Can you imagine the frustration? You fight your impulses for years, and once that you let loose yo your darkest desires, you choose to kill an olympian level athlete and you fail in this too. I'd be fucking livid.
Thanks for visiting Northbury Grove again, John! You're right about the beds, definitely not fit for a king, that's for sure. 11:07 Nice shot! And 14:05 Nice stab! In the ending scene you got, that was the character you play as in the game (Trevor) identifying his sister's body (Crystal). Good work with the secret code and finding the dev room. Totally understand your thoughts on the setting, it has lots more open space in there so it's a lot easier to dodge the killer. The next game is gonna be WAY more claustrophobic in setting, and much longer as well, with a beefier soundtrack and tons more story context. The Scythe Saga Universe was something we started in 2012 / 2013, as a record label that released compilations and concept albums that each told their own stories, all set within the same universe. Specter City Slasher is a 2015 album about this killer, incidentally. There's tons more lore, this is a small amount of lore, a drop in an ocean. Good eye on catching on to that! Oh yea, just a heads up. There's actually been an update to Midnight Mode. I composed an entirely new, alternate soundtrack. (Just uploaded the patch earlier.) It's a bit more intense, gives Midnight Mode a different atmosphere.
Honestly, congratulations on both the game and the soundtrack. It's freaking amazing and reminds me a lot of 80s horror movies (the best ones in my opinion), so keep up the great job
I like the soundtrack for this game, it's great. I've always been a sucker for those mid 80's to early 90's style synth songs. The game looks neat though. I agree about the open space thing. Seems like chase sequences are usually better when you're forced to remember a map layout when being threatened by an enemy presence. Trying to remember which paths lead to a dead end, which ones can potentially slow you down and make you easier prey, that kind of thing.
That happy cloud graffiti is a nod to a short experimental game called OK/NORMAL, developed by 98demake the same developer who made September 1999 which you played recently. Both of these devs seem to have similar mindsets when it comes to the aesthetic of their games.
After hearing those rage screeches, I really want a horror game where after escaping the chaseman you just hear a sound of mild disappointment. The tense music fades out and you hear a distant "...aw dang..."
I like that the higher difficulty actually shuffled around the item locations. Little details like this make me smile. And the change with the gun is so good. Most of all, chase music is something to dance to.
+Kya-Ken Art I think that's more of a precaution; kids are still going to watch stuff like this, even if he puts up warnings. The only way to actually restrict your audience, is to make the video age restricted to 18+. But it is nice that John can attract a large audience anyway.
@@oren1305 This wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Only a joke about how many channels are dominated by younger audiences while John's channel seems to be more mature.
John. I’d like to say thx for the content and random bits of useful advice you rant about. Enjoyable RUclipsr because you come off as trying to be true to yourself is how it feels. I hope you get an even bigger following dude. I noticed from random videos of people venting or ranting in passing about real life situations of their life or those near by are great examples to pick thoughts from to apply as it fits for my self. Makes for hysterically funny content at times too and entertaining in general. Few youtubers I watch even if I played or saw the game already. Cheers to you and your channel. I hope your new upload pans out for ya if not you find what works. Your videos are one of several small entertainments I look forward to in a daily basis as they release per their schedule. Keep doing you man.
YAY. In John we trust for and loyal Guys and cutting EdgeLord commentary. Really enjoyed the music video of the head banger piece at the 7:37 mark lol. I always forget to mention how much I appreciate your sense of humor in the edits
The chase music is fucking rad, but it doesn't really strike fear in my opinion. It sounds more like a crazy rave than a chase with a crazed killer. Dunno, may just be me.
I'm obsessed with these games! I love that they're creating their own world, with different rules and designs from ours. Such a cool concept and the work gone into these games are amazing! Additionally, the music is amazing!
Ah, who could forget the devs of this game? Thought from the title it was some bad horror game. These devs know how to make something pretty solid for the kind of style they're going for.
I truly love this game’s soundtrack. Not only the music, but also all of the sound effects. It really sets the atmosphere and feels spooky in a reminiscent way.
I liked your reactions. Its better than the super serious I killed my family games. Not that they can't be good... Hope you have a good weekend and thanks for playing/editing!
Hey john, Throughly love the editing to this video it was really fun to watch. Pretty cool game as well, they had all these different features you can play in this DLC. I liked it alot even though it's not as good as the first story wise. It was very entertaining to watch. That's all for now, love your video keep up the good work. 😊
Ya know, for a place called King’s Comfort Inn and being talked about so much in the first one it doesn’t look very king welcoming, that soundtrack is so awesome
That music is the shit. Ima need them to put that up on YT or release a soundtrack or something. Edit: That was a solid montage/edit during the 2nd (I think) chase.
Some thing about "the nerds tavern* just tickles me lol I really like this game. Good music and atmosphere. I'm looking forward to what they are working on next. Setting your clock to midnight to access midnight mode was a pretty good idea.
There's a game similar to Northbury Grove and Granny (kinda?). It's called "Stay out of the house" and I heard the AI is made to act as close as a game AI can get to be like a real killer. It's pretty cool and I think you would enjoy it.
Starts video : “Hey, guys, it’s John and today we are playing we are playing Northbury Grove: King’s comfort! It came out this week and it-“ Skips to 0:58 : “-looks like shit. Probably infested with cockroaches and serial killers.”
I think Midnight Mode would’ve been more interesting if it was inside too. Then maybe they could have a designated widow for you to check for the cops or whatever
I'm a little pissed John didn't look longer at that morbid cartoon on the TV screen, because it seemed like someone put a lot of work into it and it I was super curious, but I guess I'll see it more in someone else's gameplay. Tbh, I like the first game better, a contributing factor is that the killer growls and roars as he chases you, and not just when he gives up.
17:41 John: You know where you are?! Me: Flavor Town! 😭 But I still love Silent Hill, but missed bad meme joke. The music and vhs mode really adds to the set up for me. While the graphics are this or that compared to the AAA title companies, the Scythe Dev Team used phenomenal music to add much more than what visuals could portray. Or the visuals could be a representation of our knowledge of these old slasher films we grew up with as kids. Or I'm trying to push an idea about why I really enjoy their games.
I bet the killer didn't expect to be chasing an Olympic runner.....
that might be the reason for the angry scream
He was powered by the rockin' chase theme

3:02 John should quit his RUclips career to review beds
5:40 killer was just standing there looking at our guy and John didn't even notice lol creepy
Oh good, I wasn't seeing things. I was like um John...well okay then.
Oh, I didn't notice that till you mentioned it. That is creepy.
And the door was open after he shut it.
I think John noticed by the looks on his face but just didn't comment on that xd
What a twist
kiddie youtubers: AHHH AHHH GET AWAY FROM ME AHHHH
john: headbanging to the chase music
You meant Markiplier, Jacksepticeye and the likes.
That music was pretty little tho, you have to admit
I know you meant lit, but that gave me a laugh.
yeah the chase music is really fun
John has the most insecure fanbase
Wow that's a funky tune I can get down with LMAO
John that editing was GOAT lmao. I love how you did it along with the music, that had me hysterical.

I would love to be chased by a serial killer if this music played
After hearing those rage screeches, I really want a horror game where after escaping the chaseman you just hear a sound of mild disappointment. The tense music fades out and you hear a distant "...aw dang..."
i love the editing to the chase theme around 7:38 !! this game along with the previous one are both really neat, i love the slashers/chasers a lot!
5:41 oh jeepers he's looking right at us scoob!
I love the edited chase sequence where the cuts match the music because Johns expression remains the same throughout.
8:42 thats a reference to the movie "no country for old man". Great movie btw.
