  • MVP Baseball 2005 is not only, in my opinion, the greatest baseball game ever made, it has a case for being one of the greatest sports games ever made. This is a reupload due to quality issues with the previous version.

@John Asaro What world are you living in? Every sports franchise of today has less depth than they did in the 2000's. I grew up and lived through it all, I saw and played through these games and I knew everything was going down hill and your graphics argument holds no weight when there is visual proof that madden 2016 had better graphics than Madden 23. Gameplay and graphics are going backwards. It is pure laziness and greed.

My father and I had a rocky relationship growing up but this was something we unknowingly bonded over. I was never into sports videogames but I would sit there and watch as he played for hours and hours just working on his players and playing single games.
When I didn’t understand the stats he’d explain them to me and I think I know what little I do know about sports stats because of that.
The music was awesome too. He’d leave the game idle while he went to take a break and the soundtrack would blast through the house. One of the few good memories at the time that I look back fondly on.

OMG when I saw the title of this video and the game cover I HAD to comment......I can't give you enough thumbs up for the video. I spent countless hours with my friends in the neighborhood, my step brothers and also my high school baseball team playing this game and watching this video makes me nostalgic as hell especially when I saw the albert Pujols in the powder blue cardinals uniform and the pitching meter. Oh man you made my day with this video haha. What you said about all the 2005 EA sports games is so damn true...I had this game, NBA Live with mello on the cover and the madden 05 with ray lewis and the tiger woods 05 was the first golf game I ever played and every single one of these games I went DEEP into careers with created players and my own mock drafts and also regular teams....The fact that the red sox (my favorite team) won it all for the first time in 86 years the year before this game came out and my fav player (besides Chipper Jones) was on the cover and it was the year I graduated high school just hits so many nostalgic spots for me that I will always love this game and the entire 05 EA sports lineup....Seeing names like Johnny Damon, David Eckstein, Alber Pujols, Manny Ramirez and JON DOWD LOL.....This was the first GREAT baseball game that would hold up today. OMG i miss this time frame, This was the last year or so that I knew every lineup and every pitching rotation for every team in the N.L. and the A.L. being MR. Baseball and having this game come out with all the bells and whistles was a perfect point in time for me....Love the video!!

Unfortunately, as for many sports games we see today, companies remove features that existed in previous games and add them back in future games pretending like they added some new feature. It’s just pure corporate greed at this point. The fact that games almost two decades old are miles ahead of the modern sports games, besides graphics, is sad.

I'm playing the show 21 ,..as good as it is , it's making me miss that old 05 game , loved picking what promotional days you'd have during the season, even what they served at the food stands, and you didn't need to be online to create a stadium, still have it in the drawer

A friend and I loved the MVP series, especially 04. Yet, we recognized how many issues 04 had and wrote down a laundry list of everything we wanted to see changed for the 05 release. We eventually sent the list US postage to EA sports, never to receive a reply. Yet, when we played MVP 05 every single suggestion we made, and improvement we wanted to see, made the 05 release. I have no clue if anyone at EA ever saw that letter, yet it sure felt like a developer listened. That EA sports is dead, buried, and it's corpse rotted. The memories however, are very much alive. God bless MVP 05. Man, I wish we could get remakes of vintage GOAT level sports games.

MLB Slugfest 2003, Nascar Thunder 2003, Madden 05, MVP bball 05 which was a crazy step up from slugfest as far as realism, NBA live 05, and super monkey ball 2 were my go to games on my GameCube when I was 7-12.. I mean just heaven sent games that me and my brother and friends played all night after baseball games during the summer. Vivid memories.

Playing franchise and starting with a small stadium and building a huge one as you got better was just the best. Somehow, ea didn’t incorporate into its other games is just a massive tragedy, mainly fifa and ncaa football. I loved this game so much and it was the last baseball game I played for about 10 years.

Words cannot describe how much I love this game growing up. This was the game that pretty much celebrated my favorite team, the Boston Red Sox ending and 86-year-old curse. The soundtrack of this game is phenomenal in my opinion, The gameplay is solid , The graphics at the time were amazing, With so many features and modes in the game, it’s kind of hard to get bored. I think overall if you just love the game of baseball game, You will fall in love with this game.

    Good times

I love MVP Baseball 2005 for the original Xbox. I played it for the 2020 MLB season and took the White Sox to the World Series in dynasty mode like they did in real life, and the game looks great in 720p on the Xbox version.

Baseball games were always ahead of their time. Even back to the first 3d baseball games like all star baseball, you had signature batting stances and pitching animations. You always had immaculate looking stadiums even dating back to 16 bit baseball games like ken griffey jr's winning run.

It’s so funny, I can’t believe somebody else remembers John Dowd. This game gives me such nostalgia, being 19, in my first apartment, with a really fun job and being completely self-sufficient, with a girlfriend I was head over heels for, and on days she was in class late sitting in the 2nd bedroom of the apartment where the Xbox was set up with a big ass fan blowing on me, getting high and playing the Mets dynasty mode for 20 years. Waking up at 5AM, getting on the train to head to work all to come back that night and do the same thing. Nothing but optimism and light responsibilities, life just didn’t seem so serious, and this game along with Gun on the Xbox brings me back to those times.

I absolutely love how the Dynasty Mode is a deep simulation. I wonder how much dedication the creators must have had put to create this game. I wish they had made a few more versions with widescreen and high graphics but keeping the core game play same. I have tried a few baseball games but none have controls as simple and elegant as MVP Baseball 2005.

Picked this up for 39 cents at a retro game store a couple of months back. I’m loving it, it’s taking me back to when I was a kid. I played a little bit of Owner Mode before switching to Dynasty, just playing GM. Seeing my players develop (or stagnate) and adjusting around that is really nice. There are gripes that I have, like having to play around matching salaries in trades, the CPU signing players after free agency ends and spring training begins, and certain players expectations being too high (a Triple A backup who’s never seen the majors won’t sign for anything less than MLB Indispensable? Really?) overall it’s an excellent experience and I’d really recommend it to anyone who is interested.

We Got the Noise by the Donots is one of the best songs to open a game with, especially MVP Baseball 2005. Thank goodness it's on Spotify.

I recall playing it at my buddy's house, and even though I'm not really into baseball, I had fun playing. I had no idea this game was so revered, even beyond MLB games and sports games! For the way that people talk about MLB: The Show, I figured that series of games held the honors of the best baseball games out there, followed by the 2k series on Xbox 360/PS3.
