I had a Jiminy in my Colorado. The latch to the rear seat back on the driver's side was the culprit. A small piece of cloth tape on the u shaped latch striker silenced it. Great video as always!
Andy (and Chris as well) did you get the seat squeak only when a person was sitting back there? That seems to be the only cause for my own little Jiminy.
That's quite a project! Glad there are people like Jerad that know how to do stuff like that! @13:25 does Chris have the famous Colorado taillight burnout? I had to replace all 4 of mine on my 2020 within the first year and I see so many around with lights out. The lower-brightness on the dual filament burns out and the brake lights/indicator will illuminate, but they won't be on just for running lights.
Love the channel thanks for the vid what cracks me up is everytime you post a video I swear I just did the same mod when you got the midland radio I got mine when you got your lights I got mine and I just regeared last week 😂
Thanks! It was a fun one. More gear videos in the future I’m guessing. My Tacoma needs it… and it would be awesome to add a limited slip to the Old Dodge.
Good video the mechanic is a tremendous master. Nice Channel possibly do this to My 2021 ZR2 Bison Diesel in the future he still has 1700 miles and I don't want to spoil his warranty now I only use it on the road.
Depending on your trucks mileage you could get by with just R&P and likely one or two pinon bearings. That's what I did and it was $1400 back in late 17. 4.10's and 33's have been a great combination.
@@okpop78 That right there is why we've done so much of it ourselves. Chris essentially now has an upfit Bison with every AEV accessory. We did all the work ourselves, minus this re-gear.
Curious that they recommended 4.56s, I feel like that'd be pushing it a bit for the front diff's pinion gear size. I suppose those V6s aren't terribly torquey though, especially with a 2.6ish low range
About to put dana 4.10s in my colorado with 2.8 duramax to help with towing. 285/70/17. Might lose some mileage but then again mayne not if I drive normally. Averaging 28-30mpg currently. 32/33 if I keep it under 50mph.
I ordered a 2024 Colorado Bison that should be delivered in April. All Colorados come with 342 gears no matter what trim or tire size. Stock tires are 30” ish. The Bison has 35” ish. GM won’t change out the gears. My calculations say that it needs a 411 gear to accommodate the larger diameter. However, with a little experience and the added weight of the rubber, I’m thinking 456 may be a better choice for the 2.7 turbo max and the 8 speed transmission. I do plan on hauling about 6-7k occasionally. What’s your take on that??

Did your hear any loud noisy @65 0r 70 MPH? according the colorado fan site, there some people complaint 4.56 upgrade.. I gonna regear my zr2 after you guys, don't know yet if 4.10 or 4.56
I passed this question on to Chris. From what he's said I don't think there is any gear noise. For the question of 4.10 vs 4.56... we deferred to Jerad's expertise. He recommends 4.10 for a diesel with 35's and 4.56 for a gas ZR2 with 35's.
This is the question on everyone's mind, and to answer the question, yes! You can hear the gears. But barely. If I'm freeway driving, I can hear the gears if I dont have the radio on and am completely quiet. This is going to be a personal preference thing, but for me it's so minimal, I completely tune it out unless I'm actively listening for it. Hope that answer helps. I was worried about the noise issues others brought up as well, but now that I have them in, it's a complete non-issue for me.
Surpring the 0-60 was the same. Truck need 5:13 or so gears if they made them. The main problem with the colorados is the complete lack of aftermarket parts when you compare it to a toyota. Not sure why the aftermaket does not support the colorado. Should also mention when installing the nitro gear make sure the pinion depth is near 46 thousands not the 95 that nitro recommends. If you go the 95 you will get a howl from the gears.
LOL... just have a funny comment that sticks in my head and I'll call you out! Jeffrey was awesome. He had these epic rants making fun of Chris and I. But like Icarus... he flew to close to the sun... the sun of sassing people too much.
I'd let Chris give the definitive answer on that. From what he's told me he doesn't have issues going 70-75. That's as fast as the speed limits allow in Washington. He's said the new gears are slightly louder than stock at those speeds but barely noticeable.
Sorry, what? I'm not sure if you're referencing a later video where we said that Chris' frame is flexing too much. That is true. It's not bent, but we are welding frame stiffeners to the frame in a video very soon. I think you're watching and commenting on videos out of order there sport.
Great video! And great numeric results before and after!
the trifecta tune is the best upgrade that i've done on my colorado. even on bone stock trucks, totally worth the money.

Checking this tonight, thanks!!
Andy (and Chris as well) did you get the seat squeak only when a person was sitting back there? That seems to be the only cause for my own little Jiminy.
It did only squeak with a backseat passenger. We couldn't figure it out for a while, but I'm ocd when it comes to vehicle noises so I kept looking 😂
Outstanding video guys! My ZR2 is a new animal with the re-gear and Trifecta tune.
That's quite a project! Glad there are people like Jerad that know how to do stuff like that!

Yes, I did have that exact issue. I've since fixed 'em.
Great video guys, I lifted my truck I'm only running 33-inch tires and had 4.10 Nitro gears installed in my truck wow big difference👍👍
Nice! Yeah I’m due for this on my Tacoma soon. I want to run 33’s as well.
MY OH MY! Loved the Dave Niehaus clip... childhood flashbacks there!
Loved it too. Perfection
Thanks Zach! I put that in there to make guys our age from the PNW happy.

Yeah he was the man! Big thanks to Jerad for letting us get in his way and ask silly questions.
Awesome video! Great to see the improvements!
Thanks for watching!

Might do this on my Colorado… I know this isn’t gonna be cheap but definitely wondering what it’ll set me back
Ah the good old gm glitter. Makes me glad i like the old dodges with dana axles that just really like to leak.
How much can one expect a regear to cost? I get that it will change based on shop and region etc. But it would be nice to have an idea. Thanks!
Parts are about $1500 (link below). Labor costs depend on where you live. I’d estimate $3k or so for the whole job.

Mine colorado is 2wd it was 650 for parts and 600 for install in so cal
@@MrPROGAMER56Could you send me the link to the parts you used?
Great video! What's the cost difference with aev doing the conversion?
Not sure. The upfit AEV service includes re-gearing along with the highmarks and other mods.

Great video and info. Now I know what I need to do to my bison.
Now that Nitro gears is out of business is there another alternative to upgrading your gears in the Colorado ZR2?
That mechanic is a badass!
He is!

why only the rear diff. I thought you change oil for front and rear.. can you explain
The front diff takes longer to break in because you aren’t driving around in 4wd all the time.
Please include the pricing of the products and labor. Thanks
That changes all the time. That’s why I provide links.
Anyone know what front bumber Chris is running on this ZR2?
It’s the AEV front bumper… with the optional bull bar.
Torqued the ring gear in a around the clock pattern?

I tend to agree that it should come with different gearing. An engineer from Chevy might’ve told me as much when we went to the press event.

Yes, that was part of the tune we did.
