Well, at least we got the New York theme with the final "The Edge Of Glory" video, the mermaid theme with the "You and I" mv, and the hospital theme with the "Marry The Night" music video. 😅
True true, maybe things didn't go as planned but we did ended up getting the concept later on Omg, yess I was gonna mention about Marry the Night having the hospital in the beginning which probably was part of edge of glory original mv, just set up differently for Marry the Night
I loved the released video from the beginning. I feel like she definitely made the right call that video is iconic
It is a full circle moment which I liked bc it is important to be present and enjoy each moment and have those memories

nah, the video is awful, you can even see the ceiling from the studio. Gaga f up the video, I'm a fan but this was during the time when she was very cocky about her fame. She was young so that's natural, nobody is perfect @@kevinmcgrath415
A friend worked on the original video but signed a NDA - I will say from what I saw the mermaid tails she was going to use were amazing. The set was beautiful and the concept was going to be amazing. Sad it didn’t come to fruition.

Maybe the original mv of edge of glory (with the teal wig, passing out, hospital set up) would continue with marry the night mv where she is being wheeled to an asylum, and the yuyi is just a character she made up.
If thats the case i love that the og vm was scrap. Because I love the message of the song and what the released mv represents.

Yea, the video wasn't what I expected either after Born This Way but its understandable since things do happen, its definitely a grower and i loved the lightening for the video but I'm glad we still got a mermaid concept for you & I
look up Grizzle Marry the Night. Its basically a shot by shot of the video but with someone in a sh*tty Grimace costume lol
I like the simplicity of the released video. It didn't need anything more; it was an honest performance of the song.
It was an honest moment, also a good reminder to be in the present and enjoy it to the fullest bc time is something we can't get back

The Edge of Glory music video is one of the simplest videos by Lady Gaga, and didn't make waves like her previous videos. But it still helped promoting the song and taking it to the next level.
I wish Lady Gaga had kept this mindset when she was promoting Artpop because we know how much work she put into making a video for Do What U Want and ended up not releasing anything because she was not satisfied. That was one of the biggest mistakes of her career if not the biggest after not making a video for Sour Candy. That song was starting to be on radios a lot, people loved it, we were all ready for the video for the song to truly become a big hit and it would have been 200%. But instead of shooting a simpler music video like she did for The Edge of Glory, she scrapped everything and the song hype died.
The same would have happened to The Edge of Glory without that reshoot video.
That truly was how Artpop ended up dying too because she focused everything on G.U.Y video even though the song never got as much hype as Do What U Want. Don't get me wrong I love G.U.Y and the video gave me life, but it seems like after that her will to promote the album dried off.
Artpop was a really dark period for lady gaga alot was going on behind the scenes professional & personal, so it's understandable why things ended up the way it did. As for sour candy not sure if it was going to be a single but we were in lockdown bc of covid so the plans she had for the chromatica era had to be canceled, I think rain on me was filmed a month before lockdown happened that's why that video was released
@@Playlist_Pop I appreciate your answer thanks. Personally I don't think that what happened to the promotions of Artpop is excusable no matter what the circumstances. It was easy to grab the public for Lady Gaga at this time, she overcomplicated this era and ended up giving up while all she had to do was to make any kind of videos for her singles to get to the mainstream audience and they gave everything up.
In a time were success was waiting at the door of Lady Gaga, they choose to say "we're not ready" and did not respond. They did bad choices. If they were not ready they shouldn't have started it. Lady Gaga has all of the means and did not use them.
For Sour Candy, this is a strange excuse considering how huge the business of music videos was during the lockdown. So many music videos were filmed and came out, even movies were made so again, not an excuse.
People were ready to wait for a year or more for the video that's how anticipated it was. In fact, I'm still waiting I have not lost hope.
Scrapped or not, Edge of glory is still her best song
It's amazing, definitely a timeless classic
This era will always be one of her best just the whole concept of every video

I’m close to someone who worked in various projects with khan, including those with Gaga. Apparently their “creative differences” started back in the set of “Love Game” when Khan would only eye roll to Gaga’s ideas and in “Edge of Glory” Gaga just had enough of him and retaliated by firing him in the spot.
I had no idea, I just assumed this was during born this way era I didn't know their creative differences started since love game, now I can understand why things ended the way they did, thanks for sharing this
To be fair, I'm sure she deserved several eye rolls because as a young artist who just got int he game, she had no idea of the complexities, cost, logistics etc of doing a music video. She has extreme ideas and the label probably was tight on the budget and he knew it couldn't really be accomplished. I love her but she does strike me as a try hard at times and someone who thinks she always knows best. Its rude to hire a well known professional and then want to change things last minute or ignore their professional input and advice.
@@justinwilliams7290 I agree everything you said about Gaga, she can come up as pretentious. But In that sense, before submitting a concept for a video that is being commissioned, as a director, you have to make sure your idea can be conceived with the budget pre stablished, before sealing the deal. I think the difference is Gaga is more “artistic” when it comes to her work, while Khan is just more like: place your order and pickup your burger in the next window.

It sounds like some of the conceptual ideas might have been reused in the DWUW video.
How so? I do remember her VMAs applause performance where she dressed as a mermaid at the end and even parts of artpop she had that same look

@@Playlist_Pop Well, I was more thinking on the lines of her being in a medical setting throughout the DWUW video. It’s an idea which she keeps revisiting, such as in the Marry the night video and 911.

i feel like another reason that may’ve lead to the original video getting scrapped is because gaga didn’t wanna make the same mistakes she felt she made with telephone. i know she thinks telephone has a messy video and there were too many concepts all mixed together that she could’ve edited down better, and that seems to have happened here with the original TEOG video; mermaids going to You and I and hospital going to Marry the Night
I knew lady gaga doesn't like the song telephone but I never thought of her maybe thinking the video was messy, but yea that could be too since the ideas she had for teog was split into the two other mvs

that is true, sure it may not be exactly what was originally planned for edge of glory but it still came out great in both videos

I haven't heard about that, I'll add it to the list, I'm still unsure when I'll do another gaga video since I already started working on other videos but I'll keep the idea in mind for the future

it is a shame, a mermaid theme video for edge of glory didnt happen, but i understand things happen, sure the edge of glory mv may not be my favorite but i do love the meaning behinde it, bc its one of lady gaga moments when she was present and celebrating her accomplishments

WHAT? lol She made Marry the Night, and You and I after this. The artpop era wasn't that bad either. I stopped caring after Artpop though. She is 100 percent not the same person anymore. She's not that interesting or artistic anymore. The the end of the early 2000s and first half of the decade of the 2010s was lightning in a bottle, not to be repeated.
Your voice is very flat, which just gives the vibe of lazy reading, just a piece of advice improve your tone of voice, great video tho.

What concept would you have given the edge of glory mv?
I also hated it at first. I'm critical of how she likely behaved on set because I can see her being extremely melodramatic and pretentious. That being said, its a wonderful video looking back and tbf I LOVED thje live performance she did (I think at Much Music) where she was on the fire escape live...really high up, standing on the rails, without a harness or anything.
