Absolutely agree, took me over 20 years to get a diagnosis and now instead of my health continuing to deteriorate with no answers I have a chance but it’s a long tough slog. Persistence and advocacy is so key to unraveling rare and chronic medical conditions. Best wishes and healing thoughts to all who are going through something similar❤️🩹

As a nurse I did think something wasn’t right with Percy so thank god for his son’s expertise. So here’s to getting Percy back to his wonderful healthy self.🥂❤
Percy should make sure that all the previous doctors involved are updated on the diagnosis. When you get it wrong. (Even understandably) its important to tell them because they will learn for the future. We usually present cases like this in our teaching grand rounds so that we keep educating each other
P.s TB is on the rise again so we should update ourselves in the medical fields

There are people “out there” who are critical of your vlog because you never do any renovations. I think it’s because they came here from the Chateau DIY TV program. But from the very beginning of the vlog (which is totally separate from the TV show), it has been about life in a French chateau. It’s call the Chateau Dairies-and it’s about your day to day life in the French countryside. I enjoy seeing the the picnics, parties and fetes, trips to the brocantes, the evolution of the garden and grounds and most importantly, what’s for dinner. 😂 Life is not all dahlias and sunsets, sometimes it’s worrisome and unhappy, and that’s okay. It’s part of the diary. I used to work in hospitality and I know how you have to be smiley and create special moments for your guests even though you are dealing with illness and uncertainty. But your viewers are not BnB guests, we are your quasi volunteers and backstage friends. We are here to cheer you on, not just be entertained. Keep calm and carry on. 😘

Yes agreed! A health intervention by the family in England also helped save his life!! Otherwise the urgency to get more helpful treatment may have stopped! So glad Stephanie, Gerald (and Philip & Isabelle) got Percy in to see the Ear Nose Throat specialist when they did!!!
I’m in Texas and have no ties to France, England, or South Africa. But here I am, having a little weep for a man I’ve never met! But that’s the power of the Internet and Stephanie and her family so, I am sending many many positive healing vibes from Texas to Percy!

I have seen latent tuberculosis twice in 20 years as a physician and in both cases it showed up in the retina of the eye. Such a strange disease and so treatable. So happy for all of you and for Percy especially.

I‘m so glad the reason for his pain was found and it can be cured. I was worried since percy really looked unwell in the past videos. I wish him a quick recovery so he can quickly resume to writing poetry

My brother had it when he was one year old. That was 57 years ago. So we send prayers and love to you all. Hugs for Mummy and Percy.
One of my favourite friends, who is Scottish, had TB of the throat when she was a young teen. She was in a treatment centre for about 1&1/2 years. She is now 82 and living well in Canada, so there is massive hope for Percy. This is heartbreaking news but I'm sure we all will be praying for a strong recovery. Oh okay don't feel bad sharing this! It's still an escape for us bc it makes us feel part of the family. Like we are part of another reality. If it's happy all the time we'd know that was fake and that's not an escape. Plus we've come to love all you deeply, so we're are concerned and want to be involved and included!! Thank you Stephanie (and Percy) for your honesty. I think many of us have understood that Percy has been struggling with something, it's difficult to not notice the difference if you've followed along for a while.
I'm so relieved to hear it's not cancer, but honestly stunned to hear he's got a rare form of TB. He's honestly so lucky to have had all of you to support him and also refuse to take no for an answer. It's really a huge problem, especially for the elderly, to be taken seriously, and to get to see the right specialist. Many pensioners are gaslighted, and told its basically old age, not as serious as they experience it.
Percy's son's clarity of mind, and direction on what to test for has most likely saved his father's life! I'm very sorry to hear it will be a long journey to full recovery, but very relieved to hear he can, and will. Which is an overall sign his general health before he got this was very good!
Wishing Percy a successful healing process and as comfortable and prompt as possible. Keep the faith dear Percy, and focus on one day at a time, and you'll get through this. ❤

The camera doesnt lie, and forced pepp undermines the channels integrity. The Chateau diaries isn't a soap opera, but a vlog about real people in a real place experiencing authentic joys and challenges.
Most of us wouldn't want you to just put up fake smiles, NOT for our sake l.
We care and can all relate in one way or another to this news, to your struggles whatever they may be, and whilst some of your lifestyle is very exotic to many, humanity and empathy unites us. Not just the fun bits. I very much appreciate when you're real with us, that's the whole difference between mainstream network media and youtube in the first place. My heart goes out for Percy and really relieved it’s not the big C. Who doesn’t love Percy, so adorable, calm, kind and loving inspite of what he’s been through. I am relieved for Isabel too that she is cancer free as it is contagious.

I am 66 years young, and my Grandmother had tuberculosis when she was young, and was sent to pine forests somewhere to help her breathing. Obviously, she survived, and lived until she was 86 years old. We are all wishing Percy a speedy, speedy recovery. xxx

My Dad had Tuberculosis in the 90's. He had to take medicine for 6 months and luckily it cleared up with just one round of treatment. Prayers for Percy! 🙏
Stephanie, thank you; this is such an important reminder to always trust your gut and ask for a second opinion if what the doctor says doesn’t feel right. My husband was diagnosed with cancer after going back to the doctor and asking for follow up tests. After a year of chemo, two major surgeries and more chemo we have just been told he is in remission. I wouldn’t have him here today if he hadn’t gone back to the doctor. Percy, I wish you all the best for your recovery. Love to you all xx

In the West, most doctors have not seen a single TB case, that's why it goes undiagnosed, unless the patent is caughing up blood. And TB in an unusual location, like the throat, never gets diagnosed in the West. When you hear hooves, don't assume it's a zebra, that sort of thing. No wonder Percy's practicing South African surgeon son spotted it because TB is endemic there.

Aloha Stephanie, thank you for sharing about Percy. Being an empath and a bit clairvoyant, I felt that something wasn’t right with Percy’s health. Am relieved to hear that it’s curable and that he’s in the best of hands. His voice just kept getting more and more labored when trying to speak. He is as chivalrous are they make them - truly one of a kind strong, handsome, compassionate, gentle, loving, I could go on forever, men ever. I’m so very happy that dear Percy has had a correct diagnosis and is being treated. I hope he has a good recovery.
My late Father in law became similarly unwell and was told he had cancer. He decided there and then to refuse all treatment and food. At some stage the doctors wanted a throat swab which he refused. He died 5 weeks after being admitted to hospital. An autopsy was requested by the family and he also had TB not cancer. The family were tested.
I completely agree with what Stephanie said that you need to push and push for diagnosis when what is being said doesn’t feel correct.
