why are Christians occupying in israel? My understanding is that Christ said that one don’t need to be in Jerusalem to worship the father in heaven, so shouldn’t the Christian churches, as a people and all one in Christ get out of Israel and Jerusalem in participation of bringing peace to the holy land and the world? It is clear that the occupation of Christians on the holy land is causing more fire on the land just by being there and it is a duty of Christianity to promote peace not only for Jerusalem but also to the world and if being there is not bringing peace why not leave Jerusalem to help the process of peace on the holy land? I believe it is wiser to seek peace then to seek recognition.
Christ clearly said you don’t need to be in Jerusalem to worship the father.

It is the most sad thing to see such thing between the two orthodox church who share almost every thing. But let me ask you our Father in Ethiopian orthodox church and Coptic orthodox church; why not let it be judge by the truth, why not we ask God the almighty to Judge to whom it belongs through praying. For that matter "Is that the Ethiopian orthodox belongs to Copt in the same way the Copt belongs to the Ethiopian orthodox?". It is sad to see between two sister church's this things. May God will judge the truth that give every one to be free. Amen!!! ...... Pray for us our father.

That monastery was established and built with the gifts of the Ethiopian Emperors and Empress along with other Churches and Monasteries. It is a simplification for us and sister Churches to say that this monastery is Coptic based on court decisions. This is a sad situation indeed.

The Coptic monastery of the Sultan of Jerusalem dates from the reign of Sultan Abed al-Malik Ibn Marwan 684-705 A.D. Which he gave it to the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church and as a result it was named Deir al-Sultan. Deir el sultan belongs to the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate in Alexandria. Around the 7th century, the Ethiopians asked the Egyptian Coptic church if they could stay at the monastery until they find another place. Because the property of their church was transferred to the Roman and Armenian churches in 1654, it occurred because the Ethiopians could not pay their taxes.
The Egyptian Copt church welcomed the Ethiopians as guests on October 17, 1820. The Egyptian Coptic church asked all Egyptian monks and Ethiopian monks to leave the monastery until the construction was completed. In November 1850, the Ethiopians searched for the key to Deir el sultan. But it was returned to the Egyptian Copts according to official records of the Ottoman Empire on February 3, 1851. The Ethiopian people have again tried to steal the key from the Egyptian people, but was returned to the Egyptians according to an official record of the Ottoman Empire on March 9, 1863. In 1888, the Egyptians refurbished one of the deir el sultan churches with the official permission of the Jerusalem municipality. The Ethiopian people tried to prevent the Egyptians from completing the renovations. The Egyptians completed a legal action on December 2, 1891. The Ottoman sultan decided on January 8, 1894 that the Egyptians had the right of ownership of deir el Sultan, telling the Ethiopians to stay away from the Egyptian monastery. In 1906, the Ethiopians asked to renovate the monastery as a first step to take away the monastery from the Egyptians. In 1910, Jerusalem officials told the Ethiopians that the deir el sultan was Egyptian. In 1945 one of the Ethiopian monks painted one of the rooms during the British mandate. The government told the Ethiopian monks that they could not paint the monastery since it did not belong to them. In February 1959, the Ethiopians misled the Jordanian administrator of Jerusalem, convincing him of their right to deir el Sultan. The Jordanian government forcibly gave the Ethiopian people deir el sultan on February 22, 1961. The Patriarch, Pope Cyril VI, has sent letters to the Archbishops to meet with his Majesty, the King of Jordan. The Egyptian archbishops have provided the king of Jordan with documentation proving that the church belongs to the Egyptians. His Majesty published a letter on April 1, 1961 to prevent the Ethiopians from entering the monastery until he had a final decision and to show further evidence provided.
On February 22, 1961, the King of Jordan told the Ethiopians that the monastery belonged to the Egyptian people and that they must give it back. On April 25, 1970, the Israeli government sent the army to change the locks of the monastery and hand over the new key to the Ethiopian people. But all I can say is that Ethiopians are terrible people for stealing from Egyptian Christians who are so kind. Btw the word deir is an Arabic name for monastery 😂

What must also be recognized is that Israel have the record of the true history of all these ancient properties and buildings and churches and monasteries and religious sites. They know all. And as Ethiopia was the only country in the world beside Israel recognized as having the true faith of GOD 1000 years before receiving Christianity, Ethiopian presence in Jerusalem was always, way before the Egyptians for they never forgot the bondage. And so Israel and Ethiopia have long lasting historical religious ties. So they know. This whole situation is sad and the whole informations need to be known. The relationship between the Coptic and the Ethiopian Churches has had it difficulties for centuries and it seems that it is continuing unfortunately. Since the passing of our two Holy saints, HIs Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie and Pope Kyrillos VI, the relationship became worse. With the breaking of canon law as relates to the encroachment in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Archdiocese of the Caribbean and Latin America in 1991, to the autocephaly granted to the Eritrean Orthodox Church in 1993 (similar to what is happening between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ukraine Orthodox Church through the Patriarch of Constantinople), the issue of the Nile River and many other issues. Good faith has been lost for a while it seems, and clearly the Ethiopians has had enough. Note, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church has never done anything to it’s sister and mother, but they can not say the same of their sister and mother. This is the real issue.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church knows what the identity of that monastery was before it changed through the type of iconography which were there before 1820.

This is a matter almost like when Egypt wanted to control the Lake Tana and the flow of the Blue Nile. There are even other situations within Egypt itself, especially in Aswan as to marginalization, where one can inquire as why the Copts are endeavoring to move in this manner as relates to their true ancestors and past identity. I wish not to challenge anything here, just that I observe things. It’s like my great grand father built a house which we have lived in for centuries, then cousin wants me out based on a court decision. Then tells me it is the law. But we are suppose to me Christian brothers and sisters. Sigh. Knowing one’s history is key to preserve the reality of the situation. Yet my GOD bless our spiritual leaders HH Pope Tawadaros II and HH Patriarchs Mercerios and Matthias (former Archbishop of Jerusalem of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church)

    Too dramatic!
This speech reveals how much the contemporary church fathers are too far to the teachings of the saviour Iesous Kirstos.

The lord our GOD rebuke you. Many of you will say lord lord my God my God, haven’t we served and cast out demons haven’t we made many miracles in your name and he will respond to you away you evildoers you don’t know me and I don’t know you. How dare you even build a church in the name the of the angel on the Holy land? It’s an abomination like all the other abominations on the land and all abominations will be destroyed. For you don’t know the angel how can you make an image of him or of anything of GOD. The lord rebuke you. Repent. Salvation is of the Jews- was, is and will always be.

Mikhael I'm assuming that you're a Jew. Go back and read the Old Testament and see how many times God was disgusted with the Jews for being sooooo unbelieving. After all God has shown them, they kept turning their back on God. He said it many timed, if you turn your back on me, I'll turn my back on you. God gave them many many warnings, but they didn't obey. When I read the Old Testament, I wept. God came down to save you and you crucified Him. Since you didn't honer your side of the agreement, God chose a new Israel, all who believe in Jesus Christ. Take your head out of the sand and read the word of God. May The Grace of God enlighten, Sanctify and save all who truly search for the one Holy truth.☦️

why is it bad to name a monastery after the Archangel? The church is for God but is it wrong we name churches after saints? You are probably Jewish
