As a Seattle native in my 30's I feel like the real Washington gang stories will never be properly told now. Most of those areas: Rainer beach/ Holly park, the CD, West Seattle, white Center, etc have completely changed from how they were even 5 years ago. And Tacoma/Kent/federal way has its own dark history. I lived off of Henderson and hung out in the CD for most my life so I know how it was. And even though it's great that those places are safer, it's sad that so many places from my past are just gone. I've lived here my whole life but I barely recognize this place sometimes. It's wild, but I'll always love my city.
That “will always love my city regardless” mentality is exactly what the politicians who brought this upon you were preying on and hoping for... Born and raised in Seattle and have lived in the “South end” for most of my life. It has always been one of the roughest areas in Seattle. It isn’t surprising. Sad to say, it’s regular for around here. They don’t even mention Rainier Vista and the CD. Just because the areas have been gentrified, doesn’t mean you can completely get rid of the hood. Seattle will always be my home.

Born and raised in Seattle and have lived in the “South end” for most of my life. It has always been one of the roughest areas in Seattle. It isn’t surprising. Sad to say, it’s regular for around here. They don’t even mention Rainier Vista and the CD. Just because the areas have been gentrified, doesn’t mean you can completely get rid of the hood. Seattle will always be my home.
Only the northern part of South End/Rainier Valley is gentrified. The southern part near Skyway is still a ghetto.
