      You need a decent healthcare service in America, it's the most expensive by far(costs approx x10 than other countries for many reasons, including expensive greedy lawyers), and has the lowest quality of care per capita of the population.
      The rich will be OK regardless of the National systems.
      There needs to be Some National Systems for ANYTHING needed for a society to progress Humanly, and Scientifically to enhance everyone's Life with new discoveries.
      Children should be given medical care regardless of the parent's wealth, .....I am depressed and actually
      SHOCKED that i have to write that down! Also other things should be taken care of like education, housing, transport, basic food, water, communication. The USA has enough wealth to change their public spending drastically. Drop down economics don't work, neither does austerity.

    Rent out here in Colorado essentially starts at 2,500 a month. We have so many rich hippy-types moving in and absorbing all of the lower-range housing that would normally be affordable. It's getting to the point where a run down, bug ridden apartment with a hole in the floor for a toilet is being sold as a "luxury mountain-adjacent housing for 4,600 a month."

      There's a word for that: Gentrification. It's great for people who own property in the district, because they see their property shoot up in value - but it's terrible for people who rent their home, as they just see their rent increase. Not just rent, but local prices too, as stores adjust their pricing to reflect the influx of people with more income who will pay more for the convenience of not having to travel far.

I know people who own apartments in denver who can't even tell you what the capital of Colorado is. Come on. Otto is a fairly common though a bit outdated German name, like Hans or Heinrich. At its height, the SS had 260k personnel. Give me a traditional male German name and I can find a Nazi with that same name. Its a bit like saying the name John is connected to slavery, because there was a man named John who owned slaves, ffs.
    The most famous German named Otto is probably Otto von Bismarck, who was the Chancellor of the German Empire under Kaiser Wilhelm I (and a bit under Wilhelm II). Died before Hitler taking power. The second most famous German Otto is a Frisian comedian who was born way after WWII. No third comes readily to mind. There is nothing connecting the name Otto specifically to Nazis.
    Not defending Dennis Prager, that guy's a reactionary idiot. But not everything German is immediately connectable to Nazism. Unless your only knowledge of Germans comes from watching Indiana Jones movies...

    • @anthonyaurel6001
      @anthonyaurel6001 5 лет назад +5

      Just for fun the third Otto that comes to mind is Otto the founder of HRE. Adolf was surely big fan of his (as pretty much any German nationalist) so that is probably where the Nazis come in play and maybe Adolf's brother name was Otto (he died in infancy). Although I also hate the German Nazi stereotypes and I am not even German.

    • @Nerobyrne
      @Nerobyrne 5 лет назад +7

      @Hans Hanzo Yeah that was a pretty bad comment. One has to remember that Nazi Germany wasn't a nation that built itself up over thousands of years, it was a dictatorial coup which got out of hand. WAY out of hand.
      But it was only 11 years, so you can't expect the culture to transform a lot. I really don't think there is such a thing as "nazi names", aside from probably Adolf.
      If you named your kid Adolf after 1945, that's pretty bad.
      But even "Heinrich" and "Josef" aren't stigmatized at all, and those where probably the two most famous nazis next to Adolf.

I know several people who, as kids, had no regular and expectable meal but the one meal they ate at school. They were miserable in the morning, got bad grades in the morning classes, were usually very low-energy despite literally being children who are SUPPOSED TO BE HYPER AND ANNOYING, they were clearly just not getting enough food and severely suffering for it. My school later started serving breakfast and you know what happened for those kids? They got better grades, they had more energy, they were nicer, they stopped looking like zombies all the time. There was a study done with farmers in india. Half the year they were poor waiting on the harvest and the other half they were considerably more wealthy. They gave them iq test both before and after the harvest and they found that they scored a lot higher after the crop came in. Poverty weighs on your mind. It causes you to only think maybe a day in advance. How am i gonna get dinner tomorrow. Or the lights are past due. These thoughts eat you up. So its not that poor people (myself included) are dumb. It's just that they have less capacity for more fruitful thoughts in the midst of the poverty.

  • @blankslate7315

    Poverty reduces freedom quite substantially and being rich increases freedom quite substantially so I don’t think Dennis has fully thought through the idea of being “poor and free vs. being rich and unfree.” Also Dennis doesn’t value liberty, he wants everyone to conform to the same right wing standards that he has in mind for himself. I don’t think he supports freedom for the lgbt community or the freedom to smoke weed or all kinds of other freedoms. Also rich man Dennis Prager has been taken care of by everyone else around him for his entire life, he clearly loves comfort and being taken care of and he’s perfectly fine with it when it benefits him, but not when it benefits groups that he dislikes and not when it benefits society in general. The state provides him with the infrastructure that he needs to live comfortably such as roads and schools that teach people how to be doctors for when he needs medical care and the working class that performs the labour required to keep him alive such as building his house, making his things, his bed, his shower, his car, all of the stuff that he has and growing the food and bringing him the clean water that he needs to live and he’s just fucking fine with that, but if it helps anyone else his response to that is “fuck you.” This is clearly not a way to structure a functioning society, but Dennis doesn’t care because he benefits from this (and he’s one of the few that actually benefits) at the expense of almost everyone else.

    As people become poorer, they are more likely to join gangs in order to have some kind of support structure.
    Gangs are very violent, that's where most of the violent crime comes from.
    So it's less poverty directly, it's more that governmental collapse causes poverty, and the resulting poverty causes people to seek out alternative power structures to integrate into.
    You can see this right now, as the US gov't collapses, more and more gang violence happens.

    • @Mangocatz1

      Landlines are point less now. Cellphones are cheaper when on a plan and pay as you go is more expensive in the long run also internet is unlimited info and entertainment and relativity cheap compared to bundling it with unnecessary things like a landlines or T.V especially when you could pirate everything.

    • @PatheticApathetic

      living letters local tv is free, so there’s no “building” internet. It’s not a necessity, so poor folks aren’t going to waste the precious little they have on it. Pay as you go may be more expensive in the long term, but poor folks can’t afford to think long term, and only using their cell phone when they absolutely have to and only paying for it when they do is cheaper right now than being obligated to pay a certain amount of money per month.
      My point is things like internet and cell phones are luxuries, and they’re the first thing Jake budgeted for. They would be the last thing on a poor person’s mind

Both physically and emotionally, to the point of Major Depressive Disorder. I'm still on the lower class. I have committed crimes before, and I will do it still. Pirating games, for example.
