For Mastering, THIS PLUGIN here. on PTHD....with ACUSTICA-AUDIO ZL plugins ---> Submission Audio Flatline ---> Oversampled/Spectral Pancz ---> ADPTR MetricAB ---> MeldaProductions MRecorder...OMFG....I save and backup my preset file to the cloud. INFA (I'm not _____ around). This one hell of a workflow!! Thanks Benoni (did you know there's a municipality named after you in Johannesburg ZA)?
I found Patchwork as I'm a Cubase 12 Mac Native user who now can't load older VST2 plugins or instruments. This plugin works as a wrapper... so in C12 I can open VST2s... and AU's!
I was struggling with REAPER for Mastering until you, Benoni, put me on to using BC Patchwork in Pro Tools seamlessly as it workflows like that! PT has some type of summing POW r2 algo going on whilst REAPER lacks that for its sound engine, unfortunately. Don't get it f'ed up; REAPER is great for PRODUCTION, POST-PRODUCING MIXING, PROD.-SESSION MIXING, and yes -- even for --- RECORDING VOCALS/BANDS and/or LIVE IN-THE-STUDIO INSTRUMENTS
Great video man! Patchwork is really awesome! My only gripe at the moment is that I can't find any way to pan my parallel chain items plugins. For example, I want to load two guitar ampsims and pan one left, and the other right. A plugin that doesn't offer a pan control built-in seems to not be able to do so?
for some reason my FL 20 won't show up in any of my VST (or VST3) folders. any idea why?! i also found it in the explorer menu and it wouldn't allow me to drag it in (i tried a couple options).
VST is a plugin format. Pro Tools DOES NOT use VSTs. It ONLY uses AAX. Patchwork allows the loading of VSTs (the format) into Pro Tools. Do some research before you try to dunk on someone and then it turns out you're the dummy 🤣🤣
Yea it’s a format FOR plugins the same way a mp3 is a format FOR music. It houses the actual product/software to channel it to specific sources(pc/Mac and/or pro tools/fl). So Steven you are almost there but Benoni is correct. You are misunderstanding exactly what a vst is, the exact same plugin can be an vst3 or aax or au. You’re thinking that “vst=plugin” but what it really is, is “vst=FORMAT FOR plugin(to work on your specific setup)” hopefully that clears things up, and please know what you’re talkin bout before you try to correct someone! lmao 😂
Thanks for the overview, I am using PT 2020.5, just downloaded the PATCHWORK DEMO version for AAX 32-64 but it does not appear on my inserts. (MONO or STEREO). I looked for the .aaxplugin file, and it is not there, (used or unused). By any chance do you know if it might be because it is a demo? any thoughts will be appreciated.
QUESTION: So I got a really important piece of software at very generous price. Pro Tools will not open it as it has no "license" will blue cat be able to open in pro-tools. This is what the dude who sold it to me said.
does anyone know if you could load a virtual insrument vst for beat making and still have access to the midi function on protools? Simplified can you use this plug in to run vst instruments and make beats still? Or only effects plugins
WOW! Fantastic video!Thank you for posting this... I have a question Does it work with virtual instruments like ezdrummer? ( I bought EZD3 vst3 but it can only be used with a 64bit daw.. I have cubase 7 32bit installed on windows 7 64bit
It has a "cute" little CPU indicator in the lower-right-hand corner of the plugin GUI window. If it goes the color yellow in PT, you run the risk of PT cutting off playback saying it's too much so that you ought to switch to a native PT plugin or to hold back on CPU plugin usage by downsampling the plugin processing (something to that effect LoL)
The patchwork allows for running VST in DAW like pro tools that by themselves only recognize AAX or some other format. It enables you to run VST as well (think of it as a sort of host converter, it takes your VST and translates it to a DAW that doesn't usually run VST)
Awesome vid! I'm not getting any MIDI into PatchWork for some reason in Pro Tools. I;m getting audio if I click on the piano key but not if I use my MIDI Keyboard (which I have tested on a normal Instrument track and is working fine). Any ideas?
Go to menu: Track ---> New ---> Stereo | AUX Track ---> Point "Output" on that track to re-route to that AUX bus (e.g/i.e. "AUX 1") If that doesn't work, then go to Setup ---> Peripherals and Setup | MIDI | MIDI Input Device and make sure that the sound card "sends to" VSTi plugin from .
Hi, excellent info way. After your video i've tryed to get working an instance mixing three Kontakt libraries for an old project idea, but Kontakt seems dead once i load into BlueCat, i mean, i try to make it sound clicking with the mouse but the keys on the Mapping Editor doesn't move at all...; is there any other instance that i have to set?, indepent output audio settings perhaps?, i'm into the mist... Thx in advance.
They're completely different plugins.. Patchwork is not a plugin for creating orchestral sounds - It enables you to route plugins within their rack environment more easily, parallel chaining and a number of other options... it may allow you to run VST's in Logic Pro X and so on.. Patchwork can even help alleviate CPU processing strains. However, Blue Cats PatchWork has nothing to do with Vienna Ensemble.
@@soundsofurbanlondonmediaci5696 thank you for the reply. It is to my understanding that you can use Vienna Ensemble Pro for the routing of VST, for example i have ran VSTs on Pro Tools (which works only with AAX if I'm not mistaken) with VEP.
Pro Tools uses AAX plugins. So it would be Win x64 AAX. You can install each version though to use in other programs and standalone. No problem installing them all.
Depends on the version of PT you have. The Bluecat installers are PER format. So you have to install the AAX64 version for PT11 and up, or RTAS for PT10 or below, or AAX32 for PT10.
That's a nice overview of PatchWork, thanks!

Love PatchWork, great for Reason and Pro Tools. The mix knob and saving presets to use anywhere are gold.
Doesn’t the free waves rack do this better?
I found Patchwork as I'm a Cubase 12 Mac Native user who now can't load older VST2 plugins or instruments. This plugin works as a wrapper... so in C12 I can open VST2s... and AU's!
By far the very best review and tutorial of this amazing software available. I really appreciate this, had to SUBBB!
Agreed
Patchworks changed my mixing

Well done sir! If you already aren't, you'd make a fine salesman. Cheers!
Thanks for the crash course I needed that 🙂
ok you kind of missed an important step/...like how do you start up blue cat....?

nice vid working with patchwork 1.7.6 will a new update cause a problem with my old settings!
Keep the good work bro 👍

You cannot run Korg Triton VST inside PT by using Patchwork
I really like your voice

you need to download the axx pluin at the page, it doesnt come automaticly if you download just the bluecat patchwork. had the same problem
Go to instruments
Thanks guys
Thanks for the content!
Could you do a Tutorial for Automate plugins into this Bluecat patchwork?

Will this recognize VST2 plugs or only VST and VST3?
Supposedly Blue Cat considers VST and VST2 the same kind of plugin.
Very cool, Man!
BRILLIANT!
Does it have any affect on CPU - positive? negative?

And DDMF Metaplugin. :)
how do I open bluecat in pro tools, I can only open the app but idk how to open in pro tools
can you use the mix knob for each plugin separately??
So if you get this plugin you can now buy vst plugins also if your daw does not recognize it?
That’s what i wanna know
@@heniousdelvon If so this lit. It's alot of plugs 🔌 I need for Logic that doesn't come in AU.

How do I get patchwork to appear in reason? I don't see it anywhere.
is it possible to use sidechain compression with patchwork?
I'm currently using BCPW to run addictive drums 2 in Ableton, does anybody know how to route each track separately? i mean. drum kick, snare etc.
How do you "Set Up" the synths? Unfortunately that is unclear to me.
I'm trying to figure that out right now.... I've asked KVrforum and waiting a response.
What about reasons

This appears to be for only plug-ins or fx
@@MyNameIsCelll Thx for your time. Now it can be done through Axiom.
Does it load VSTi???? Any VSTi, 3rd party, etc...?
Yes, you can load instruments as well. You can even chain multiple instruments together in one instance of PatchWork to create a new instrument.
@benonistudio @bluecataudio soooooooo I could use this like Waves Audio's "StudioRack"?
Can you load windows vsts in mac?
how to load patchwork itself in pro tools?
It's AAX, load it like any other plugin
Can anyone tell me if this is a good substitute for Vienna Ensemble Pro?
Thanks in advance

So vsts are not supported at all by protools no more?
VST has never been supported by Pro Tools. In the past it was RTAS or TDM. Now it's AAX Native or DSP
Oh okay I just got patchwork! Purchased it but it dont show up? So do I have to install some where specific to pop up?
I just purchased the blue cat patchwork, but when I go to download, I don't know which version to pick? I'm using protools ultimate on a windows pc.
Pro Tools uses AAX plugins. So it would be Win x64 AAX. You can install each version though to use in other programs and standalone. No problem installing them all.

TIME FOR A COMPREHENSIVE UPDATE VIDEO!!!!!
Can you do vice versa and load aax into logic pro?
Nope. AAX is only for Avid products like Pro Tools and Media Composer.

Sooo basically, you can't load/use AAX plugins using BC Patchwork in a VST environment, right?? 🤔
How to install it on protools?
You have to get the AAX version. They have different installers for VST, AU, and AAX

I´ve been using that plugin for like 3 years now... It´s called Ableton Live Suite... No AAX bullshit on it n.n
😂 right. I use FL Studio 20 but I’m learning pro tools in case I’m in a big studio and need to hold a session down. This vid helped out
Does it work for Crack plugins
if by "cracked" you mean legal "backups" of plugins you own then yes ;)
No sir no sir
