I was thinking the same thing. He's the only one that seems to have done his homework and understands the asset class to the point of offering a much needed counterpoint.
Joe lacks basic understanding of crypto and fails regularly as a journalist by interrupting guests, thereby making the interviews chaotic and less productive. However, some viewers enjoy chaos and unprofessional behavior by a journalist = why CNBC keeps Joe on the payroll.

Two mining pools, Antpool and Foundry together own 53.4% of the global hashing power for Bitcoin - enough to initiate a fork / 51% attack. On that basis alone, bitcoin is indeed not decentralised. Bitcoins hashing power is in fact centralised within a small number of mining pools.

He's right btw, finance does tend toward centralization since antiquity. Coincidentally, humanity hasn't had a truly decentralized money in all of its history until it was discovered in 2009.

So Gensler says, the Bitcoin approval already existed.
With Bitcoin, there's no centralized entity to bring in for questioning and no name to put on a lawsuit. The creators of Bitcoin saw government schills like Gensler coming when they made the white paper 12 years ago.
He was speaking of it excising in an organic way among the public. Not that it was approved by his department.

Joe was really great. Smart, educated and a well versed reporter. Sorkin is garbage and we already know Gensler is a lying manipulative wheel. I hope CNBC seriously looks at these comments and understand we come and watch for Joe. If Sorkin were removed, we'd all enjoy this content significantly more. Joe should be in charge of the interviewing and guiding questions - that is real, educated and leads to a great engaging conversation where the american people can understand the sides and make their own informed opinion. That is real journalism and the duty of the media.

I'm usually sceptical of CNBC but this guy was legitimate and I'm actually impressed, he even called out CNBC a little. I'm a fan of this guy now.

Chair Gensler staring into the headlights from 20.30, was worth the wait ..... sums up how the retail crypto investor has been "protected" by the SEC and how they have allowed the advancement of AI, supported by large tech to go largely unchecked because of innovation.

I use cryptocurrencies and I’m not a drug dealer and I don’t buy illicit materials with it. I also watched Many of Gensler’s MIT courses on the topic. I don’t think the public can afford to keep sitting on the sidelines about this.
very, very few non-criminals use crypto for anything......that's why we know non-fiat crypto will eventually be gone....it has no viable "use case", i,e., it has no valid reason to exist.

Joe Kernan really lowers the intellectual level of discussion here, every time his reactions have no scholarly standards, just simplistic ideology. No nuance for that reactionary idealogue. The poor co-hosts. Maria Bartiromo played the same flack role when she was on CNBC. Whereas many other hosts and analysts on this network are brilliant, but have to pretend Joe Kernan is a colleague to be taken seriously. Chains of gold they wear.
As much as he might hate it, Gary has done more to promote BTC by approving the etf and going after alt coins that are deemed securities. He is pretty much the MVP of bitcoin 🤣 , thank u Gary!!!

Gensler says how can you trust an oracle for pricing? Well when the US government cannot be trust to give honest data on unemployment and inflation, how can we trust them to not constantly depreciate what the poor and middle class have to work 40 hours/week to obtain ($$$)? For example they define unemployment SOLELY on people applying for unemployment benefits. That means if you are no longer eligible for benefits (6 months max), then you are not counted as unemployed.
the US government cannot be counted on to give inflation data either. They inflate the money supply (something we work hard to "obtain" by spending 8 hours/day at least and then they tax us 40% or more before we even see it, but that is another story), then give us data that exclude "volatile energy and other stuff". Well, just because energy costs go up, doesn't mean we can stop using energy. We will always feel inflation is higher than their data shows because their corrupt data system excludes whatever is "volatile" at the moment. But who can stop eating and using energy and housing because it is expensive?
They are the ones inflating and then they give us data that says inflation is lower (conveniently leaving out whatever they are causing to violently inflate).
