Biggest problem with Kaan is its not ready yet .The jet is powered by american engine, the Turkish engine needs a few more years to be ready. Meanwhile Egypt is in a hurry and the best choice in the short time is China's J-10 . In the future best choice is Turkiye.

China on the other hand is far away and does not have vassal states or client state in the middle east like the US does. The best upgrade is to replace all systems that require U.S. product support. If Turkey and dependable third party suppliers can replace any part of the F-16, then that is one way to keep them in service. If not, then replace them.

Too early! Egypt needs to urgently replace its F16 Blocks 15 and 32 jetc fighters (about 70 of them) as soon as possible, definitely before 2028! J10C is best choice now along with the comaprable light version TA 50 of South Korea (longer term beyond 2030 for operational reasons). KAAN is an entirely different category and Egypt can not wait until KAAN project starts mass production!
The KAAN is still under development. It would be a good diplomatic move for Egypt to place an early order for 3 or 4 of them and down payment. It's a vote of confidence that will create much goodwill between Ankara and Cairo. Once Egypt takes delivery of the 3 or 4 KAAN fighters, and they meet Egypt's needs, then Turkey would be inclined to sell more to Egypt under very very favorable terms.
They need time to fully develop their indigenous 5th gen aircraft. It’s not like making a tank or ifv. Engine tech is really difficult to master. It took china decades before coming with the ws10 for example. Even Sweden doesn’t produce its own turbine cores for their gripens. Best thing to do is seal the deal with the j10c with bvr capabilities now and then put down a first order with turkey later. And even then, kaan will only be supplemental and not fully standardized on, it’ll be mixed in with possibly j31
I don’t think China has anything to worry about. The J20 is simply too good a deal for Egypt to pass up and makes for a perfect upgrade to the fighters they already have. The J20 also doesn’t directly compete with Turkey’s fifth generation stealth fighter, so everybody wins, except The US, France and Israel.
Egypt is only threatened by NATO and Israel. Think about that for a moment. Otherwise, why on earth would Egypt have joined BRICS? Does it make sense now. Slowly but surely Egypt will become economically and militarily free.

Turkey won't be allowed to sell KAAN to Egypt. They worked with BAE to develop the fighter jet and the engines are all American made General Electric. If the Western powers didn't want Egypt to have an edge over Israel, why would they let Turkey, a NATO country, sell their fighter jet which isn't all that indigenous anyways?

Why Egypt does not join KAAN project of Turkiye
Too early! Egypt needs to urgently replace its F16 Blocks 15 and 32 jetc fighters (about 70 of them) as soon as possible, definitely before 2028! J10C is best choice now along with the comaprable light version TA 50 of South Korea (longer term beyond 2030 for operational reasons). KAAN is an entirely different category and Egypt can not wait until KAAN project starts mass production!

I don’t think China has anything to worry about. The J20 is simply too good a deal for Egypt to pass up and makes for a perfect upgrade to the fighters they already have. The J20 also doesn’t directly compete with Turkey’s fifth generation stealth fighter, so everybody wins, except The US, France and Israel.
