@@JaceEntertainment Yep, Friday night after school was game night all through middle and high school! My cousins and friends would come over, we played NBA Live 2003 a lot! I still play it to this day, awesome game!
Gaming was at its peak in the early 2000s right before the birth of the next gen consoles. They were pushing what the PS2 and Xbox could do to the max.
Emulation can do some incredible things with games. It's even more awesome how some of these games have modern roster updates because of dedicated fans
Ahh the early 2000's, I remember playing NFL Blitz 2002 with my brother all the time and we had that one GameCube controller with the broken left stick that always left u running to the left
god.. that thps4 footage... looks so good. To anyone who likes the TH series. You should look at THUG PRO a PC mod that has online and almost every map ever in the Tony Hawk Series
If I’m not mistaken, I think they need to get back the license for every rapper. I’d love to see a remaster of the game or a new version of it with new rappers/trappers.
I've learned that running old titles through emulation at 1440p is the perfect compromise. If things are too clear, you can see a lot of the imperfections of technology of that time.
The NASCAR EA Sports series was amazing. 06 was probably my favorite along side 07, and no game since has been able to match the enjoyment that game brought with the deep career mode and mini races where you would drive against the greatest drivers on some real and some made up tracks Edit: after watching the entire video, 04-06 was really a great time for sports games. Some have not even gotten close to the quality of gameplay those older games provided
8:55 Minor point: the analog swing was introduced on PS2 in the 2003 version of the game. Perhaps it was not in the gamecube version until 2004. Good video; keep making good content and your channel will grow.
Well... some great games were made back then too Maybe a silver age Around that time the non-sports "must have" were resident evil 4, gta san andreas and need for speed most wanted
I remember while in college they dropped the price of NCAA Football 06 and Madden 06 down cheap for students, something like $15-20 each at university bookstores or something. Doing career mode in NCAA and transferring it to Madden was just great. Burned way too much time doing that, especially since I did full 15 minute quarters. Playing Gran Turismo 4 in 4K should be nice, especially if run from 1080i mode.
Hey man, I'm sort of late to the SoftDrinkTV party here re: your anti-Madden content, but I just wanna say I appreciate your perspective and the work you've put in to opening the eyes of sports games consumers. I was always nostalgic about Madden 07 and NFL 2K5 on my OG Xbox, but could never really place why. Your videos have refreshed my perspective and I'm excited now, as an adult PC gamer, to get those games back! Thanks again!
It’s embarrassing that gaming was at its peak in the mid-2000s. I’m blessed to have grown up during that time, but I rarely feel the same excitement when I play current games.
"I never played the tiger woods games frequently." Homie no offense but i dont think youve played any of these games frequently based on the quality of that gameplay
I play Madden 08 on psp emulator. I got NBA streets, midnight club dub edition, need for speed most wanted 2005, Grand theft auto vice City stories, Grand theft auto liberty city stories. I also got does app called classic Gameboy that allows you to play PlayStation 1, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Gameboy advance, regular Gameboy, original Nintendo, Neo Geo games, I also got the Super Nintendo emulator that allows you to play Super Nintendo games I get all my games from Coolrom.com site and I get the super Nintendo games from Roms Mania site. I even got the apps on my phone with my Bluetooth gamesir controller so my OnePlus 6T that has a 6.5 inch display.
Just one emulation enthusiast's opinion: I prefer to have black bars and properly scaled original 4:3 ratio gameplay over stretch-o-vision when proper 16:9 scaling isn't an option.
The nascar 05 game made me laugh and brought great memories. Most importantly I’m just glad to know I wasn’t the only one driving backwards and trying to purposely crash the cars when I got bored lol
I believe on the old CRT tv's, they did. There is no way the 480p is how it looked when i played it. It was much closer to the look of the 4k side. Think it has more to do with how these games look on current tech/monitors.
Some great games!!! As good as graphics are today player bodies and animations often look more robotic. These are games from ps2 and the animations look smooth!
They need to make an *Only on Playstation* MVP Baseball remake-type game. With 4KUHD graphics, current players, a career mode similar to Road to the Show, and the ability to *CHARGE THE MOUND!* *MLB: MVP Baseball to the Show [BASED OFF OF MVP BASEBALL 2005]*
Absolutely love and played a ton of NFL Quarterback Club 99 on the N64. QB Club 2000 really ruined the franchise for me after that. 2001 tried to bring back what 99 had, at least on the Dreamcast version but never could get back that magic. Can't remember if I tried 2002 on PS2 or not. That the one where Gannon was one of the cover athletes and not just Favre?
I played PS2 Maddens n NBA Lives more than anything growing up... only play time I gave possibly more time to was GTA Vice City & San Andreas that's it... the PS2 era had the best sports games period 🤷♂️
i know a lot of people trash NFL Tour as a crappy Street wannabe, but it's actually a lot of fun. I've gotten probably a hundred or 2 hours out of it since it came out, same as Street. It's not a good game, objectively speaking, but it's fun as hell. Of course, all we really want is a new Street game. My point is, Tour shouldn't get so much flak just because it isn't NFL Street
I still play and make videos of old sports games I enjoy them more than current new sports games it's all about the game factor for me 😁🤙Dope video 👏👏👏
Pro Evolution Soccer 3,4,5 and 6 on PCSX2 is probably my favourite set, especially with all the custom kits and players, there's some great modders out there
I know you said you're not a fan of FIFA so you wouldn't know, but from a game play perspective the new ones are much better then the ps2 generation. Which you cant necessarily say the same for Madden. But the fact that you could only run in 8 directions kind of kills fifa in a way it doesn't kill Madden. The 360 stick precision of the later generations was a game changer for soccer games.
The Nightly Build of PCSX2 has vulkan as one of it's graphics API and makes a lot of games playable that were once unplayable on the vanilla builds because of the lack of Vulkan
Very cool video and appreciate you going over a variety of games. I noticed your link for setting up the Dolphin emulator is dead as well as the one for your channel's discord. Nonetheless, it's awesome these games can live on through such technologies as the Steam Deck or even on one's own PC with updated rosters.
I remember playing nhl 99 * might be wrong with. The name * and it was the most fun I had in a while this is when nhl 17 was out and it played ten times better I’d take those games remastered and updated over any of of the new games
I still obsessively love NHL Hitz 2002 (not even a hockey fan), and the 4k would put it over the top. Thank you for this inspiring video. Maybe a silly question, but is this process as simple as setting the resolution in the emulators to 4k?
I think a new version of an nfl street type game would be cool. But in my opinion it wouldn't be worth $60. If they put it out online for like 20 bucks I'd buy it, but they will never do that unless they figure out a way to put micro transactions in it.
I don't know if I'm allowed to say the website, but a workaround has been found for one of the most popular sites that had to take down all of their roms

It was on the Gamecube version in 2003 as well.
Seeing these games in 4K compared to their original resolution reminds me of how 90s arcade games looked compared to their console counterparts.
