If you haven't yet seen the first episode in this series, check it out here: ruclips.net/video/WaE66zscJsI/видео.html Edit: I made a mistake in regards to Choir of the Storm. I stated that the lightning bolt proc dealt "2500 base damage", which is only true for a nonexistent level 30 version of the skill. The level 20 version of lightning bolt included with the amulet only deals ~1100 damage. Special thanks to Rowan Spencer in the comments for pointing this out. The statements I made about it dealing 250k DPS on my CoC arc build are however still correct.
As a note about the aspect of the crab chest. My league starter for 3.9 was a lacerate gladiator, and I went down the axe route. However, after I was already relatively committed I went onto Poe ninja and found the most successful and predominant build for lacerate was actually double ichimonji with aspect of the crab items - later transitioning into crit and other juicy one-handed weapons. Assuming impale doesn't see bad nerfs, I imagine this is a good starter for people to consider.
pastebin.com/Yse6iqTm You'll be able to see it early league - rn everyone has either switcher into rapiers w/ saviour, rapier with the surrender or double axes. The POB is roughly what I saw and I haven't included anything beyond the two swords.
Thanks for the shout-out :) I used malachais artifice on 2 of my builds aswell this league so I can definetely agree that those items are incredibly powerful and underrated :)
Something to note with the Carapace and Aspect of the Crab, is that you only lose the phys mitigation if you were HIT recently. So against Degens, this is just "free" mitigation. Excellent defensive layer for builds that struggle with degens, and also for Sirus in general.
the searing touch is incredible for things like Scorching Ray, which is also underrated. another great skill which benefits from it is fire trap - the burning ground of it. trickster can pretty easily get over 2m shaper dps on scorching ray and about 1m shaper dps on fire trap burning ground on just a 4 link. its extremely cheap, easy, and powerful for league starters and such
did my dual 6l firetrap+fireball hybrid trickster build with it, loved the burningground+ignite combo. stoped playing after sirus 6 though but was a easy fight.
Hey Nathan love the series and watch almost all your stuff. Just for the trivia, the shield you are trying to pronounce is the greek word for "adventure", but slightly misspelled. "Περιπέτεια" or Peripeteia, pronounced Pae-ree-pae-tee-a. :)
Yeah. I've used this combo with both helmet and boots before and it's kinda disgusting how tanky you'll get. Had an EQ Pathfinder with the combo in Legion and it barely ever died even with ONLY 5.3k hp.
I cant remember if you mentioned the Inward Eye helmet in the last video. If you didnt I highly recommend this item. Cheap and really nice! Love this series. Thanks!
Heirophant builds can get thicc numbers from it. Hell, it's even amazing on a CI or LL build. Mine builds will still prefer Indigion, but Inward Eye is really amazing so long as you aren't a minion or mine build and want ES.
I have trouble not wanting this on every build. It's great for mom too. A perfect rolled one is nothing. I've made like 10 exalts enchanting these the past week when there were short labs
Man I love this, I just discovered your channel and I'm using a bunch of the uniques you've mentioned in these videos. I'm running a self-cast Divine Ire Inquisitor with Cerberus Limb, Perepeteia, The Brine Crown, Choir of the Storm and Gifts from Above, 9k ES+Life, 20k Armor, 2.5m Shaper DPS, 10/10 would recommend :D
Voidforge is one of my favorite weapons in the entire game and i honestly think its stronger than starforge since crits with elemental damage are so good for defenses AND offenses. chill? great, freeze? perfect, ignite? free damage. its also unbelievably cheap early league in comparison to similar weapons. i have made a few builds with multiple millions of dps (5+ in POB) and it works so well. Another item that i love but is so far off meta it mind as well be dying in a pit is Pillar of the caged god, so cheap to scale for a league start and its like playing facebreakers except you also get strength scaling which means a ton of extra hp in addition you can get even more + physical damage than facebreakers so easily
Great video series! Its nice to see someone putting some of the less used ones into the spotlight :) I myself used Perepiteia last league since the Lightning Aegis really helps u avoid alot of damage.
Great video once again. Really enjoyed hearing your perspective on some uniques that I’ve never considered using. Still hoping to see a video on uniques that you believe are over-valued!
Great video. Another important downside of Malachai's Artifice is that you can't use heralds of your main element, as that would add to whatever spell or attack you use to proc the EE on the Malachai gem.
And now please do this series for Noteworthy Rare Mod Combos, Stuff like ilvl1 Bows for casters, Gem Level Slamming on Bows, Unique modifier Combinations using Awakeners Orb.
I picked up a Breathstealer for like 5c (Blight unique gloves) this league because my gloves were a free slot. I wanted an extra annointment and was super surprised at how well it functioned. They have a mini inspired learning effect that makes a totem with a random aura when you kill a rare mob which I wasn’t expecting for the price. Since glove enchants aren’t a big deal, you’re getting a free notable as “stats” on the glove, which I ended up annointing 75% increased crit chance while dual wielding. Those gloves hit base crit to attacks when I vaaled them, and it was insane for my build. Maybe you might consider playing around with it and featuring it next time
Don't forget that th EE mechanic on malachai ring also is great for another reason, you CAN get EE on a lightning or flame golem and they will proc the EE for you without having to care if you have a minuscule damage boost that can fk up the EE.
I think you’re misunderstanding Malachai’s Artifice: the “element” of the gem you socket is not what grants EE, it’s damage dealt by the ability granted by the gem. So socketing Leap Slam while you have fire damage to attacks (say) will grant fire resistance and cold/lightning penetration to enemies you hit with that Leap Slam, not just in general. It’s actually harder to use than you might think especially as many builds that scale a damage type tend to have effects that deal flat amounts of that damage!
You can, however, use a minion like a Golem, or if you have added damage to attacks, use a spell like Storm Brand. I used Summon Holy Relic with an added ele damage to minions abyss jewel a while back. Even works with Avatar of Fire.
I want a number 3! Underrated uniques are one of few ways to make cheap builds that are also semi good :D It's a good reminder of all the old items you used to use but has fallen out of the meta.
Searing Touch is also a fantastic, incredibly efficient item for mine and trap builds trying to stack ignite damage off something like pyroclast or flamethrower trap!
craiceann's carapace is the first chest I was consider to equip as some sort of "test" armor on my necro golemancer with other "you can not be hindered and corrupted bloodline can not be inflicted on you" gems and boy..it's so smooth to play without all of this piscy and rippy things that mobs can inflict on you during map clear/boss encounter.
Man I'm subscribing just for this video. Excellent explanation and perfect list for a "snowflake" builder like me lol. I love finding fringe builds that are viable, but even after 4 straight leagues I'm not comfortable enough with the gear pool in PoE to make assumptions myself. Great vid! Keep goin!
Hyaon is the official One Handed Sword of the Raider ascendancy. Seven or more Frenzy charges, full investment in Minimum Charges circle, Ascendancy Frenzy buffs, it's a really good snowball.
Ichimonji is the only source of buff effect increase in game according to wiki(there used to be some passives). Its also the reason phase run got nerfed since you could be pretty much invisible to mobs.
Choir of the Storm was part of my first serious build back then, with Storm Burst and Scion, don't remember ascendances, it was back then when she got this "murder in the eye" portrait.
You will always have mixed commends and haters, I myself leaved an kinda negative comment on your last video due to your unique chest better than rare chest argument, but there will always be the extreme trolls/haters. This is a great series and this video is way better than the last one. Keep doing it.
Skin of the Loyal can be great defence-wise only if you have a lot of defences on other items. So it crap for trickster. Also, you must mention socketing Empower into it.
Kongor is underrated because it gives you tons of free stuff without any sort of investment for a melee/pure physical build. Most mace builds get Resolute Technique anyways, so all the stats are pure gains. that ease the skill tree pressure for certain stats (acc, RT and res).
I know this is based on Poe.ninja, but marylene amulet is used on a lot of deep delvers, the perepiteia is used on most top tier lab runners and ichimonji is used on a lot of budget builds but yeah I guess all of these items are only used in niche builds
Marylene's Fallacy is one of, if not, my favorite Uniques in general, though I also adore Hyrri's Truth ha. Both are such powerhouse options for a plethora of builds.
I really like Kongors too..... Made a lvl 90 EO Cyclone Jugg with it and was pretty decent considering Berserker does way more damage. Did up to T14 comfortably with crappy rings, amulet, and jewels. I went 100% cold conversion with Hrimburn though im slowly leveling a Zerker in standard and gonna transfer my gear over one day. Cold conversion Zerker Kongor use to do T16 and i seen some Elder/Shaper videos before.....but im not sure if it can still or not tbh
For Cerberus Limb you forgot to mention that is gives Spell leech for LIFE instead of ES like you find on the tree, which is next to boot enchant, hiero arcane surge asendancy and ele leech as life mods like on doryani's catalyst the only other source of spell dmg leeched as life, and even rarer, the only source of spell leech against bosses without adds when not using hiero and a physical spell, like for example Blade Vortex or EK
The first ever build that I put together a PoB for was also with the full crab set lol. I have yet to play it though. The PoB damage is kinda bad but I have 2 rares in the build so I can't get more somewhere else, at least I am playing with the # of uniques that GGG wants in builds.
Love these vids man great job.I will probably build around some of these items especially the Hyalons and Kongor. But his "mathil effect" talk sounds like a meme to me. He does not spike the cost of items when he uses them. I've never seen that happen.
I cleared t15 maps with hyaons fury raider static strike in 3.8 at essentially the speed of leap slam, whole char had a budget of under 1ex. Synergises with perquil's toe and had a '5l' vaal warchief in doryanis fist for ST, but at t13+ solo bossing was very risky. Clears t16 mobs just fine too but doest make sense to run but skip guardians. Don't think it'll work well anymore due to the big late game monster ehp buffs in 3.9.
10:40 Personally used Marylene's for my Crit Impale Berserker since 240% is insane, though I moved out of it when I decided to go Blitz instead of Rite of Ruin. Since even with a ridiculous crit setup, I could only get it up to 50% and that's on a Lucky Crit Chance.
The relevant point here is in terms of rare vs unique amulets, rares are harder to justify anointing since they're (relatively) fungible with one another and therefore might be replaced more quickly.
After watching you vid i got myself the Tempest's Binding Callous Mask with +2 Socketed Trap and mine corruption and im Loven it! thanks for the suggestion.
Just a note - Choir of The Storm doesn't have 2500 dps base, the wiki goes to level 30 and you used that one I think? The amulet gives level 20 which is an average damage of 1,104.5. Still a great item just want to avoid some people PoBing higher numbers than they'll get :) Great video, really like these
Waaaait a second, what about 1. Lori's lantern ring (cheap placeholder for low life builds to fix elemental and chaos res) 2. Nycta's lantern (leveling up with firestorm or armageddon brand) 3. Atziri's foible amulet (tons of mana, reduced attribute requirements for leveling) 4. Chains of command (pseudo 7-link chest with 1-5c cost for the ultimate 0-button 0iq build in the entire game)
Fuck the haters yo I love this shit. There was a time I knew every unique in the game. Since then the number of uniques has probably tripled. It's like impossible to keep track of them all these days. I love having something to keep me up to date on ones I've forgotten about or never heard of in the first place.
The crab chest is even worse if you consider it can't drop from the source that drop most of the 6links on the market Of course that might just be a fluke of metamorph, but in the recent leagues there were also mechanics that drop 6links
Craiceann's Carapace Golden Plate: "Around 20c for bad rolls..." yeah... not in Hardcore, the cheapest one at end of league around 150c I bought mine for 600c ^^; It's not an underrated unique in hardcore :P
nice video but if there is a next video would you mind to add timestamps in the description? would help us out not having to skip through video if 1 item isn't interesting for you
@@ArawnOfAnnwn Fireball explodes on impact, dealing AoE damage. Multiple fireballs can deal overlapping AoE damage, meaning a tightly knit pack of enemies can get wiped out pretty easily.
@@TheTolnoc Yeah but you can achieve that by just getting multiple projectiles, which is available from a variety of sources. Fury Valve changes the behavior of those additional projectiles though, so I was wondering if that unique effect was important here, not just the added proj.
@@ArawnOfAnnwn The added projectiles at no damage penalty are nice, but it also causes the projectiles that split to auto target in a similar way to Chain, meaning extra fireballs can target nearby packs as well. Plus, Forks happen before the Split, so you can double your projectiles without a damage loss with a Fork gem.
Uhm, dual shimmermon + incandescent heart + Divine flesh. I'm seriously looking at this for next league. Trickster, lgoh forget leech, storm burst, htv, wta, swift killer, and patient reaper for skill effect duration and reduced damage taken from dots (shimmermon). All I need then is physical damage reduction, and where could I get that? Oh, crab ... Just have to build around it. Don't get hit. Let's see, 7 power charges for 28% spell block and I think 13 on the tree, so you are at like 40% spell block. Just let attack block be what it is. Probably ends up being 40%. Crab stacks really fast. But with my current trickster, 50% spell dodge, and passive evasion with blind works fantastic. Maybe if I get hit too much, use the crab helmet, and oh it has more block too. I mean, that's some defense. If I didn't already make a storm burst character this league, I would do this right now.
I don't think Skin o the Loyal is underrated because good colours are expensive like 4B 1G 1R that fits a lot of spell builds - www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Metamorph/LJprQ7Sn Searing Touch is pretty well known too afaik. A lot of ignite builds use it, it's just that there are not many of ignite builds out there. Voidforge isn't underrated either. It's just 2-handed weapon so it's slower to leap slam with and you need a lot of flat phys to make it work as well as probably playing Inquisitor. Marylene's fallacy is clearly not underrated either. It's just that most builds don't get enough crit chane to get advantage of it, but Delve builds love it. Overall a lot of these items are not underrated, just niche. I come to realise that I basically nitpick on word usage. >_> Shimmeron is too rippy, specially in 3.9 when monsters and map mods are way more deadlier just on their own without your own items hindering you. I would really like you to continue the series, it's really interesting. :)
don't use hyaon's fury guys. I think it is ok league starter, but low attack speed low base crit is impossible to comeby. You want pen, you want attack speed(starting very low so scalling very poorly, wich sucks even for mapping decently), you definitely want crit too. It got even implicitely nerfed by the addition of awakened added damage gems as these benefit a lot from attack speed obviously...
Its pob abuse, he uses Ivory tower which gives ES per reserved life and just adds as many 50% auras linked with blood magic as there are sockets. Stack some strenght on the tree and with shaper's touch you get all the %es you need. Its not actually a build, as you wouldn't be able to reserve 20+ wrath auras linked with blood magic while having double essence worm.
If you haven't yet seen the first episode in this series, check it out here: ruclips.net/video/WaE66zscJsI/видео.html

I've been telling people that Marylene's Fallacy is an assassin's best friend for YEARS.
Please dont stop these videos. Could you also do Underrated and Interesting SKILL/SUPPORT gems too?
Great idea, I have seen some supports and skills that look cool and niche, but I have no clue how to use them in a build.
Assuming impale doesn't see bad nerfs, I imagine this is a good starter for people to consider.
pastebin.com/Yse6iqTm
You'll be able to see it early league - rn everyone has either switcher into rapiers w/ saviour, rapier with the surrender or double axes. The POB is roughly what I saw and I haven't included anything beyond the two swords.
Thanks for the shout-out :) I used malachais artifice on 2 of my builds aswell this league so I can definetely agree that those items are incredibly powerful and underrated :)

18:10 If u use Craiceann's Chitin, you can't lose Crab Barriers if u were hit recently...
Yeah. I've used this combo with both helmet and boots before and it's kinda disgusting how tanky you'll get. Had an EQ Pathfinder with the combo in Legion and it barely ever died even with ONLY 5.3k hp.

Yeah it's kinda stupid. Have used it on SR Trickster and now on Manastorm/ Ivory Tower CoC Assassin. It's a loooot of dps.

Thanks for the part 2 Nathan
Thank you for watching!
Great video series!
Its nice to see someone putting some of the less used ones into the spotlight :)
I myself used Perepiteia last league since the Lightning Aegis really helps u avoid alot of damage.
with so many unique in PoE, please keep the series alive. Keep up the great work.
Great video once again. Really enjoyed hearing your perspective on some uniques that I’ve never considered using. Still hoping to see a video on uniques that you believe are over-valued!
is this something to scoff at?: Y̶e̶s̶ No
Hey, Nathan, thanks to you i got my first HH ever. Thank you for the stuff you do!
Congrats on the achievement 😁
Great video. Another important downside of Malachai's Artifice is that you can't use heralds of your main element, as that would add to whatever spell or attack you use to proc the EE on the Malachai gem.
This is why people usually run golem in the ring, need to be careful with auras though
Love this series, I started playing poe not to long ago and most of these unique I'm seeing for the first time, so it's super cool to see
And now please do this series for Noteworthy Rare Mod Combos, Stuff like ilvl1 Bows for casters, Gem Level Slamming on Bows, Unique modifier Combinations using Awakeners Orb.
Malachais is just so good, I throw one on Everytime I go ssf since it drops every time

Yes to the sequel. Loving this
Used hyaon’s on a smite raider before I had enough cash to multimod a foil, it was good
The first ever build that I put together a PoB for was also with the full crab set lol. I have yet to play it though. The PoB damage is kinda bad but I have 2 rares in the build so I can't get more somewhere else, at least I am playing with the # of uniques that GGG wants in builds.

Marylene's Fallacy is a great option for Ice Spear build, if you want to go full hipster mode and use both no-meta skill and item
I cleared t15 maps with hyaons fury raider static strike in 3.8 at essentially the speed of leap slam, whole char had a budget of under 1ex. Don't think it'll work well anymore due to the big late game monster ehp buffs in 3.9.
I used Choir of the Storm on my arc witch build... Made my dps a lot higher and I might use it again.
Lori's Lantern still omitted, sad times.
"Easily annointable amulet" They're all equally annointable (assuming non-corrupted).
I think mistwall is another underrated item, offers great defensive layer and movement speed.
Just a note - Choir of The Storm doesn't have 2500 dps base, the wiki goes to level 30 and you used that one I think? The amulet gives level 20 which is an average damage of 1,104.5. Still a great item just want to avoid some people PoBing higher numbers than they'll get :) Great video, really like these
Thank you for this comment. I will edit my pinned comment to let people know I made an error. Sorry!
Shimmeron is great for a Discharge build... as Jousis proved.
Waaaait a second, what about
1. Lori's lantern ring (cheap placeholder for low life builds to fix elemental and chaos res)
2. Nycta's lantern (leveling up with firestorm or armageddon brand)
3. Atziri's foible amulet (tons of mana, reduced attribute requirements for leveling)
4. Chains of command (pseudo 7-link chest with 1-5c cost for the ultimate 0-button 0iq build in the entire game)
good stuff nathan..waiting for the next episode
No crit damage for Kongor, why not bleed earthquake ?
Fuck the haters yo I love this shit. There was a time I knew every unique in the game. Since then the number of uniques has probably tripled. It's like impossible to keep track of them all these days. I love having something to keep me up to date on ones I've forgotten about or never heard of in the first place.
What about Pillar of the Caged God for the next video? 1chaos each, and I've seen strength stacking builds using it to good effect.
The crab chest is even worse if you consider it can't drop from the source that drop most of the 6links on the market
Of course that might just be a fluke of metamorph, but in the recent leagues there were also mechanics that drop 6links
now I have a well-rolled perepiteia with +2 on socked ae gems on my mana guardian. with a bricked empower that's a level 28 smite. sweet!
Craiceann's Carapace Golden Plate:
"Around 20c for bad rolls..." yeah... not in Hardcore, the cheapest one at end of league around 150c I bought mine for 600c ^^;
It's not an underrated unique in hardcore :P
Does the reduced lightning damage taken on perepitia mitigate the self damage on shimmeron?
Ek nova with surgebinders and victarios acuity was my favourite build a few years ago. Nobody uses those 2
Does that amulet drop the lightning bolt on Spell Crit? If it does, it'd be interesting to try a Cremation build to keep it proccing constantly.
It does but as Nathan mentioned it has a cooldown (3 sec i think). Could be cool with a bunch of cooldown reduction
Kongor's undying rage + perfect agony... sleeper op condition application.
I might try that out.
This type of video is awesome. Keep them coming. Maybe for skills too?
skin of the loyal was insane for my hoag mana guardian, gave me so much armor.
nice video but if there is a next video would you mind to add timestamps in the description? would help us out not having to skip through video if 1 item isn't interesting for you
Searing touch better than martyr of innocence for ignites?
After your first vid started Hrimburn Debeon ignite build)
Already at almost 1mil ignite dps on 2 ex budget
You know, I was wondering what to use for my Fireball Fury Valve build for a main weapon, thanks for reminding me that Searing Touch exists.
Out of curiosity, why would you want to use Fury Valve with Fireball? Thought it only worked really well with Lancing Steel...
@@TheTolnoc Ah cool. Thanks for the insight.
Great videos man
The searing touch would be good for my fire trap build(?)
I still use Shimmeron in an Arc totem Heirophant build still.
i love craiceanns carapace so fuckin much
No uncapped, capped res for choir of the storm.
Can you write your pc setup ? processor etc. ?
I had a perfect roll Kongor's in Legion and I couldn't even sell it for 120c.
Oh hey, I'm in the video!
great video I learned a lot. keep up the good work :D
don't use hyaon's fury guys.
'Peripeteia' means adventure in Greek
One of the most underrated uniques i know is The Three Dragons. Want to play Arctic Brand?
Haters gonna hate. They didn't have to watch your video but they still contributed to your views :)
What, you cant get any good corrupt on warstaves, not to mention the fact that supported by inspiration is not obtainable XD
The gull works with dual ichimonji
The reason why the feedbacks are mixed is probably because of this kind of videos these uniques will become more expensive. :P
these vids are great thanks!
Where's trypanon? :p
Where can i find your coc arc build?
It's a build diary from last league, just look back through my videos, should be about 3 months old!
@@nathanbrotherbob Cool ty will do
You never go full force
Peripetia translates to adventure. It is Greek.
New game take a shot when He says niche
Wait a second, this isn't Wolcen ? What's going on
Can someone explain how in the balls theres a guy on poe ninja that has 944,000 energy shield?
Its pob abuse, he uses Ivory tower which gives ES per reserved life and just adds as many 50% auras linked with blood magic as there are sockets. Stack some strenght on the tree and with shaper's touch you get all the %es you need.
Its not actually a build, as you wouldn't be able to reserve 20+ wrath auras linked with blood magic while having double essence worm.
MMprisM id like to make an aurabot with that much es lol
