- This is a video review of LEGO sets 9516 (Jabba's Palace) and 75005 (Rancor Pit), as well as some related things like a store display and a custom (MOC) version of Jabba's Palace that I designed.

The “non sensical” addition of darth maul in the corner is because every Star Wars product in 2012 had it in the corner
I’m aware of that, of course. I just don’t really like that approach to packaging. It makes everything look too similar, and a prequel character like Darth Maul seems kind of out of place for original trilogy sets
Mighty Jabba's Collection i think it’s because season 4 of the clone wars aired in 2012 and darth maul comes back that season

I think that was a marketing decision for Star Wars merchandise at the time because the Phantom Menace had just gotten re-released in theaters.
@@MightyJabbasCollection the new sets now have the same white packaging that makes it look like the box itself was built out of Lego, and according to source material, the character of the top corner changes: movies is Darth Vader, Rise of Skywalker specific things are Kylo Ren (and black coloring), Clone Wars is a 312st Trooper, and The Mandalorian is the Mando himself. It is mostly consistent and I guess it solves the Maul problem. Interestingly, the only set based on Battlefront 2 still featured Darth Vader on the top corner, so not everything is perfect. Also, the 20th anniversary sets and Microfighters don’t have this packaging.

About the Darth Maul in the top right of the box: Lego always uses a certain box art to differentiate each year or wave of sets. While the design has nothing to do with Jabba’s palace itself, it was a design which represented the year this set came out. I believe that art was used for 2012, and, for example, they used Yoda for 2013, Vader for 2014, a stormtrooper for 2015, and so on and so forth. I hope this helps!

I really appreciate the good review , by someone who knows what their talking about. Some lego reviewers didn't make a video for this set because of the controversy around it. I think that the custom is really detailed as well. Great video (edit) didn't know you covered the controversy in the video

My first LEGO Star Wars set was the rancor set. My dad built it for me and for years I didn’t know it went with other sets
2_screwz _loose my first was the original obiwan ship (it was made sometime between 1999 and 2008) I think, idk because i didn’t get my first set on shelves my mom bought it off of eBay when I was young so idk what year it came from

I want lego to re-release this again with all of the jabba related things including the sail barge
I know Im 3 years late, but theres a plate that hooks into another plate with a hole, sort of like a hinge, door thing. And what you can do is take a 2x2 with a bracket connecter on the bottom, and studs on the top, and use a LONG axle piece like the ones in the OLD Mustafar battle set, and use that as the trap door! :3 its easy, and doesnt seem TOO difficult to add in!

SETS ARENT DISCONTINUED but this was released nearly a decade after the 2003 attempt also why did lego not have printing on custom head moulds or custom minifigures

Wait, I thought the top of Jabba's palace was supposed to be a weapon embankment, like to keep him safe. Did I imagine that or remember it from childhood??? Maybe the Lore on the SWTCCG warped me.
