Leave a dummy OBD in place. Gives them something to plug into. If the OBD isn’t there they may rip the lower dash to bits looking for it. Reposition the OBD but leave a fake in place.
For the amount of times you use the ODB2 port (none) you may as well shove it high up into the wires. Theres a fat wire loom I stuck mine behind. The description of how to get the ODB out is excellent on this video. Also, if you take the fuse out for the ODB, it is dead. My fuse was behind the glove box. The glove box squeezes out same as this video shows for the OBD cover. My fuse is Fuse19 with the description "data link connector" If its going in a garage, ask if they will need the ODB. Put the fuse back if they do and pull the cable down until they finish. Also, I made a sticker on the drivers wing mirror which is very visible when retracted with the words "OBD port moved" Add a crook lock and you are a hell of a lot safer Dont forget, they cant open the doors while the alarm is going off. They cant find the ODB hanging through your window. Tick Tock, Tick Tock......
For anyone who has keyless entry of any sort, just store your keys in an unused microwave oven, when the door is closed. Not even industrial grade boosters will get past that. Any signal is confined inside :)
thats not how they're breaking into them buddy. They're just breaking the window and plugging a device into the OBD port, they're not copying the signal from the key fobs :)
Thanks for the reply, but I'm aware of the OBD hack. I've actually used your video to find out how to remove the OBD, haha! I installed a dummy one with a power source so it buys even more time. The comment was more directed more onto that one guy that was talking about how their car got stolen cos their key signal was boosted. It was my mistake by replying on the wrong area haha!
great video mate and I'm gonna get on with doing this to my fiesta st tomorrow.....I live in birmingham and your right there getting stolen daily, last week two were stolen in one night within a mile where i live.....10 seconds it took the one car to be stolen.
Great video mate. I'm not far from you either, West Brom. I've had 2 Fiesta ST's... 1st was a black ST2, 2nd is my current white ST3. I pick up my ST200 next week. Luckily I've not had mine stolen, but I will definitely be moving the OBD port on the ST200. Thanks for the heads up.
Hey bud such a shame hearing all these fiestas being stolen. Hear atleast one a day on ST page on facebook. I bought today a gear stick & hand brake lock as a deterent however never thought about moving the port! shall do that tomorrow for sure! Keep the vids up! :D
Good video Jack why dont dealers let buyers know about this my friend had her fiesta stolen off my drive never heard the alarm at all 4am in the morning they stole it smashed the window and off they went . Manufacturers should make it harder for thieves by putting it in an awkward place so they have to take more time to find it . Why do they need the OBD and why is it there . Disclock wheel cover is a good idea as well or a wheel lock. The police should be letting us know about this on radio and TV . My friend is heartbroken car only 1 year old she will never get the insurance to cover the money to get a replacement now these thieves are scum of the earth. Jack show more security methods as well . U tube should not show thieves how to take a car but let people like you know how to protect our cars. Thanks
My fiesta zetec s was nicked without touching the port.by scanning the key from my front door then bouncing the signal to the car.you can buy a pouch to keep the transponder in to block this.I also have the spare unit wrapped in tin foil and kept in a baccy tin
Hey Jack, another great video mate! I actually got the extension and dummy port last week and plan to fit them this weekend, just a quick question; Ford won't get funny about my warranty messing around with this will they? Maybe if they made the vehicles more secure we wouldn't need to do this!!
+Scotty D I know exactly what your saying buddy but unfortunately I'm not sure, I know a lot of manufacturers will just void the warranty on that certain part for example if you lower your car the suspension is void. But I'm not exactly sure about this unfortunately buddy!
Great video, you could relocate the obd port, and replace it with a dummy obd port, the robbers then, would spend minutes trying to steal your car, but would get nowhere as the obd port is not wired, then give up, just an idea.
that's my driveway dude, dont really have anywhere else since theres a car that doesnt move out of the garage because its my dads baby haha. i did it in the middle of the day as well when everyone should be at work haha. with it being dark by 4pm now makes more difficult too :(
+Cars&Co. No worries, it wasn't a big deal. I'm just thinking about ways to improve video "production". I assume you're new and trying to grow a channel so just spotting things that you can do to improve. =) I might try to start a channel in the near future, but like you said, it gets dark way too early and in my location, it's pretty much raining everyday. I'll see if I can get something going during spring.
get a disk lock to that way they may avoid putting your window through first plus also they may just break in your house Nick your keys if obd isn't there! nice vid though ta
To make it even more difficult, insert a blank OBD port back into the original socket with 12v attached to the data pins on the socket, so when the criminal attempts to connect to the OBD port, it fries their unlocking gadget! 👍🏻
Picking up my car next week and cant say want to do this but feel like I need to :( Think ill also get a stearing wheel lock just to piss them off more..
Might be worth spending some more time taking the trim off and hiding the old one better also if it was mine I’d take the petrol pump fuse out every night
Well if the thief doesn't find the OBD port, the first thing he gonna do is remove the cover, and LOOK, what's there! :D Best solution is remove the OBD port fuse, and steering wheel lock.
Once you've got the OBD port dangling, stick one of these locks around it www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253025408752?ul_noapp=true Fit a dummy port and watch them mess around while you call the BIB.
dave hodgkinson why not relocate it? So you know where it is when you need it where only you know where it is.. save messing around when fault finding, remapping or data logging. You don't have to go back up cut the cable ties and then tie it back up again when your done
Hmm, you've pushed it through, zip tied it and now...........you don't know where it is???? do have memory problems? it takes seconds to unclip it and plug in a reader, you're trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill or justify selling something that's totally unnecessary.
dave hodgkinson well for one I'm not selling anything, 2 I've not said I'd forget where it is.. the idea is to relocate it somewhere else so it's still easily accessible for me yet still makes it difficult if someone were to try and steal my car.. if they wanted it bad enough they would take it but it slows them down and doesn't mean I have to go up into my dash to cut some cable ties so I can use my OBD port.. it's easier and more efficient for me and helps to protect my car a little bit I thought I'd share it to help other people. If you don't want to do it that's fine I'm not making you do anything
DON'T buy this cable! It is NOT a 16 poles pin to pin cable. In Ford Focus 2016 about half of the car devices can communicate with the official service interface because only the following pins are connected: 2 (J1850 Bus +) connected with 2 4 (Chassis Ground) connected with 4 and with 5 of both connectors 5 (Signal Ground) connected with 5 and with 4 of both connectors 6 (CAN - J-2234 High) connected with 6 7 (ISO 9141-2 K-Line) connected with 7 10 (J1850 Bus -) connected with 10 14 (CAN - J-2234 Low) connected with 14 15 (ISO 9141-2 Low) connected with 15 These pins are NOT connected (insulated): 1 (Vendor Option) 3 (Vendor Option) 8 (Vendor Option) 9 (Vendor Option) 11 (Vendor Option) 12 (Vendor Option) 13 (Vendor Option) 16 (Battery Power) and apparently some of them are needed
Remember the days when thief’s Used screwdrivers to steal cars. Now there getting smart with this, code and stuff. It’s kind of worried get that a modern car could be stolen within 30 seconds.
you would have to do that every time you get in and out of the car.. you only have to do this once.. and besides same as a steering lock, this wont stop someone stealing your car but makes it more difficult especially since the way they're steeling the cars is by plugging into the OBD port. what makes it so easy to steal these cars is because of the proximity of the port to the window.. move it further away from said window makes it alot more time consuming to steal the car increasing the chance the the thief to give up or get caught.
Brandon Mongillo it’s not, the connectors pushed right to the back, you can also put cable ties around the old connecter to the extension. Like I mentioned, if someone wants to steal it they will, but if it slows them down whilst the alarms going off and they run off. That’s the idea behind this.
trigger130482 like I said mate if they want it they'll have it. If it usually takes them 15 Seconds to steal it from putting the window though.. if they have to start putting their hand up into the dash, undo the cable tie, to then plug it in it's going to make them less likely to get away with it 👍🏻
Leave a dummy OBD in place. Gives them something to plug into. If the OBD isn’t there they may rip the lower dash to bits looking for it. Reposition the OBD but leave a fake in place.
Nice one buddy 👍
Sorry to hear about the thefts. In the US, thieves do not know how to drive manuals much less put them in reverse😂.
Thanks for the info.
👍
Haha that quite funny :P
Kevin Lew it's funny because it's true 😂 why they don't teach people to drive in manuals is beyond me

no worries matey :)
Cheers man, I just moved mine up in dash. didn't know it was so easy and simple don't want my St200 going walkies
Not much thefts of them up here in Scotland as much as the South but I've bought a dummy OBD port just in case. This video helped a lot! cheers 😀
Chris Mac nice one dude :)
You can also remove the fuse from the glovebox which may help a little too. That's if their obd connector doesn't have its own power.
Just had my prized st stolen...wish I'd knew this info beforehand but now I do it'll be the first thing I do when I replace my motor.. Cheers pal
This is a 1 million dolar tip ..... thanks . I have used the same technic on my Ford camper car .... thanks for sharing :)
Good video, just ordered the OBD extender, thanks mate.
Great, informative video. Thanks for sharing!..
great video mate and I'm gonna get on with doing this to my fiesta st tomorrow.....I live in birmingham and your right there getting stolen daily, last week two were stolen in one night within a mile where i live.....10 seconds it took the one car to be stolen.
+stuart watson ahh, your not far from me! Yeah man it's scary, they're going left right and centre!
pro trick: you can watch movies at Kaldrostream. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Kairo Lewis yea, I've been watching on kaldroStream for since november myself :)
I had my mk7 Zetec S stolen in Birmingham last week and it wasn't keyless, so I'd recommended this video to anyone in general
Cars&Co. thanks mate, I'd also recommend a battery cut off switch if it doesn't void your manufacturers warranty
Thanks for the heads up.
its all good bro! happy to help! :D
Thanks for the video. I had no idea these cars were that easy to steal let alone there being a real issue in the uk. Looking at sorting this out asap.
Hey bud such a shame hearing all these fiestas being stolen. Hear atleast one a day on ST page on facebook. I bought today a gear stick & hand brake lock as a deterent however never thought about moving the port! shall do that tomorrow for sure! Keep the vids up! :D
such a shame mate! yea its so easy. thanks for your continued support bro, really appreciate it :D
Massively helpful vid this - cheers!

Thanks for the video. Too late for my lad's Fiesta ST unfortunately, but hopefully my daughter's Zetec is a little safer from the scumbags now.
its the keyless start that ruins it for them :(
My fiesta didn’t have keyless and was still taken, howd they do it?
My fiesta zetec s was nicked without touching the port.by scanning the key from my front door then bouncing the signal to the car.you can buy a pouch to keep the transponder in to block this.I also have the spare unit wrapped in tin foil and kept in a baccy tin
Nice Vid again mate, I think I'm just gonna unhook mine as stuffit inside but what do you think about removing the DataLink fuse? I have on mine..
i would mate! you never know it might just save your car! Well i imagine if theres no power for the OBD it could only be a good thing!
Any recommendations for a decent OBD extender?
Hi. Where did you get your obd relocate from bud, looking to buy one for my st
Brilliant information Thankyou gonna find someone to do it for me
Thank you, my car was nicked this weekend (so the horse has bolted) next time even I can do this and I won't drive to the NEC, Birmingham!
Jesus! no way! Birmingham is notorious for thefts :(
Another great video cheers for the advice been looking to do this keep up the great work
thanks Aaron! really appreciate the kind words!
going to Ford for a test drive of a ST 2.
What is the size of the steering wheel as im looking at a disklok?
MetalMatt2510 small I believe matey
Hey Jack, another great video mate! I actually got the extension and dummy port last week and plan to fit them this weekend, just a quick question; Ford won't get funny about my warranty messing around with this will they? Maybe if they made the vehicles more secure we wouldn't need to do this!!

top man love your vids this is a must. like you sed so many get nicked its unreal
Cheers bro! appreciate it mate :) and yea, even if you don't have the extension just move it out of the way so its less easy to get too!
is this only on the models with the push start ?
Great video, you could relocate the obd port, and replace it with a dummy obd port, the robbers then, would spend minutes trying to steal your car, but would get nowhere as the obd port is not wired, then give up, just an idea.
Great informative video cheers for posting it.
cheers buddy :)
*Hey, just a tip next time, try to film in a more secluded area. The cars passing by made it kind of hard to hear.*
that's my driveway dude, dont really have anywhere else since theres a car that doesnt move out of the garage because its my dads baby haha. i did it in the middle of the day as well when everyone should be at work haha. with it being dark by 4pm now makes more difficult too :(

Picking my st up monday!
you best make a video so i can have a look! :D
picking mine up saturday mate!!! buzzing now. This video is bloody brilliant, its something ive been worried about. first thing im going to do
thanks mate, really appreciate that!
Cars&Co. got the car and its definitely a special car! Love it. Also its red 0.o
absolutely loving my st. the drive back from bristol was awesome
Before I buy one, can you just confirm that the extension does work :)
Michael Jones yes mate it 100% works
Brilliant! I'll get it bought and fitted then! I'm in Rugeley, so not too far from where the thefts are happening
get a disk lock to that way they may avoid putting your window through first plus also they may just break in your house Nick your keys if obd isn't there! nice vid though ta

You have to careful to let your mechanic know about your modification. Otherwise, it will fry his diagnostic tool, and you will be liable for it.
Good vid m8... thanx 👍
Picking up my car next week and cant say want to do this but feel like I need to :( Think ill also get a stearing wheel lock just to piss them off more..
Thats an excellent deterant :)
@cars&co are you a member on fiestastoc?
+dUb ™ yeah man, don't go on there very often though!
Might be worth spending some more time taking the trim off and hiding the old one better also if it was mine I’d take the petrol pump fuse out every night
What if thief connect directly to computer
brilliant !
Good vid 👍👍👍
Should be picking my ST-2 on friday afternoon at the earliest
MetalMatt2510 congratulations buddy!
top vid dude, this method and a disklock would make it not worth the effort to nick.
russler jones +1 for this
Well if the thief doesn't find the OBD port, the first thing he gonna do is remove the cover, and LOOK, what's there! :D
Best solution is remove the OBD port fuse, and steering wheel lock.
Szigi80 not if it’s pushed right back under the dash, you would have to get right under the dash to be able to find it mate.
Can you update the links please
Anyone know if this will work on Bmw 320d
Once you've got the OBD port dangling, stick one of these locks around it www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253025408752?ul_noapp=true Fit a dummy port and watch them mess around while you call the BIB.
Massive problem in North America too
1 ball for football, two balls for 2 games of football
why relocate it? just push it through and zip tie up behind the dash. i mean, its not like you use it every day
dave hodgkinson why not relocate it? So you know where it is when you need it where only you know where it is.. save messing around when fault finding, remapping or data logging. You don't have to go back up cut the cable ties and then tie it back up again when your done

If you don't want to do it that's fine I'm not making you do anything
Simple OBD port zapper/taser, to blow their expensive key programmers and a bonus heart attack included with ejecto seato cuz.
DON'T buy this cable!

fuck that, all crims have seen this now so they will know that it's just a wire to pull on and they get ure car lol
