Exploring Washington State Park in De Soto, Missouri: June 2024

Located off of Missouri Route 21 about 55 miles South of St. Louis in Washington County, this is the only state park in Missouri built by an African American CCC company.

The old building by the trailhead was a shower house. My wife and I camped there a little over 10 years ago. Back then, the old shower house wasn't boarded up. It looked like a scene from a horror movie in there... Friday the 13th

It’s not in DeSoto. It’s in Blackwell, Mo. I know this because the park is across the road from me.

When you google Washington State Park it says it's in DeSoto.

This is NOT DeSoto Missouri, although Desoto IS the last town you go through if heading south on HWY 21 to this park..... Blackwell Missouri is what the mailing address would be.... and it's in Washington County when DeSoto is up in Jefferson County... I lived 2 miles south of this park for 12 years.... It's a nice place... Or was... Haven't been down that way in awhile.

U missed the cave, from the last over look (ur were pretty much on top of it) go left on the trail.. like 100 feet or so it'll split go to the right. Ull see it
