- 🎵 Welcome to the Family Madrigal. 🎶💃🏡 Watch a brand-new, magical clip from Disney’s #Encanto and see the movie in theaters this Thanksgiving.
Walt Disney Animation Studios' upcoming feature film “Encanto” tells the tale of the Madrigals, an extraordinary family who live in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. Each child has been blessed with a magic gift unique to them-each child except Mirabel. But when the family’s home is threatened, Mirabel may be their only hope.
The voice cast includes Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel; María Cecilia Botero as Mirabel’s grandmother Alma aka Abuela; John Leguizamo as Bruno; Angie Cepeda and Wilmer Valderrama as Mirabel’s parents, Julieta and Agustín; and Diane Guererro and Jessica Darrow as Mirabel’s sisters, Isabela and Luisa. Also lending their voices are Carolina Gaitán and Mauro Castillo as Mirabel’s aunt and uncle, Pepa and Félix; and Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz and Ravi Cabot-Conyers as Mirabel’s cousins Dolores, Camilo and Antonio, respectively.
The film features all-new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “Moana”) and is directed by Byron Howard (“Zootopia,” “Tangled”) and Jared Bush (co-director “Zootopia”), co-directed by Charise Castro Smith (writer “The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez”) and produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino. Bush and Castro Smith are screenwriters on the film.Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” opens in theaters November 24, 2021.

SILENZIO BRUNO!

This made me laugh haha

Both films also have a Giulieta/Julieta in it (Mirabel's mom)
"We don't talk about Bruno" Disney really hates Brunos this year
SILENCIO BRUNO

Bruno must've done something
what did bruno do👁
Silenzio Bruno!
"And that's why coffee is for grownups!" I love the way that Mirabel says that line. The music sounds good, definitely more along the lines of Mr. Miranda's work for "In The Heights," which is just fine with me! 2 (or 3) more weeks ya'll!
oo i didnt notice she say ''and that's why coffe is for grownups''
agree!
Colombian coffee is pretty good though
Haha but here in Colombia is very normal drink coffee, even the kids 🤣🤣
I mean it's not really that authentic though, latino people drink coffee from a very early age that's why they're so short but other than that not too bad
I love how self-aware this song is. The kids basically know this song was meant to introduce the family members!
Biggest twist in the film is the fact that Mirabel can break the 4th wall
@@RobBob6197 so her power is either Deadpool or Chowder?

@@uget-uget - I’m predicting that without her, the others’ powers fade or something. Not that I give any kind of sh*t; this film looks insufferable.
Mirabel's gift is being the Disney protagonist with glasses.
Her and Milo Thatch.
and Lewis on Meet the Robinsons
Ok we get it like the joke is gone now
And Chicken Little (regardless if the majority don't like the film and pretend it doesn't exist)
So that makes 4 Disney Main protagonists with Glasses: Milo Thatch, Chicken Little, Lewis (Meet the Robinsons), and Mirabel

Notice how Mirabel is the only one who seems to be interacting with the house as if it was just another person. The trailers and this song show her waving to the house and talking to it, while the other family members treat it differently. I think that this connection she has with the house may have something to do with the plot.
That's the feeling I was getting. She seems to play with the house and I thought maybe her connection to the house was supposed to be her power. Especially in that one trailer where she's all, "tiles! Floors!" and the house is doing what she asks. If nothing else, then the house is her friend like the Ocean was Moana's friend.
Casita is representation of their family, and Mirabel seems to be the one who's the most connected to everyone. I think the disappearance of their magic is some kind of punishment for abandoning Bruno, since he's a part of their family. Mirabel is the only one who can save magic because she is accepting of Bruno (when everyone tries to silence her she still tells the kids about him).
Ok I may be looking too deep into this...
@@nessie968 I think you are onto something there… Mirabel probably defines her family by the fact that they are related and care for each other, while everyone else defines them by their magical gifts. The casita is bouncing back at them for not realizing that what makes them family and what makes their home feel like home is not their magical gifts, but rather their love fr each other.
@@muffinpaste that is a really good theory
Just hope it doesn't get bashed by "family good" haters
Yeah, and the house responds back to her when she does too (adding to the song lol), I think it's cute, they seem very close.
It looks like the Family Madrigal’s gifts follow the same philosophy as the Parr family’s superpowers. The aunt with the sunny disposition making the local weather match her mood, the mother’s home cooking literally healing any injury, the apparently flawless sister/cousin spreading flowers wherever she walks, the gossipy sister/cousin being able to hear over great distances, etc.
🌸Isabela is the sister 🌸
and
🔊dolores is the cousin👂
And of course this mysterious Bruno character is the trope of "That mysterious relative that is usually an uncle that nobody talks about"
@@OpticalSorcerer I think it’s more so that their powers develop and or cause their personalities to manifest that way.
@@OpticalSorcerer This might be a bit spoiler-y and I don't remember the name of the article where I read this, but their powers seem to be correlated to a combination of both their individual personalities and their familial roles. For instance (this was the example used in the article), Luisa has super strength because she likes helping other people. As for her familial role, she's the rock that the family relies on the most when they have a problem. So yeah, it sounds like they're doing the same thing they did for Incredibles but adding something a little different?

I just love Mirabel's sense of humor and one-liners along with Stephanie Beatriz's providing voice for her. Even I am impressed on how well she can sing, cause for a while I thought she mostly did acting.
Hold up. ROSA is the lead actress in this?!
@@WhiteRaven696 Yup.
I always forget how her real voice sounds
Stephanie Beatriz?? Man, how does she always manage to disappear into her roles like that?
@@WhiteRaven696 I'm still trying to wrap my mind around that one. 🤣😅
As a latina person of color, its great and refreshing to see not only a family and community that's not made of only brown people, but white people too. That's how my family looks like, that's how the people i go to school look like.
North American media has a problem of depicting latino people as only brown/mixed people and if you're white, you cant possibly be latino. They seem to forget that Latin America is a mixed pot. We have brown, white, black, asian people! North America seems to forget that being Latino is not a race, but its about being part of cultures that are exclusive to people from south and central America.
So yeah, very refreshing.
Finally somebody put it into words. I strongly.agree with your comment.
agreed!! im an argentinian but people never believe me because im pretty white! very happy to see colombian culture being represented in encanto! colombians have always spoken such pretty spanish in my opinion. and truthfully, I am very happy to see any spanish representation in media :)
i relate to this on a spiritual level saludos desde peru
Yo soy Latina y soy palida.
I'm Latin-american and I'm pale.
yes yes yes yes!!
I like how naturally she speaks! She doesn’t have that voice acting tone, but more of an actual speaking voice
I feel like it's quite the opposite "well the temperature gets weird" or every time she says "madregal it sounds like she's putting on a voice and not in a convincing way"
I feel like Lin had more control with the songs here more than in Moana just from the opening song itself.
In Lin’s other cinematic musicals like In The Heights, Hamilton, and Vivo, the opening song is either about the main character’s wants and identity, or the main character introducing themselves, the other characters, and the place they’re in. (Which makes Lin a very effective songwriter)
Lin still did a great job with Moana but it seems that he was still restrained by the usual Disney formula. Here, Lin has more freedom with the songs and how it works with the story.
I agree
It was technically his idea along with the directors.
@Sarandib22 bruh dude I know you can learn every language in this century, but why of all you choose the language of wrong opinions?
I always get teary eyed when I listen to Hamilton or In The Heights, even with the happy songs like Schuyler Sisters. I came into this movie without knowing Lin was involved and got the same teary eyes, and then told my gf halfway through the movie I'm sure Lin is somehow involved. I'm so proud of myself I was right lol
I think the reason he didn't entirely have control of Moanas music was because the film was based on Polynesian culture and it would be remiss of them to not also include Polynesian musicians in the songwriting process
I’m so glad that they’re doing a blonde Colombian and not all of them with a dark hair color or skin. It seems that the USA people finally realized that not all of us Latinos have darker skin/hair/eyes colors.
me too! She kinda looks like me a little bit and that makes me so happy as a woman who’s both white and has Mexican heritage (even though Columbia is a completely different part of Latin American culture. 😂)
Same!
I am one of those super duper Blanco Colombianas. Proud to be Colombiana and part of a rainbow of people from my country,
I KNOW! the only white latina representation we have is honey lemon from big hero 6, but now we keep getting more :D im so happy
@@Outtacontextouttatime Mirabal looks like a colombian of spanish ancestry, if you look at the family tree Mirabel's mother has a clearly white sister and a spanish looking brother, she looks also spanish, like the grandma, then Mirabel dad looks iberian colombian too.
Basically Lin Manuel Miranda did his family in this family but included a black colombian and his mixed kids, and also Mirabel sister is a darkskinned indigenous (I assume) colombian, the one with the flowers
“We don’t talk about Bruno”
Why do I feel like that’s the problem right there? That Casita was whole so long as the family was whole. This family is broken, and it looks like Bruno returning (because we see him in previews) just stressed the house out.
Maybe Mirabel’s gift is the gift of harmony, and she’s never had to use it before.
Everyone’s talking about her glasses or her skin tone or her culture, but how come no one’s talking about her figure!? Finally, a Disney protagonist that isn’t impossibly skinny and has realistic proportions! I know moana also had that, but even she was somewhat thin! My body type is exactly like mirabelle’s, and it’s amazing to finally see someone in an animated movie that looks like me!
Even her side profile is amazing. It has a bump on her nose, and even same with Julietta. It looks sorta like mine and I love it. Bc normally Disney characters have the perfect button nose
@@user-rc3du8jr6w isabela has a slight bump too and she is portrayed as the most “beautiful” and “perfect”. 🥺 it makes me happy to see it being seen as a beautiful feature
The characters in this movie are very diverse in body type, i too was very happy to see this, but just because a character doesn't look like you, it doesn't mean it's design is unrealistic though
I'm obsessed with that song right now. If a song is written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, you know that never disappoints
And his songs are easy to get stuck in your head
Her gift is being able to run around, dace, and sing at the same time. Last time I tried that I nearly passed out.
JAJAJAJAJAJJAJAJAJAJAJ X2
Then that's evry Disney characters gift
I can't stop thinking about Bruno's disappearance, so mysterious.
judging by the official trailer he probably went on his own to try and save the house from losing its magic, as he could see the future and that's what's depicted happening in the trailer.
All those vibrant colors, the costumes are fantastic, the way she waves her skirt and dances is so typical of the cumbia... her movements are so natural and fluent! This definitely feels like Colombia
