21:14 That’s Stephen Fry! I didn’t realize he was in this. It’s been years since I’ve seen it. Another bit of trivia, Portia was played by Cynthia Cleese, daughter of John Cleese and Connie Booth.
For years I had Kevin Kline's first "Asshoooole!" exclamation as the system alert sound on my old Macintosh. It did include the sound of the screeching tires. Perfect.
I don't know if there's a connection, but Archibald Leach was Cary Grant's real name before he legally changed it. Grant was born in England. The film which may be relevant was "Talk of the Town" (1942) in which he played the role of Leopold Dilg. The film also stars Jean Arthur, Ronald Colman, Edgar Buchanan, and Rex Ingram. It's a legal comedy-drama, or at least centres on the law - practical versus strictly theoretical. One of my favourite films.

Kevin Kline is an actor who was really big in the 1980s and 1990s, but his career kinda slowed down in the 2000s. He was in movies like The Big Chill, Silverado, French Kiss, Dave, and Wild Wild West.
Portia was a female heroine in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice, who disguised herself as a male lawyer; Archie is a lawyer, so he possibly named her Portia on purpose.

It's safe to say KK's nomination and Oscar win were a big surprise, films like this just don't usually win at award shows. However, Kline's performance was magnificent, he played all aspects of Otto's character so perfectly well!
Delighted you enjoyed it. It's time for Time Bandits imo (if you've not seen it). Also starring John Cleese and Michael Palin (albeit only as supporting roles) and directed by another python. I'd be very surprised if you didn't love it.

Ditto checking out _Fierce Creatures_ as well, same people but in a zoo. This entire film came about from Cleese and Palin working on a skit about someone trying to get vital information from someone with a bad stutter. And that was the only scene the two of them shared.
I was also a big fan of those specific Python boys going in. I already loved Jamie and Kevin Kline. Saw it in the theater back in the day. I got all mushy for Archie and Wanda too.
Glad that you enjoyed this movie. Oh my. I saw that Stephen Fry was the guy Otto hits in the back of the head at the airport. "Look! The queen." Fun fact. Since you enjoyed "Blazing Saddles" which is a parody, and "A Fish Called Wanda" which is a straight up comedy, let me recommend two other Mel Brooks films. "Young Frankenstein"(1974) directed by Brooks and co-written by Brooks and Gene Wilder, is a parody of classic black and white monster/horror films, especially of the 1931 "Frankenstein" and its sequels. It stars Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn (Lily von Shtupp in Blazing Saddles), Teri Garr, Marty Feldman (whom I'm sure you know from many UK sketch comedy programs), and Cloris Leachman. "The Producers"(1967) was written and directed by Mel Brooks, and it won him the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. It stars the brillliant Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder (in his first leading role in a movie), and has a wonderful supporting cast, notably Ken Mars and Dick Shawn. Make sure to watch the 1967 original, not the film of Brooks's musical version. In 2001 Brooks adapted The Producers into a multiple Tony Award winning musical. It was nominated in eleven categories, and won in all of them. But the 2005 film adaptation of the musical is a poor shadow of the Broadway show. On the American Film Institute list of 100 greatest American comedies Blazing Saddles is #6, The Producers is #11, and Young Frankenstein is #13. BTW, #1 is the 1959 classic "Some Like It Hot." "Some Like It Hot" is considered to have one of the greatest comedy scripts ever written. Directed by the great Billy Wilder, it stars Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis (Jamie Leigh's dad), and Marilyn Monroe.
