how many rpg's you know (and love the entire cast?) remember every name? Even skippable characters like yuffie and vincent have huge followings. even side villains like the turks are super famous and well done and extremely popular.
This looks so amazing, I remember playing the OG7 in the late 90s on ps1. Just playing the first part of the remake and hearing Aeriths theme sent me, ugly crying and all. This continuation makes me heart feel sad and happy at the same time.
Love that Square Enix is going back to the Demo model. It shows the confidence they have that you’ll like the game and buy it, something most AAA companies dream of.
This game looks like it was made with a lot of love and it makes me so excited which is so rare to be excited for a triple a game it feels like its been years man and I know for a fact its gonna be a great experience.
The demo was better than I thought! Really cool to play as Sephiroth with his own fleshed out combat system. And the flashback gave him more humanity. I actually liked him even more and it made his fall from grace hit a little harder. This team should do all the other final fantasy games because they seem to understand game mechanics and cinematics.
I’m sure a lot of it is the same themes just played differently. Like sped up for possible a happy scene and slowed way down for sadder more stressful outcome

The game will be insane and i still have the original ps1 platinum Game in my storage. But people who didnt played the original in the 90s or early 2000 will never ever feel the greatness of this part of the series. I remember getting FF7 and my first playthrough and it was just epic, the graphic, the story the gameplay, the music. I get shivers hearing the orignial soundtrack. The only thing i am struggling with is that it will be 3 games and you level from every game from 0. I would prefer a complete game from start to end.

In one of the trailers, it asks how Tifa is alive after Seph knifed her, so she might be a ghost. Who ya gonna call?
The fact you never played the original. Like it's so hard to describe the moment Sephiroth kills Aerith. You've spent countless hours with her, leveling her, the story and then Sephiroth kills her and it's such a defining moment that they would even have the balls to kill her. It breaks your heart and then makes you so angry for that final fight that you HAVE to win no matter the cost. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. Anyone who has not played the original owes it to themselves.
I love how square have handled this remake, it's so creative to do it as a sequel/alternate universe to the original as if you have played the original you won't know what to expect and if your a new player you also won't know what to expect. Even though I'm only gonna play it in 2026 once it comes out on PC.

So... I agree with you in general but - the amount of content just in this trailer alone is literally mind-boggling. I know some people might not believe it, but it looks to be Baldurs Gate 3 level of content and effort. The amount of programming, modeling, animations, effects, camera movement, mini-games, systems like combat and beyond, the environments and scale of those environments... like dude I'm honestly surprised to see this trailer so shortly after FF7 REMAKE was released a few years ago (2020). This is gargantuan/monumental level of effort into what I've only seen of the trailer. It must have taken 1000 employees working non-stop 4 years to get this far. I'm a software developer and hobbyist game developer and I honestly can't even imagine the amount of co-ordination and sheer work that it would take to accomplish this. I played BG3 all the way through and more - and I'll say it again - this is at least equal level of effort or even more just in different aspects/areas of development. They made "400" sound tracks, that are all probably beautifully mastered and cared for. 400!!!! I could see that taking a team of 20 artists 4 years alone to make. Unreal. If they made FF7 Remake to be just 1 game, it would have taken probably 8-10 years, and it would have less content overall because of complexity and scope. This may be the better way overall. But yes - games that come out and are just 1 package out of the box is very nice and ideal.
Doing 3 parts was the best decision they could make. Instead of squeezing the whole story into 1 game, with less quality and quantity.. They give you 3 massive parts of the same story.. and put their heart and souls into every part. That's like being upset over Lord of the Rings being 3 parts.. Imagine Frodo sets off 5 minutes into the movie, and 3 hours later it's end credits.
Well he doesn't know that the FF7 Remake is not actually a Remake. It's a different story that plays into the original with some complex dimension shit.

I am laughing my a$$ off because Nomura said he was shocked about public received chapter 18 ending and he doesn't know how we would take the ending of this chapter. He recently also said that this distortion of the original story was completely his idea and Nojima was worried about it, he said he wanted to put the things he did with Kingdrom Hearts on FF7 storyline. I won't buy any of this garbage but i want to see how bad he did with the storyline. Can't wait to laugh.

I'm nostalgic for this game... so much so that I'm annoyed with what they did to it. I liked the combat, music, graphics and how they fleshed out the characters a little more. I hated all the padding and story changes 😔. Good thing I didn't pay for it, but I'm still very disappointed and upset =/.
I hope Hojo's death is fulfilling on this remake, He deserves an epic end of his Air Time... I saw Black chocobo climbing, so the Gold Choco can actually cruise the Ocean then, go get the Knights of the round summons... I hope am right so cool to see Chocobo running around the ocean.
Now we're starting to see a taste of that 1997 experience. Though I personally wish they'd just redo the story as it was, I wouldn't mind reliving it with all the QOL upgrades and extras. It is what it is though, I was personally disappointed with the first rebirth title but this is starting to look like a step in the right direction.

What blows my mind is how many people are blindly hating on it. Like it’s not even out yet one, two if it’s half as good as remake which it looks way better? Yeah, GOTY for me. It has the original story, but they’re putting a spin on it to keep things fresh and unpredictable. Like if you want the original, it’s right there to go play. I’m happy they’re trying something different and 100% will be playing day one. Not many FF games I haven’t enjoyed so I’m down. Plus FF7 is my absolute favorite of the series.
I usually get it first or second try every replay of FFX. Thunder strikes are easy too when you run in circles around one of those holes in the second area. I also love playing Blitzball so Wakka's is also pretty easy too.
For better, or worse, I feel like FF7 was the beginning of "cinematic" games. Most of you aren't old enough to remember, but this game had a huge impact on everything that came afterwards. I haven't played the remake, and I don't even plan to, but I think it's very cool that a game this old is getting a new life, with new gamers. It actually looks good, too 👍
Looking at interviews and such Kitase, the producer, has stated that he thinks traditional remakes are boring. He means that playing something a second time around with better technology isn't really worth it, even if it feels great for nostalgia, because you will just lose interest in the new version. He also commented on that since Sephiroth and Aeriths death is known, they "had" to change things up because otherwise people would be bored because of predictability. So his idea, and the whole team behind, is to simply go all out bonkers while trying to also give the OG in some sort of weird alternative timeline/reality way.

The folios reminds me of THE LAST REMNANT jrpg games. Where some skills could only be accessed when certain characters had certain levels together and had high or low levels of confidence during battle.
To this day the ff7 blitz ball cinematic was the most excited I have ever got for any game. I can't even express how insane it was back then I remember re watching it like 10 times just in awe that this was animated even now it holds up for the time jt was released it was insane.

I'm with you on that one. I miss playing with him and doing the trials/dungeons. Defiantly some of the most fun moments I had in the game.

Apparently progress doesn't carry over, so I'm going to play 3 separate games with different mechanics and grinds to finish playing one story? Like where's the incentive to grind for anything in part 1 when it's going to mean nothing in part 2, and the same for grinding in part 2 when all the progress will be lost in part 3?

I mean, you're acting like Square hasn't considered this. The games are designed to be played individually. Remake set up a bunch of questions and theories that sustained the fandom for 4 years without any real burnout.
The leveling thing I don't think people think about intelligently. Remake is 25 - 40 hours. The game can't be faithful to the power scale of the original Midgar section. You need to constantly growing and unlocking materia and gear.
Thats extremely dumb and not a single game has progress carry over to a sequel.

No you don't understand: Nomura will split the story in 2 timelines, one with Zack and Aerith alive and one that will follow the real story but with interferences from the other universe. It's pretty obvious at this point.
I played the demo and I don't need to hear anything else. I'm sick of hearing about it. I just wanna jump right into this masterpiece that I already started playing and already desperately NOW want to play even more after that godly demo.

This looks so amazing, I remember playing the OG7 in the late 90s on ps1. Just playing the first part of the remake and hearing Aeriths theme sent me, ugly crying and all. This continuation makes me heart feel sad and happy at the same time.
Love that Square Enix is going back to the Demo model. It shows the confidence they have that you’ll like the game and buy it, something most AAA companies dream of.
Square actually outs demos for most of their games, and has done that forever. Even for games that fail.
This game looks like it was made with a lot of love and it makes me so excited which is so rare to be excited for a triple a game it feels like its been years man and I know for a fact its gonna be a great experience.

The demo was better than I thought! Really cool to play as Sephiroth with his own fleshed out combat system. And the flashback gave him more humanity. I actually liked him even more and it made his fall from grace hit a little harder. This team should do all the other final fantasy games because they seem to understand game mechanics and cinematics.
It's kinda wierd that Azmon got this feeling all the way around, he played FF14 first, and get to know Alexander and gold saucer from there.

The game will be insane and i still have the original ps1 platinum Game in my storage. But people who didnt played the original in the 90s or early 2000 will never ever feel the greatness of this part of the series. I remember getting FF7 and my first playthrough and it was just epic, the graphic, the story the gameplay, the music. I get shivers hearing the orignial soundtrack. The only thing i am struggling with is that it will be 3 games and you level from every game from 0. I would prefer a complete game from start to end.

Barret got stabbed by Sephiroth (who is a ghost) and died so now he's a ghost maybe? Zack is now a ghost. In one of the trailers, it asks how Tifa is alive after Seph knifed her, so she might be a ghost.

The fact you never played the original. Like it's so hard to describe the moment Sephiroth kills Aerith. You've spent countless hours with her, leveling her, the story and then Sephiroth kills her and it's such a defining moment that they would even have the balls to kill her. It breaks your heart and then makes you so angry for that final fight that you HAVE to win no matter the cost. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. Anyone who has not played the original owes it to themselves.
Really glad that I'm still alive that I'm able to play the remake of FFVII and hopefully still alive to play remake FFX if ever they'll make one.

I love how square have handled this remake, it's so creative to do it as a sequel/alternate universe to the original as if you have played the original you won't know what to expect and if your a new player you also won't know what to expect. Even though I'm only gonna play it in 2026 once it comes out on PC.

So... I agree with you in general but - the amount of content just in this trailer alone is literally mind-boggling. I know some people might not believe it, but it looks to be Baldurs Gate 3 level of content and effort. The amount of programming, modeling, animations, effects, camera movement, mini-games, systems like combat and beyond, the environments and scale of those environments... like dude I'm honestly surprised to see this trailer so shortly after FF7 REMAKE was released a few years ago (2020). This is gargantuan/monumental level of effort into what I've only seen of the trailer. It must have taken 1000 employees working non-stop 4 years to get this far. I'm a software developer and hobbyist game developer and I honestly can't even imagine the amount of co-ordination and sheer work that it would take to accomplish this. I played BG3 all the way through and more - and I'll say it again - this is at least equal level of effort or even more just in different aspects/areas of development. They made "400" sound tracks, that are all probably beautifully mastered and cared for. 400!!!! I could see that taking a team of 20 artists 4 years alone to make. Unreal.
If they made FF7 Remake to be just 1 game, it would have taken probably 8-10 years, and it would have less content overall because of complexity and scope. This may be the better way overall.
But yes - games that come out and are just 1 package out of the box is very nice and ideal.
Doing 3 parts was the best decision they could make. Instead of squeezing the whole story into 1 game, with less quality and quantity.. They give you 3 massive parts of the same story.. and put their heart and souls into every part.
That's like being upset over Lord of the Rings being 3 parts.. Imagine Frodo sets off 5 minutes into the movie, and 3 hours later it's end credits.

I am laughing my a$$ off because Nomura said he was shocked about public received chapter 18 ending and he doesn't know how we would take the ending of this chapter. He recently also said that this distortion of the original story was completely his idea and Nojima was worried about it, he said he wanted to put the things he did with Kingdrom Hearts on FF7 storyline. I won't buy any of this garbage but i want to see how bad he did with the storyline. Can't wait to laugh.

I'm nostalgic for this game... so much so that I'm annoyed with what they did to it. I liked the combat, music, graphics and how they fleshed out the characters a little more. I hated all the padding and story changes 😔.

I hope Hojo's death is fulfilling on this remake, He deserves an epic end of his Air Time... I saw Black chocobo climbing, so the Gold Choco can actually cruise the Ocean then, go get the Knights of the round summons... I hope am right so cool to see Chocobo running around the ocean.
Now we're starting to see a taste of that 1997 experience. Though I personally wish they'd just redo the story as it was, I wouldn't mind reliving it with all the QOL upgrades and extras. It is what it is though, I was personally disappointed with the first rebirth title but this is starting to look like a step in the right direction.

What blows my mind is how many people are blindly hating on it. Like it’s not even out yet one, two if it’s half as good as remake which it looks way better? Yeah, GOTY for me. It has the original story, but they’re putting a spin on it to keep things fresh and unpredictable. Like if you want the original, it’s right there to go play. I’m happy they’re trying something different and 100% will be playing day one. Not many FF games I haven’t enjoyed so I’m down. Plus FF7 is my absolute favorite of the series.

I usually get it first or second try every replay of FFX. Thunder strikes are easy too when you run in circles around one of those holes in the second area. I also love playing Blitzball so Wakka's is also pretty easy too.

For better, or worse, I feel like FF7 was the beginning of "cinematic" games. Most of you aren't old enough to remember, but this game had a huge impact on everything that came afterwards.
I haven't played the remake, and I don't even plan to, but I think it's very cool that a game this old is getting a new life, with new gamers. It actually looks good, too 👍

Why did they change the story?
Looking at interviews and such Kitase, the producer, has stated that he thinks traditional remakes are boring. He means that playing something a second time around with better technology isn't really worth it, even if it feels great for nostalgia, because you will just lose interest in the new version. He also commented on that since Sephiroth and Aeriths death is known, they "had" to change things up because otherwise people would be bored because of predictability.
So his idea, and the whole team behind, is to simply go all out bonkers while trying to also give the OG in some sort of weird alternative timeline/reality way.

Played the original, but the new combat system and story changes don't make me want to play it. I just watch this "movie" on youtube.
The folios reminds me of THE LAST REMNANT jrpg games. Where some skills could only be accessed when certain characters had certain levels together and had high or low levels of confidence during battle.
I wanted a remake of FFVII, not a completely different story.
If you're thinking about playing this, I heavily suggest playing Remake first. You'll be a bit lost I think coming in partway through the story
To this day the ff7 blitz ball cinematic was the most excited I have ever got for any game. I can't even express how insane it was back then I remember re watching it like 10 times just in awe that this was animated even now it holds up for the time jt was released it was insane.
