Can I ask, what month did you do it? In July when we’re doing it, you’d think that it’d be ‘hot’, but we all know that this is the Uk so the weather changes each day! 😂

I think it was September? I tend to hike May/September to avoid school holidays and rammed campsites. Yeah the weather makes such a difference. First time i did the c2c it rained 24/7 for the first 5 days and was miserable!

It was impressing. Many memories came back, from the beginning untill the end.
I walked the Coast to Coast with my wife in two parts, in the years 2008 and 2009. I detected some more luxury along the track, such as a refrigerator with cool drinks. But very important for us nature an the quietness stayed the same!!,
Because of a serious illness it is not possible for me to walk the track for the second time. And I am now 65 years old and my condition is also not as good anymore now than when I was 52.
But the memories stay and are coming back by watching this beatiful documentary..
    Many thanks for making it.

New to the channel as first saw your WHW videos while researching that walk, now looking at the C2C and have to say this is up there with the best videos i have seen on it, really useful information and informative along the way, great footage and editing too, it's hard enough doing these walks let alone all the extra effort going into the content as well, so well done for that and a big thank you for your efforts!

Brilliant set of videos, thanks for sharing the journey. Drone footage was really good. I liked how you took your time and enjoyed the sights and sounds. The pub approach looks excellent and nice to meet a hardy band along the way to share the adventure with. I grew up in Robin Hoods Bay and have to say saw some pretty battered looking coast to coasters over the years. You and Dave looked fresh as daisies at the end. Well done.

Thanks for the comment. Really appreciate it. In 2010 we were the battered ones. Days of torrential rain destroyed our feet. My one friend had to go to A and E rather than celebrate in the pub. As a good chunk of skin came off his foot and it needed dressing! 🤮

Hi mate. I was back over in the Lakes today, walking the Fairfield Horseshoe and thinking about our coast to coast and Dave and you. Sat in the pub after having a Cumberland sausage and mash when the alert came through for your latest video! Couldn’t wait to get home and watch it and it was well worth the wait 👍 I was moved at the end mate. It was a great adventure but it’s the people you meet along the way that make it special...

Still in Tasmania, a long way from home sadly, but you brought a bit of the lakes into my world for a short while, and a taste of what lays ahead when the planes fly north again! Cheers Karina x

It was worth the wait for part 3, excellent videos, the drone footage was great. Your right, it is about the folks you meet along the way, 3 years ago on the C2C I met up frequently with 4 guys from Manchester and one from Liverpool, all helped to make it to Robin Hoods Bay. This series is the best I've seen on the route, keep them coming.

Just wondering how you got on finding a place to stay in Robin Hoods Bay on your last night. I plan to arrive on a Friday so I may have the same issues as yourself trying to find a camp site. Enjoyed watching your journey. Can I ask, is The Lion on the Lyke Wake Walk? I did it many years ago and the pub looks awfully familiar. We had two pints of Old Peculiar to keep us going I remember.
    Anyway, again, an enjoyable watch.

Great videos, thanks for sharing your journey with us. I noticed your shoes weren't typical hiking boots .. did you ever have problems with mud, water, etc? What would you recommend? Something that's durable and waterproof? Plenty of compeed?

Thanks for the comment, really appreciate it. Yeah I like trail runners in the summer months. Usually non waterproof as they dry in about 30min to 1 hour if wet. Where as once boots have soaked through they are nearly impossible to dry out if camping without a fire. Just comfy ones with as much cushioning as possible. Come the fringe months im back to gortex boots and full leather for winter.

Been looking at the Duplex.... if you don’t mind me asking what was the import duty on it mate? Thanks👍🏽

Thanks alot. Its a great hike. I actually picked up my duplex in the USA so dodged import duties!
Just watched a guy do a video on import tax from the US he paid an extra £70 on a £200 rucksack. So guessing its at least over £100 for a duplex!

Hi I've just finished watching all 3 episodes & really enjoyed them. I walked it 11th to 23rd August 2020 so likely a similar time. One question how did you manage your feet in the non waterproof footwear? I started off in similar but my feet suffered so much being wet a lot of the time I ended up having waterproof boots sent to Reeth PO to swop out.

    • @gonehiking9297

Thanks alot. I think i only really had wet feet most of the day for one day. My waterproof socks lasted a couple of hours before wetting through. Then i changed my socks halfway through the day. On the other days my feet got wet they would dry in about an hour. I think i got one heel blister the whole trip.

I did it 10 years before in waterproof walking boots. They got soaked on day one. They stayed wet for 5 days while camping. I only managed to dry them out at a youth hostel. My feet were much worse that time. Admittedly the weather was horrendous first time round.

Hi, I really enjoyed your Coast to Coast Walk and look forward to your videos of when you resume your travels along the south west coastal path. Have you ever thought of doing the Pembrokeshire coastal path in West Wales, by the way? What shoes do you recommend for walking the coastal path in? Thanks, Gaz

    • @gonehiking9297
      @gonehiking9297  3 года назад +1

Alright Gaz. Thanks alot. Yes hopefully back to the SWCP next year. Would love the Pembrokeshire coast path or the Welsh coast path. So many trails to hike and so little time. Sadly work gets in the way of hiking!!!
As for shoes I'm not sure if i would recommend anything, footware is a very personal choice. I'm currently using brookes casacdia 14s trail runners in good weather. When moving through the seasons I have some Merrell zion gortex boots and some old full leather ones for full on winter.

I use OS maps and hiiker app. Both about £20 per year. Which i think is good value considering an os paper map for tiny bit of the country is £10-12. OS is great for having great detail of the entire country on your phone. More focused around Plotting routes. Make your own hikes etc. Hiiker is good as it has loads of existing trails and valuable info such as water, shops, campsites, all amenities along the way. Just remeber to download what you need before heading out. Then they work on gps so you can put your phone in flight mode to conserve battery and they still work.
