Even though maybe Bird isn't the greatest guitarist in the world, it all just clicks. Everything fits perfectly in the song's style. Such an amazing musician.
part of bird's live presence is that he can do on stage what most artists need a computer and three other musicians to pull off also he loves music and it just shows
I large part of it is that he does all the looping live, in a studio he has the freedom to do whatever he wants, when you're on stage with a loop station, you're far more limited. Yet, in that you find that Andrew Bird is an artist, not just a musician.
Oh my god, he is AMAZING live... Damn... I so regret not going to see him live, he sounds soo great here. I like how he tends to go for a new melody every perfomance too, makes his stuff never get old.
ya drummer really fills in the energy for the live set. wow violin is really appealing all of a sudden. loving the violin out of a classical sense and into this experimental usage. ROCKINTRIGUE
When did I not say what you just said? I specifically wrote that life is learned through experiences. Experiences include other people too don't they'? Knowledge is power, but wisdom is king. Knowledge isn't wisdom, its like thinking, but not having any consciousness about anything at all. Two very different things which if you don't fully understand them you will never be able to transcend.
You mean that plucking? Check out Laura Cortese, btw.. Andrew is class, though. When I travel over to the US next year I'll be sure to go see his show!
Where did those steel conga drums come from? I was watching Dosh and he was doing a whole other thing. Oh yea, that was the fucking fiddle! Holy smokes, so amazing, crazy good!
Agreed. I was into Dosh way before I heard of Andrew Bird, not to say that Andrew isn't talented in his own way; I just like Martin's stuff a lot better...
Andrew Bird is my favorite artist, but why is it that his studio recordings are so bad compared to his live stuff? His live shows are amazing, but when you here the cd tracks his voice sounds like he's mumbling and some of the songs are completely different (ahem... plasticities). I'm not insulting Andrew Bird, I just think he needs a better studio to record his stuff.
The mere existence of Andrew Bird is unfair to every other musician alive. The talent oozing from this man is inhuman.
This show would be a good reason to build a time machine.

Over 15 years, wow
part of bird's live presence is that he can do on stage what most artists need a computer and three other musicians to pull off

Bird is just amazing..there's no need to argue if we all agree with that fact.
god I love this guy, hands down the best whistler in the world.

That's the most head banging I've ever seen while picking a violin. Andrew Byrd is incredible.
This is so charmingly different.
I like how his whole body moves when he plays a different note at the start.
[: It both amuses me and shows me how much he is absorbed in his music..
First time I've heard this guy. Instant fan. Thank you.
Oh my god, he is AMAZING live... Damn...
I so regret not going to see him live, he sounds soo great here. I like how he tends to go for a new melody every perfomance too, makes his stuff never get old.
how can that be?! luv that man...
Andrew Bird is awesome. In a time where music sucks he shines
I wish there was 8 of him so he could make a superband
I love this man.
I can't miss out on his new tour, I CANNOT. Determined for Andrew Bird to be my first concert.
9 years later, did you get to see him?!
Yeah! Did you see him at all? I hope so
I was there!
Beautiful!! I really love this performance :)
"what a lovely sound" indeed Mr. Bird.

I wish I had a direct feed from Andrew Bird's brain into my own.
I am ecstatic !!!
I love the drums in all of his songs, the way the change dynamically throughout the song...
Incredible talent. I'm grateful he gets to share it with us in this our time.
See you at Bonnaroo in a few months!
The ad before this clip was insane (in a good way)!! LOVE his sense of melody, style, and rhythm, very unique.
I'm glad someone with your name has such music taste.
He whistles like only an angel could. Go my little canary, whistle my darling.
ya drummer really fills in the energy for the live set. wow violin is really appealing all of a sudden. loving the violin out of a classical sense and into this experimental usage. ROCKINTRIGUE

This is true music.
Mesmerizing!!!
His songs usually do convey a specific meaning if you set aside a few minutes to think about it. Being stubborn never solved anything.

@qtpieresse DOUBLE dat!
You mean that plucking?
Check out Laura Cortese, btw..
Andrew is class, though. When I travel over to the US next year I'll be sure to go see his show!
he made that sound with a violin?? i was wondering which instrument they used. andrew bird is so talented.
Where did those steel conga drums come from? I was watching Dosh and he was doing a whole other thing. Oh yea, that was the fucking fiddle! Holy smokes, so amazing, crazy good!
that guitar solo is somehow charming.
@joemoma516 Yeah, martin dosh. He's an extremely talented drummer, really tight, and really creative.
@beninatorskater Angels don't whistle, they hum. Frankly, Andrew has surpassed godliness with whistling.
@spooninspoon that's because he's actually musically educated -he's not a hack.
@Username00071 - Neh- Beck's a skinny guy too. For some reason I my an exception when a musician can sound like this :D
@brentjamesonparker
Sure, you just try playing some Bird loop sequences, have fun
@chessmeister that's an interested thought.
check out- el ten eleven
Agreed. I was into Dosh way before I heard of Andrew Bird, not to say that Andrew isn't talented in his own way; I just like Martin's stuff a lot better...
a couple times when he held his whistle for a few seconds it sounded like an alien spaceship lol
@chessmeister that's an interesting thought.
@spooninspoon *popular music
that sound is him plucking his violin like a guitar.
hes the only guy i know that plays violin like that. haha. hes good though i like all of his stuff.
BAMF
I hear lots of Bowie influence. He's an 80s kid...
Oh, you're music. It makes other music look dull. But that's just me :)
This kinda reminds me of the doors :O
why?
Marry me, Mr. Bird.
wtf? christ comments on a andrew bird song? lulz
HAHAHAHAHAHA GOOD ON YOU
HE'S SO SKINNY
and
i think he's done
I too love his music, he's so skinny i hope he doesn't end up like another rocker heroin addict.
his violin skills a far superior to his guitar skills! haha
With Brad Pitt on drums, its...
Squirrel Nut Zippers
LOL

He looks kinda skeletal.
