    The subtitle stating this isn't an exact replica is a disclaimer the layout doesn't need. All it's missing is a stray hereford chewing his cud. The realism is incredible and this Texas boy felt right at home. What a wonderful escape. Thanks.

      Could not agree more. Stunning. I found my target - anywhere close and I will have far exceeded my wildest hopes for any layout I could build.

    Wow! We used to come through La Grange traveling from Corpus when I was a kid. Your modeling of the DQ area is so real I did a double take just now, thought I was looking at a photo of the city. I love the Hwy 77 descent to the river. It was like a foreign country to a coastal kid. We stopped on the square one Christmas and a fireman let me turn on the city Christmas lights. Fun memories there.

    impeccable - even preternaturally realistic - scenery and detailing.
    real artistry on display here.
    looks like photographs of an "idealized" real world - where everything was kept immaculately clean.
    damn. this beats even the world-famous Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg Germany.
    as awesomely detailed as that showcase is - its scenes would never be mistaken for photos of reality.

    Well, there are a lot of railway crossings, in Europe we try to build viaducts, either for train or for cars. I'm not sure if my patience would be enough waiting for a hundred car oil tank train at a railway crossing..

    wow, nicely done! thats pretty darn close to our small town of La Grange, TX!! empty coal must be taking a scenic route haha. usually they run the opposite direction unless something else is going on that direction....haha. no dis intended just making a comment. we see about 4 loads and empties per week. can only hold 2 at a time in the plant... 124 cars takes about 10-12 hours to dump.... so if i see a load go through say at midnight ill probably see it about 1 or 2 in the afternoon....

    • @summitmodeltrainvideos4440
      @summitmodeltrainvideos4440  7 лет назад

      I know the coal trains run in the opposite direction - it is the artistic fredom you have when modeling. It was not possible to run in the correct direction and still fit with the rest of the layout plan.

  • @iceeking2006

    Realistic town and a very nicely done clip. Thank you for the post. You think you can do another cabride clip of the whole layout including the new sections soon? Also, besides the Texas Eagle, what other passenger trains do you run? Do you run detour passenger trains like the Sunset Limited and Southwest Chief? Thumbs up!

    I see someone commented about your McDonalds. I'd like to have one also. Secondly, I really like your deciduous trees. Their trunks are a great diameter. If you make your own, what do you use for armatures?

    Fantastic layout. The detailing and just the 'atmosphere' convey so much. Well done to the builder. How big is the layout? It looks huge!

    • @summitmodeltrainvideos4440
      @summitmodeltrainvideos4440  7 лет назад

      Thank you for your kind comments. The layout is in a 1200 sq.ft. room, 45' long and between 22 and 30' wide. You can see the trackplan in 2015 Layout presentation video.

  • @GMTX-kg8ep

    The Dairy Queen sign is so accurate. I saw most of the layout on Google maps. That’s a scratch built sign isn’t it. You can put out a Dairy Queen kit there! I like Walthers but, when it comes to real life brands and modern restaurants, you’re the guy to come to. I plan to purchase some things from your site as well. Waffle House, KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut (maybe), Dominos Pizza (maybe).
